Blaming "our senior players" who are on millions, is really going to get results. They clearly don't want to play for the coach! There's this fantasy rhetoric from WCEs supporters believing they just need to replace their players - with who?!? have they looked at the stocks in their WAFL side??

The AFL allowed a club to give away draft picks to take players last year. Would anyone be interested in a second round pick from the Eagles to take one or two of their contracted players off their squad?

They currently have #19 and #36
Other than Allen and Ginbey, who would you take?

Kelly, McGovern, Ryan, Yeo.

Probably in that order, depending on Yeo's physical condition and Ryan's continued positive relationship with the local reporters.

Kelly and McGovern would be very expensive though, salary cap wise.

McGovern is either faking his injuries, or keeps going down

I believe Yeo grew up a Freo supporter, and it's a shame (despite his injuries) he didn't jump ship years ago. He has his publican career to look forward to.

It only makes sense to WC to give away their older players, so those are the only ones we could get a look at.

The perk would be that potentially we have 26 best 22 players

I don't think we should waste our picks and salaries to "help them out". I would prefer us going after players like Sharpe etc

If any of them wanted to play for Freo, they had their opportunities years ago.

West coast aren't giving up draft picks, that's ridiculous

Not sure Sharpe is anything special. Can’t get a game at GC.
We have Aish, Henry, Nod, Worner & the new boy Stanley who I have a very good feeling about.
Sharpe would be miles back in the queue. Word was GC were quite happy to palm him off last trade period.
He might come good, plenty of ex GC players do but he’s lost a lot of luster since being drafted.

Honestly would throw picks at Oscar Allen. He’s a natural CHF.
Anyone else. Nope.

Kelly.. enjoy mate.

I feel bad for a lot of their young players to be honest. It's not really their fault at all that they're in this situation. Just had the misfortune getting drafted by them. Especially someone like Maric. Work so hard, get overlooked in the draft, then work hard the whole season only to be TOOO good and end up on west coasts list and having to deal with 171 point losses.

The older, more experienced guys are the once who I really dislike, and am enjoying seeing getting smashed every week. Kelly, Yeo, Gaff, Shuey, Darling, Sheed etc. Fat, overweight, putting in zero effort, and making it that much harder for their young guys to perform.
Watching Gaff end his career in this shittery after missing out on a medal is karmic perfection.

I’ve watched a bit of Sharpe in VFL this season and for mine there is nothing standout about his game.

I formed this same opinion many weeks ago but continually get challenged by some posters that Gold Coast aren’t playing him because they know he is gone at seasons end. If what they say and what you’re saying about them being happy to palm him off makes me very confused about their trade strategy. I believe we were willing to offer one of our third round picks in a two for one offer with GC (ie Corbett, Sharpe > F3). Gold Coast just outright wanted a F2. The moment we traded Corbett for F4 made that trade difficult. We would have still palmed off F3 (likely Carlton pick) for Sharpe but they wanted a 2nd so we moved on and did other deals. Then GC came out after trade period and had a go at Freo.

He will likely go to West Coast for a bag of chips and forge out a couple of seasons similar to Sammy Peyrovski-Seton. He is apparently salty at Freo if you go by one poster who may well be correct.

I formed the opinion months ago even after Henry was dropped and watching Peel (as compared to GC VFL replay and highlights) that Henry is an upgrade on Sharp. They were selected in the same draft and I just don’t see the point, especially considering we now have drafted Stanley and re-signed Worner.

I do like Flanders (as I’ve said previously) but his talents were on show to everyone yesterday afternoon so I doubt we’re in the mix but I’d like us to have a crack at him. He can play a variety of roles incl. Wing, Centre and HFF.

Would love to get Liam Ryan but I don't think Nisbett would ever consider it.

I'm not sure there is any amount of spin West Coast would put on one of their star players being moved to Fremantle and WC paying Freo draft picks like Gold Coast did to salary cap dump them, the player would cop it like a mercenary, the club would get beaten around too.

But WC will be able to front load contracts to their existing players for long, long extensions and lock in the pieces of their rebuild - attract free agents with stupid money deals.

I hope not but that last game was serious basket case performance. They're Fitzroy-level s**t.
Even if they got those picks they'd use em on sharp and Robertson

Don't think they'd be allowed to trade them without getting players back, those were the hard rules last year

They've got no players to front load

All their draftees will be in year 1 and 2 meaning they're stuck on base contracts

They need picks not cap space
