Yep. I can’t get past how ugly Erasmus kicking was last year at peel. I’m not exaggerating to say it was horrific.
I do think he’s a lot more abrasive and tigerish and dynamic than Robertson besides that, but he’s an even worse kick.
* me I hope we see some improvement from his kicking at peel tomorrow compared to last year.
You won’t last long in the modern game if you can’t kick the ball properly

I think you are exaggerating. It's not that bad at all. I see him as a Coniglio not as a Robertson

He was pick ten in the first round, the best player picked from this position is Dangerfield.
Would you say he is an elite kick? You want a quality forward well you probably
should be looking at a pick closer to where Amiss was selected or top 5.
As a forward/mid Neil kicks goals and wins possessions as an inside midfielder.
After he has reached 50 AFL games, then questions should be asked.
But what he has can’t be taught, that aggression is highly valued IMO and is
a part of premiership success as long as I can remember.
I don’t see too many inside mids with elite kicking, and forwards get judged on
goals.
I’d be questioning our off field decisions before players ATM, because who gets
games and who doesn’t makes no sense at all?

True but those kind of unicorns come around once in 50 years at most clubs.
Also Nats field kicking has generally been excellent over the years of his dominance. Well ahead of Neil anyway.
Never saw Fyfe make a turnover early in his career as bad as Erasmus’s against Gold Coast was last year.

Jesus, we turning on Ras already? You lot are making it sound like he’s Zac Dawson level of bad kick. He’s in his second season, chill

His kicking is pretty bad. He can still forge a decent career but he’ll have to be very good at the other parts of the game.
Port for some reason have quite a few potential father/son picks coming up. Someone posted the list on Reddit a couple of days ago and I think we are the only team other than the 2 expansion teams without a father/son prospect over the next 3 years.
We blew our first six years with useless players who never reached the 100 game mark.

That aside, Peter Daicos retired in the early 90s and Collingwood are only just seeing his kids play now. It can be a long wait.

His kicking can be bad, it can also be very good. He's inconsistent is all, which is normal, especially for a young player. The good kicks show that he can do it , he just needs to improve his consistency as every player does. Even the elite kicks, don't hit it every single time, no one is perfect.

Don’t we have the Hayden boys over the next 3 years?

Imagine if we had a coach like theirs!

A footy season has many ups and downs, as I regularly say, during the season teams will soaring and flopping at different periods.

Some teams start the season with gusto, some with clogged fuel lines. The ones who started with gusto, start to run on fuel fumes, other teams clean their fuel lines.

Will the Saints start to tire ?. Will Carlton keep drinking the sugary koolaid?. Will Freo get into 3rd gear ?.

It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

Still….it’s important to nab some early wins. I am hoping we’re 3-3 after rd 6.

would we prefer an elite kick who only finds the ball 10 times a game ?

A midfield of Erasmus, Johnson together compliments each others games.
Erasmus is the perfect Crowley, Barlow replacement.
With Brayshaw, Serong that’s a good start to building a quality midfield.
Erasmus strengthens the resolve, allowing others to get off the chain.
I don’t see us winning anything without that quality, add Young and it’s hard
to see that failing?

I agree so why the **** are we giving 650k / 4yr deals to JOM and Will Brodie

These are the types of players and contracts other teams are giving up draft pick to get off their books

Because we're not....Hawks are paying a fair chunk of O'meara's salary.

Not sure on Brodie but I thought we weren't paying all of his either.
We just extended Brodie for 3 years. I like to think we gave him more years and he took a discount for it. That’s handy depth at the very least
