Peter sumich is available why not WC give a job to an ex player.

I am sure they only need a bit of tinkering to the game plan to reduce to margins from over 100 to 80 points.

No one deserves to coach their list more than he does. Make it happen.

Worst list ever (isn’t atm but retire all the veterans and it’s pretty close) and worst coach ever - match made in heaven.

That's soft cap rorting, it would be embarrassing to get caught doing that.

I'd be telling him to take the Richmond job or maybe North job if Clarko doesn't come back. WC can settle for 100K a year on top of his new wage from over east. No payout required.
It is cap rorting and happens quite a bit.

Libs being in a mess is fact. The religious aspect is obviously more tongue in cheek than fact (even if there is some basis for it). Drawing a parallel between the mob up the road and the libs is quite frankly hilarious. Dutton and Nesbit could swap notes on how to act like things are a-ok when they’re not

This is a "non-freo-afl-discussion" thread , we can leave the political s**t well out of it.
Why are you so sensitive? It's a single off hand comment coming from an obvious observation that both organisations have a correlation between an increase in rigiosity and a decline in success.

Thus, it is about certain aspects of religion being toxic and not about politics.

A single comment doesn't equal a political discussion. You're not saying whatever it is that's triggered you. Surely it can't be so simple as 'this is a non political discussion'. No, something in what I said offended you but you don't want to say it.

They haven’t been a club that’s sacked a coach for 20-odd years. Outside of perhaps the hiring of Simpson himself they’ve basically been a boys club since they hired Worsfold.

They’re a wealthy club but it’s still a massive hit to pay out that much money. I wouldn’t be surprised if he resigns before he’s sacked like Worsfold did. Losing by 100 points every week can’t be overly enjoyable.

The absolute disaster of Brett Ratten last year is the only time I remember a coach being sacked with two years on their contract in recent times. One year left seems to be more the danger zone. Has a team actually been this bad in the AFL era though except maybe a dying Fitzroy or GWS when first starting?

They won't fire him - that'd mean not only copping the financial penalty, but Nisbett and the movers and shakers on the board actually admitting they got it wrong.

No, if they want him gone he'll get the same treatment Judge got - low level bullying, leaks of personal/family info to The West/6PR, players going around him to the CEO/board - until it's too unpleasant to contemplate staying in the job and he quits. That's how they operate.

Now there's a name I haven't heard in a long time

Just need D-lton G--d-ng to contemplate the supervillain trifecta.

Just take it all to the politics thread. If the same glib comment was made of the left or of other tribal aspects of the left people would respond. And some of us would also be saying at that point, take it to the politics thread.

One does not need to be offended to tell you this is the wrong thread.

Nah it was hilarious - who the hell would bother with a political thread? I thought it was clever and appropriate for the moment

Even nisbett announcing he'll step down over a season and a half before it happens seems off to me.
Right? He steps down at the end of next season. Is that supposed to release some of the immediate pressure? Because it won't, and it will just piss people off. It's a boys club golden handshake.
