At the AFL commission meeting one of the items on the agenda is "a higher focus on run-down tackles in the rough conduct section of the Match Review Officer guidelines". Yet "the League has stressed to clubs it is not pushing to take the run-down tackle from the game"
So the run down tackle goes the way of the bump. You can still do it but if someone gets concussed from executing the run down tackle it's MRO time.
It's only a matter of time before the speccy is the subject - we're not taking the speccy out of the game, but if you knee someone in the back of the head flying for a speccy it's MRO time.

To be fair to the Carlton fans, when your team is a juggernaut that has won the last three premierships it's hard not to gloat
What a shame it'd be if an Atletico Madrid (hopefully more than one tbh) comes along and one of these comes third or worse in what they believe is a two horse race.
In all seriousness though I don't hate Collingwood that much. Them winning their 17th before Carlton and Essendon and the other two not winning one for several decades would be somewhat satisfying.

The wankfest over the blues when they were crap was horrible...could you image them actually winning it...It would be gross.
The knee to the back of the head while attempting to take a speccy can be dangerous to the player who is a sitting duck to serious injury, needs to be some duty of care by the player attempting to take the mark.
A knee to the back, ribs and kidney area is basically clearing space rather than a traditional speccy where the player tends to have his knee on the other players shoulder to get a lift. It's a fine line between a speccy and serious injury at times.
I take it you are following the medical recommendations and are up to your 7th or 8th jab?
Piss off with this stuff already. It is an embarrassment.

I've always thought it strange they outlaw hits to the head but allow a knee to the back of the head in a marking contest. Seems pointless to ban a shoulder to the head when bumping but allow a knee just because it looks cool.

And yes, the double standards of AFL players is hypocritical. Had two colleague refuse the jab, subsequently fired from their roles, and couldn’t get back to the workplace due to the law. That’s the standard.
Meanwhile Darling becomes woke, stays at home not adhering to such practices. It’s blatant hypocrisy.

They are my least favourite club....more so than West Coast.
Because of the fans WCE will always be my least favourite. The Blues are getting close though.
You make valid health and social points, however any defending of Jack Darling on this board should be met with a ban/suspension.
