Re: North Central Football League

i guess there is no one more qualified to talk on this subject than me, so this is what i think...

As far as giving them the option of a set penalty goes, thats entirely up to the umpire. They don't have to give you any option.

Connors/Rhodes = very similar circumstances. Both got reported in a 1st Vs 2nd blockbuster, as reports don't come about all that often in NCFL they both knew it wasn't going to be a happy ending. Best case scenario miss a prelim then play in premiership.

Here's the twist... Rhodes was reported for striking (by 2 umpires) Connors stiking (one umpire). Same Reporteing umpire in the same quarter of the same final... Rhodes was given the option of a one week set penalty, Connors wasn't.

And the second point to make here is that on the report card last year the date of the offence was wrong, which you half clued football brains might think would be enough to have the charge thrown out just because you seen it happen in Ally Macbeal or at the AFL tribunal. It doesn't work like that in country football.
As long as the tribunal are aware of the incorrect details before the case is handled they can choose to throw it out or not, As minor details don't change the effect of the hearing they continue.

They are not bound by law like the AFL is.

Yes i was *****ed off at the outcome last year, but... when it's finals football you just can't afford to be so rekless.
Crime worthy of its punishment.

Leigh needs to realise what he has done is stupid (whether it was intentional or otherwise) it was careless, and he cant start to feel sorry for himself.

Leave the focus on the team and the task ahead.

I feel for both boys cos i know how tough it is, but unfortunately it ain't getting any better from here so try not to dwell on it to much

I'm sure Leigh will be just as much a part of it all if they get up, and Rhodes will be lucky with a final chance to make it up to the team in the grand final should they make it. Something that wasn't acheived last year.

Good luck to both boys

So is that true piccone has got 1 week?

Why the hell did they have the tribunal hearing on Monday? Is that enough time to get a case together? I've never heard of it being so early. For such an important decision I would have thought that the end of the week would have been reasonable seeing Boort are already in the granny. Who organises the tribunal?

Cynical???

Picioane 1 week!! leagues an absolute disgrace and so is the donald football club.. 2 donald players at the tribunal going to town on picioane and backing everything that the fat emergency umpire had to say.. lets hope donald win this week so the boort boys get to beat those dogs for a fifth time and take home the flag!!

Just wondering Fleshy who were the 2 Donald players at the tribunal. Was Sir Lance present last night???

You have to remember that the person involved isnt a local....Leigh may well be unavailable all later this week!?

Re: North Central Football League

Does anyone have an accurate account of what happened at the tribunal? What were the cases put forward by both sides? Although I feel sorry for anyone who misses out on a grand final, I must say if someone asked me to predict a player that would be reported in the 2nd semi Leigh Picioane would have been top of the list.

dont know who it was but have heard the donald witnesses did everything possible to ensure that lee got rubbed out from all reports.
and as for lee being at the top of your list he did get sent off in the first final 2 years ago

Re: North Central Football League

Put yourself in Donald shoes.... they are 0-4 against boort, one of their top guys has been reported and will attend the tribunal.... are you going to try to influence the decision of the Tribunal? OF COURSE YOU ARE

If Boort are worried about it with Leigh out, then id say thats advantage Donald

Just hang on for a second. Read back through the previous threads. I don't think we have heard too many Boort people yet have we? You say 'if Boort are worried about it...." etc
well all of the angst has been generated by people that are not associated with Boort. I am more dissapointed because I don't like Donald, and I like to watch the best players play football. I would lke to hear the opinion of anyone out there from Boort before we start jumping to conclusions about what they think

Yes, read it....IF (Click Here) "conj" - "in case that; granting or supposing that; on condition that"

Because simply, IF Boort are worried over the issue, then thats a clear advantage for Donald (or Birchip if they happen to get up)

Re: North Central Football League

bit off the topic but wondering if anyone thinks the 'burn will be able to cause an upset this week in the seconds? they're obviously in good form and donald will have to send a couple of players up to the seniors to replace anderson and rhodes.

we all like watching the best players going round playing in crucial games but the fact of the matter is if they have done something that warrents them not to be out there, then they shouldn't be. in my opinion both offences deserved a suspension and thats what they got. any player that gets reported for an offence and is found guilty doesn't deserve to be out there, whether it be second game in or in a grand final and whether it be a well known player as was the case here or any other player.

Re: North Central Football League

i dont think theyll get to hung up on it! they are in the grand final, donald and birchip still have a lot of work to do! and on the small wyche ground donald will miss two of its tougher players in anderson and rhodes, could play a major part in deciding the winner. Birchip will want to kick accurately this week because any misdemeanours infront of goal will be 10 times more significant than the 1st semi.

I find it quite good that the Tribunal were able to ignore the time of season, and simply make judgment based on the Incident in question.... no "suspended sentences" or crap like that, its great, because the wouldn't have suspended sentences during the H/A season, and theres no reason to have any now

Not likely with the B and F count next weekend. Don't they usually hold them saturday mornings?

Anyway, move on. Matt Rice - rebels lost their first game for year last week. If they lose this week he is in? Does anyone know if he got a kick last week? He may be out anyway. He would certainly be a handy replacement.

Re: North Central Football League

Donald football club apparently did everything they could to out Piconie. Boort will win without Piconie. Let's hope Birchip belt Donald on Saturday. Rhodes taking a guilty plea will backfire and he will not get to play in the Grand Final anyway. Before this Boort had a lot of support from other teams in the league, I am sure their support will increase after this. Support will not win a premiership but let's hope this fires Boort up.

Not off topic at all... I think the burn will definitely have a good chance to win this weekend... Donald will lose a couple of the top liners up to the serniors to replace the anderson and rhodes, so i think wedderburn would be giving themselves every opportunity... especially playing on the tighter Wyche ground...

whats that old saying.... "If you do the crime, you do the time"!?
**Checks home video** fair decision

Oh, GOF....as far as 2 donald players at the tribunal going to town on picioane.... its called "A Witness" where was the 2 Boortonians backing Leighs story? or did that key attribute of the Tribunal just slip the Magpies minds?
if you call a high tackle over the shoulder "doing the crime'' is worth 1 week thats crap roc, do everyone a favour and shut the f..k up. this is not over by a long way, the reporting paperwork is up the s..t and that will be looked at by the vcfl on thursday morning, if they clear that then it will go to appeal. after speaking to someone that was at the hearing leigh was always going to get 1 week before he walked in and even with the help of rick andrews who himself rang the club asking to help out "fair bloke" and even the 2 players sides of the report it all didnt matter in the end. this is a man who plays hard at the ball like rhodes does but rhodes got up after the tackle and started throwing punches, with none coming back at him. the so called fat ump was just trying to get into the action because he was a emg ump. without giving to much away boort have a very good case. boort did try to call monday night off to build there case but the league wouldnt have it, as i said 1 game was already pened in. nothing but a kangaroo court. rhodes took the 1 week because he knows it would of been season over, and you poons saying if rhodes gets 1 leigh should get the same, what a load poo, maybe if the boys were trading blows yes but a high tackle to equal 3 blows to the face, i think not.

Re: North Central Football League
