As a high selection yes... Clayton Oliver went at pick 4 but we were never going to take him anyway, it was always Schache, if the Blues went Schache at 1 we would have taken Jacob Weitering.

Worst ever 1st round selection was probably Llane Spaanderman at pick 18 in 2003.... David Mundy went at pick 19.
I was at a draft night a few years later, the year Schache left IIRC. Apparently internally there was actually a divide, roughly even split between Schache and Oliver at the time, so they went with the tall.

Some of it might be hindsight but it was also claimed Schache basically wouldn't be on their draft board under the new management because he was never a contested player - he basically just took marks on leads which doesn't transfer to seniors.

Are clubs too focussed on this over handballing game style that they don't practice kicking enough?
Something that's been prevalent this year are short handballs to someone in the same or worse position than you are rather than take a kick that's maybe less risky.

Turnover from a kick is something that doesn't look good. They'd rather play ring a ring a rosie with handballs and flick it on to someone else to put their head on the block.

It will . Mind you they barely raised a sweat in the first 45 minutes. Couldn't get the ball.

Crows didn't put them away either. Pies did find their run and spark there in Q2, but sub is already on (Kelly for Krueger) and Daicos seem to be carrying a calf issue. Pies may run out of legs if they lose one or two more.

Good win by the Suns but gee Richmond 1 win and a draw after 7 games.

If the Crows can somehow manufacture a win that will leave 6 teams equal 1st after 7 rounds.
Unfortunately, a Pies win puts them on top on their own.

3D chess from Richmond. They'll just poach the player GWS take with their high pick in a few years. Hopefully for them he can kick unlike Taranto.

I believe Noble was asked this and gave the same reply.
