Re: North Central Football League

Interesting debate. Who had the most goals kicked on them this year? ANy one snare a bag on these guys?? Usually a good way of telling how good a full back is. Especially when comparing 2 teams such as Boort and DOnald with fairly even midfields.

I played on both Cooney & Rhodes this year in the clashes we had against Boort & Donald, both are quality defenders & hard at it types & both good blokes.

In my opinion though i'd say that Rhodes would be the better of the two & was the best defender that i played on this year by a fair margin.

Re: North Central Football League

Correct me if im wrong, but pretty certain Fraser played full back in the 5 games v Boort during the year, with big Tarek kicking 11 in round 3!!...Cooney easily best full back-backmen in comp...

IMO Cooney was Boort's best defender on GF day (not that it matters now). At least he kept having a go all day. Big Fraser got beaten agst us during the season also. Coone si hard to beat especially one on one. Doesn't grt much of it up the ground though. WHere does Hill sit in all of this?

I dont think i've seen enough of Cooney to have an opinion on him. But Hill is probably the second best defender. Rarely beaten on a lead or one-on-one, and can cause problems for forwards going the other way.

Re: North Central Football League

Im not being biased but Cooney did play midfield at some times during the year also, to curb the bigger tougher midfielders influence such as, but not limited to, Andrews. Cooney best in my book as his work ethic is up there with the best of them.
Donald full back is obviously very good as well..... Hard to seperate....

To answer your question earlier 'Listen to the fans' I think it would be an awesome match up between the great Sonny Lindsay from Ouyen and a few Full backs from the NC.

Bit over 2 months til start of season. How are everyone's numbers on the track??

Re: North Central Football League

Serious? Not sure who played in there Grand Final side but if Trollope, Adams, Allan or Hawkes were in there you may have to take your statement back.

Patty, would love to hear your view on this? I'm presuming you played on him in the midfield against Wyche at some point in time

Trollope is a regular senior player and may not have had as good a year as he had hoped but played some blinding games from half back this year. Only 19 years old willl most likely become a key position player.
Adams is one, who has not reached his full potential yet. And loses the plot when things dont go his waywith umpires, The red hit can get a bit to firey for his own good.
Allen was 1st emergency and Hawkes was never in the mix to make the grand final side.
Allen has been determined to make the best 20 this year. Every time ive been past the footy ground he has been kicking the ball or running laps. I would say he would make the best 20 this year. Mainly due to the loss of players not neccessarily his hard work but that does help.

Re: North Central Football League

For a young kid of his height he definately gets the best out of himself. But in a topic of conversation in which we are trying to promote our league as being better than others and with better depth, i wouldn't be mentioning his name.

I'll give it to him that he had an excellent year and thats all you can expect, but i would like to see him play in the midfield of a good wycheproof side first to see how he goes. Not sure if he would have been playing such a pivotal role in any other side but he sure did take his opportunity this year and became wyche's best midfielder.

In summary. Gets a lot of his kicks from a good work ethic, but not a person your coach would point out before the game as being damaging.

Not in the best 25. But will be in the coming years

right on patty.
Some one had to get a kick in that wyche outfit last year. He was about the only one that got near it for them. In years to come, he could be a damaging player. but not yet a lot of work to do.

Correct me if i am wrong didnt cooney play on wilkins in the Grand Final? Wilkins being one of the best afield?

Back at it again Ablett19. Sticking up for your mates, you've got the most biased view on this site. It's all Boort, Boort, Boort! Are Boort the greatest side to ever grace our football fields? :p

Rhodes and Dell are clearly the best backman in the league in the past few years. They would beat any forward on any given day no matter how well the ball is being delivered to the forward.

Re: North Central Football League

Probably referring to Brown (or doesn't realise Archibald/Biggin/McIntyre aren't Donald)

Has anyone heard if Rohan Brown has joined his brother at Waubra?

Also has Donald appointed a new Assistant Coach to replace Tucker?

Heard that Donalds numbers at training are really down! Looks as if Funcke is going to find the going tough this year,

How about Jake the Snake White the indian rubber man of the ncfl bouncing off opponents running back into packs, tough as nails, expect a big year this year from him this year as i beilive he is actullay going to train this year
Is there any chance of the burn winning a gf in the near future, to break their famous drought, that would have to be one of the longer premiership droughts in country footy, perhaps they could pay timmy dullard big money again

Re: North Central Football League

Why create another thread that is exactly the same as this?

Maybe because this is 240+ pages long, and to see updated transfers (for those who dont know how to see them) they only have to go to "page one" on the other thread...instead of weaving their way in and out of posts by Captain Negativity

Oh, and on a side note, for those who still thought O'Bree was possibly Wyche Bound...

"O'BREE, Daniel South Bendigo > Mildura"

although most of us knew this previously

Considering O'Bree had signed to coach Mildura ages ago he was never Whyche bound.

As for the link you wa%nker Wouldn't it be better with this one:

Re: North Central Football League

Well the NCFL recruit most of their players from either CM, bendigo, horsham, or ballarat leagues compared to the heathcote recruiting from the bendigo (closer for players to travel) the murray and goulburn valley football leagues which is where the best footballis played now in country victoria, remember the HDFl had players like angwin, lock, fevalaki, dunne, dobson, waters, dickens, sam hill, cam carter, conheady, grant just to name a few that would cope against the palyers listed above

conheady that played at heathcote?
