I said it at the time but now it's easier to see, but there was more value is us securing Luke Jackson than just what he brings to Freo. It's in what he doesn't bring to a side we play at least 2/22 times every year, the only side we play who we don't have the advantage of them having to fly over.

He was exactly who they needed. They had pick #2. They should have looked into splitting that pick or just leveraging their PSD position.

Not sure he'd be making much difference there atm or for the next decade tbh.

They haven’t been a club that’s sacked a coach for 20-odd years. Outside of perhaps the hiring of Simpson himself they’ve basically been a boys club since they hired Worsfold.

They’re a wealthy club but it’s still a massive hit to pay out that much money. I wouldn’t be surprised if he resigns before he’s sacked like Worsfold did. Losing by 100 points every week can’t be overly enjoyable.

The absolute disaster of Brett Ratten last year is the only time I remember a coach being sacked with two years on their contract in recent times. One year left seems to be more the danger zone. Has a team actually been this bad in the AFL era though except maybe a dying Fitzroy or GWS when first starting?

Their side is going through the same issue we had in 2017/2018. Rucks being dominated, midfielders playing on the back foot due to it.

We slogged through years of Sean Darcy developing to forge him into the best ruck at his age, it cost us many games.

They need to start that with a potential elite gun. Freo has the luxury of Jackson as a surplus midfielder.

They will be buying Tim English to plug that hole.

can Tim English choose not to go to WCE? what will they give Bulldogs in return? he must be losing interest by the day....

And if I were working at WC I'd have been putting something together for the big money behind the scenes to buy Simpson a house in Victoria cash to be signed over to him for nothing with a change of trustee form if he resigns and retires - saving the club all the money troubles.

They will throw more money at him than he can refuse, but they'll have to trade first round picks.

The flow on of the Dogs being without a ruck, in their window and cashed up with draft picks could get ugly though.

then they would just be repeating their desperate moves that have seen them have no youth in the first place

it's hilarious they have no players left with any value

That's soft cap rorting, it would be embarrassing to get caught doing that.

I'd be telling him to take the Richmond job or maybe North job if Clarko doesn't come back. WC can settle for 100K a year on top of his new wage from over east. No payout required.
