Buddy has gone back under the knife. Disappointing as a footy fan, the game is better for having big bud out there at his best. It looked like he was priming for a big season too so it's a shame his body already started giving out, and sad that he may be nearing the end of the road

Buddy is 33 next month, only played 10 games last season and his contract still has 3 years to run...not looking good for him or the Swans based on how his body is now starting to show the inevitable signs of age and wear & tear.

Agreed. He's still worth a huge amount to the swans in membership and his farewell tour will pack the scg week in and out if he can get on the field, but it looks like the days of building a team around him are over. Lucky for them that heeney looks ready to step up

I would say the Swans have well and truely got a great deal out of him being there for 7 years. Maybe didnt get the ultimate success but certainly financially its been a win for them.

Still 3 more years of salary cap will drag on them a bit
My guess is they just keep doing what they’ve already been doing list wise. Running with a shortened senior list, 38 or 39 listed players, and carrying a couple of extra rookies.

Seeing as that article is from 2013, the only question is; was the deal restructured at anytime in the last 6 years?
There's a rule for free agent contracts such that their salary cap hit is the higher of the original contract and any restructuring, so there's nothing to gain unlike other contracts. It's the same rule that says the whole contract will count against the cap even if he retires early (unlike, say, the Tom Boyd example).

Non football related.

Hope if you’re going to the Brisbane Heat game tonight you didn’t park on Winstanley street, around the corner of Carindale, because there’s a lot of people getting tickets right now from a parking inspector.

There one section that’s no parking from 4pm to 7pm.

The way these poisonous "journalists" are going on in the UK you'd think Harry and Meghan had kicked one of her precious Corgi's off the roof of Buckingham palace

Yeah, that's you have to go with more reputable news outlets:

Looks like Tom Mitchell is going to miss at least a few games early on next season. I feel like the hawks are probably a top 8 team with him in the side and very much borderline without, so how quickly he recovers is going to be a big deal for their performance next year. Still, if he missed round one you'd think we're the warm favourites, mcg record be damned

Certainly not wishing to gloat about any of this but it can only help our cause when the VFL teams have to disrupt their training plans for environmental issues, rather than us for a change.
