I found this quote pertaining to Ned Guy’s interview in a fox footy article and couldn’t help but laugh:

“Guy himself is between a rock and a hard place. He’s not a natural media performer, but on the evidence we’ve seen, he’d struggle to sell ‘Make America Great Again’ caps at a Trump rally.”

I chuckled at that too. Pretty funny.

Poor buggar, was thrown to the wolves last night.

Bit of a story doing the traps that Stephenson was again misbehaving this season and got pulled into line several times. Hub life wasn't for him it appears and Magpies got tired of his childish behaviour. Probably why Stephenson hasn't paid out Pies as much as he could have.

Treloar on the other hand appears nothing more than a salary dump which has been handled appallingly. Eddie still Missing In Action. Loves to commentate on every other clubs issues but stone silence when it's his beloved Pies.

Stephenson comes across as an immature idiot and makes me wonder if the heart issues were a cover up.

I’ve never met Stephenson, but my mother in law works at a nursing home in Bendigo where his grandmother was. (Think she passed away last year).

Said he was always really nice, well mannered and regularly took the time to have a chat with some of the oldies who were one eyed pie supporters. Also brought in some merch for them. She seems to think he was a lovely young bloke. Again, don’t know him from a bar of soap, but all of her experiences with the young fella were very positive. Seems like he has a good heart, but has a bit of rascal in him.

Would have been called a bit of a larrikin in the old days. Mischievous but good hearted

Maybe all Stephenson needed was to get out of the Collingwood bubble and into a club where people work with him to help him grow up. Collingwood was not the best place for someone like him.

Seems a remarkable fall from grace in a very short time.

Is it genuine, or spin? Methinks there is a level of "alternate facts" coming out of Collingwood consistent with high level arse covering.

From afar looks like he was crying out for a bit of Fagan/Noble leadership and no nonsense discipline......from peers as well tho I suspect the ex-basketballer would have handed out plenty of advice.

Yeah a couple of days ago Ned was sent out with the message that the salary cap squeeze was a beat up. Then today CEO comes out and says the cap squeeze was a key factor behind the call to dump four players. Here is a re-enactment of the press conference.

Listening to Mark Anderson (Collingwood CEO) this morning, it feels like every time they try to clarify what happened during the trade period, the more convoluted the spin becomes. It feels like they're trying to defend the indefensible instead of just copping to the fact they stuffed up.
I think the problem there is that they achieved everything that they wanted to achieve this off season.
So therefore they had a win.
Bit hard to put some spin on it when everything went to plan.
Only thing that didn’t go to plan is that Cox wasn’t traded as well.

I think it's less about what they did (which I don't necessarily disagree with), but more about their communication around it.

They've been trying to defend Stephenson not being told directly about being put on the trade table (instead he needed to pick up the phone and call Buckley himself and ask him directly), as well as the comments suggesting that it was Kim Ravaillion moving to Queensland was the reason they started to look to trade Treloar (instead of the actual reason which sounds like it was his contract).

That was my point.
They have put themselves in between a rock and a hard place where it’s hard to deny the obvious but also hard to admit the obvious.

They may have achieved what they wanted but have pissed off their fanbase. No doubt they will come back on board if the team is successful but teh knives will be out if they have an ordinary season.

It will be exciting viewing.

How does the Collingwood song go:

side by side they stick together
until quite suddenly they don’t

See the barrackers are rioting
as all barrackers should

for trade week‘s a cakewalk
for the good old Collingwood.

Im off to post it on the Collingwood board. Lol, which as my sister in law says means lots of love.

More pain at Collingwood.

Collingwood’s wish to have the remainder of Dayne Beams’ salary be a medical payout has failed.
It’s believed the AFL has knocked back Collingwood’s plan to avoid Beams’ payout of the two years remaining on his contract be included in the club’s salary cap.

The Pies had been working with the AFL on a potential Beams settlement, but according to the rules, the former Pies midfielder’s payout will remain inside the salary cap.

Beams confirmed to the Herald Sun’s Sacked podcast last month that he had retired from the AFL, opening up on the gambling and prescription drug addictions that he had dealt with in recent years along with significant mental health issues.

Earlier, Collingwood chief executive Mark Anderson had said the club had remained hopeful of reaching an arrangement with the league.

Who are these big free agents they’re going tor next year? Surely they can’t expect to get a Bont or Cripps. Maybe Kelly?
