Is Matt Owies actually a good bloke? There's a video of him doing the rounds at the moment where he's talking to a WC fan at training and speaks 'glowingly' about Carlton whilst being filmed.

Maybe it’s because I haven’t seen him play for WC yet but I recon he has every right to slag off Carlton. He kicked 30 goals and they kicked him out the door, even leaked to the media that he wanted 800k a season which was bullshit according to his manager.

I hope he doesn’t prove them wrong at WC.

They probably asked for contract that had goal incentives in it that would have made it healthy if he had a really good season (35 40 goals) but if you plug 65 goals into the equation it was 750 K or something. Was never going to happen but in the sly logic of the disengenous idiot it's 'He wants 800k!'

Agreed but in no situation is Owies asking Carlton for 800k pa.

Maybe, but it would also be an issue if forwards have goal incentive based contracts so never pass and have pings from everywhere. Cap management would also be hard.
