This Dogs win is good for those of us that want freo to rise up the ladder a few spots and take pick 4 from the demons.
If we beat Brisbane I don’t think the Dees will have pick 4 and I can deal with that. As disappointing as the season has been.
I know it makes no difference to our draft hand but I would absolutely vomit if they drafted a future HoF player with our pick for Luke Jackson and there is a much lower chance of doing that with pick 7 or 8 than pick 4…

Prefer players were fresh for grand final and they can dispel the notion that finishing top 4 is less important since the bye has been introduced

Naughton is really a shite kick
I agree and I think the negative impact of having a shite kick for goal as your spearhead key forward is underestimated.
The sigh of frustration in a close game when your main target butchers a relatively easy chance is hard to describe and it provides a shot of oxygen to the opposition.
We have all watched Jack Riewoldt a lot over the last decade. Is there a more clutch performer in front of goal from a set shot this decade? Maybe JK for our mates over the road.
If you were a Richmond fan I’ve the last 7 or 8 years and Jack took a mark 30 m out, you could sit back, relax and take another swig of beer and get ready for the centre Bounce. It’s going though the big sticks 90% of the time.
Naughton in that situation? Max king, McKay? Fyfe?
Get behind the couch and start praying. It could literally go anywhere.
The amount of anxiety that is removed from a team and a fanbase in the stadium watching that team, is massive when you have a reliable set shot kicker.

Funny how the most recent memories can taint such a Sterling career .
Even the great Buddwah almost succumbed to this , redeemed himself last half of this year but has been pretty average the last few years and was at risk of being remembered like that .

They’ll definitely be harder to beat for us because they’ll give full effort unlike most of their other games but this is just a horrible horrible game of footy
