I agree with all this, especially the clean-out needing to start at the top. They have the feel of an organisation where the culture has gone completely stale due to complacency and nepotism that starts right at the top with Nisbett who will never let go barring a coup.

The first time I noticed the rot was setting in, was at the start of Covid when the teams hubbed up in Qld. There was no end of whining from the Eagles prior to their first game, and when they started their first game, it showed that they where mentally stuffed. There was a total lack of leadership on all levels. The leadership group, management group and the Teflon Godfather blamed everything on something other than “what’s between their own ears”.

Last season was the pinnacle of the blame game. Players lacked the professionalism to keep themselves in reasonable shape over the Christmas break. They returned to training fat, ..... then the injuries followed. It appeared that those in authority lacked the cajones to call out the “lazy” players.

A footy team must have leaders on all levels, prepared to call a spade a spade.

Going by the stats, he spent a fair bit of time playing second ruck, which from all accounts was exactly what he didn’t want to do with us!
Lobb is a sook. His partner has wanted to move to Melbs for employment for 2 years. Any other reasons about not playing in this position or not being coached to his full potential is plain BS.

I'm wondering how Lobb even gets a game if they can get that forward line to gel. His saviour might be the need to move one of them back because they are way better offensively than in defence.

Reading comments from Dogs fans, Lobb's value is in drawing the no.1 defender away from your Naughtons and JUHs. I'm sure that's what Lobb meant when he said he wasn't coached properly.

Perhaps when it's the no.3 defender they'll work out it was a wasted trade. Meanwhile ... we develop an exciting flexible forward line!

A great response.
My thoughts exactly.
Also to add, they , the players showed no respect the threat of covid. They were out clubbing etc.
They blamed injury on their bad season, but fatness, unfit and caring not a thing about covid, all made for a shocking season. And may those seasons roll on for a further ten years at least.:):)

To be fair to Lobb he got smashed in ahead clash with Alex Keanu in the second quarter. He came back in but he was kinda just trotting around after that

Lobby took on Keanu?

Hasn't Lobby seen the John Wick movies??? Jeez.

Lobb's other reasonably good goalkicking season was the 29 goals he kicked in 2016 when GWS made it to a prelim Final - and 3 times he had bags of 4 goals and twice bagged 3 goals in a game - but they were done with Cameron and Patton in the same forward line - so maybe he prefers to be that 3rd option where anything he does is a bonus rather than being relied on to be the main goalkicker.

**** Rory Lobb.

That is all.

How do you fit JUH, Naughton, Darcy and Lobb in the same FWD line?
It's possible they move Darcy or the least goalscorey one of them down back. Darcy played the intercept role a bit in his handful of games last year because they had no one else who could, thus why their defence was putrid.
Now they have Liam Jones who hasn't played in the AFL for 18 months. By all accounts he was great today but we'll see what happens against better opposition.

Darcy is looking like a generational talent as a forward to me. JUH is going to be at least very good to elite. Naughton is the best contested marking forward in the game. It’s crazy.

Jones was excellent today. Hasn’t missed a beat.

Honestly if the Dogs can’t win another flag with this side it’s as big a waste as our Connelly coached teams. They have elite talent everywhere. English is going to be crazy good. Smith is a freakish talent, Daniel.

Wonderful squad.

Gee bulldogs tyres getting pumped up on the back of not much. I have them struggling to make the eight to be honest.

Strange the number of people thinking Richmond are a threat this year. Dynasty’s over and they are a 7/8 side at best, which means we‘ve gone past them.
It’s because they poached 2 high draft pick midfielders from GWS.

The media barely watch GWS so just assume they must be good because of their draft position and drool over the coup. They never look back on this same scenario with Treloar, Shiels or countless Carlton players that failed spectacularly.

The two plodders they picked up who couldn’t finish in the GWS to 10 B&F aren’t going to stop their decline. If they go on a bad run I can see the wheels fall off.
