Yeah, Trav played a couple of games up Brisbane. He was Promoted to Senior List when Martin Pyke Retired.

Ross Young is at Carlton now. He was a "Mature Aged Rookie" Was Promoted to Senior List earlier this year

Re: North Central Football League

Ok Lads Big weekend in NCFL Football.

last weeks results to be posted together with next weeks.

Odds for this week.

Wedd $1.30 v Birchip $2.30
Charlton $1.80 v Boort $1.90
Wyche $1.70 v Donald $2.00

no other market this week.

interested to know who everyone thinks will make the finals and their tips for the weekend

Re: North Central Football League

Are we looking for players from North Central to make the AFL?

I know Murray Gilmour played a couple of games for Geelong, Phil O'Brien played at Hawthorn and played for Victoria. Thats all i cant think of from Donald. Barry Young was he from St. Arnaud MOR? Trav Baird played a handful of games at Brisbane and has played two for the Doggies last season. Currently returning from injury in the Werribee reserves and got best on ground last 2 starts is likely to be back in teh werribee team this week.

Josh Thewlis is playing for South Adelaide and is having his best season for a number of years. Has been in the best most weeks playin as a half back flanker and on ball. And word has it, i have not spoken to him personally but a move back to victoria next season is on the cards.

Wedd $1.30 vs Birchip $2.30 Did you do your bookmaker apprenticeship under Greg Musgrove. You would get better odds off him at the BIrchip trots

Re: North Central Football League

Shane Hamilton would have to be up there
I am sure Teasdale would be up there JUST ASK HIM...I am also sure he and Shane Hamilton are related some how..mothers cousin or something like that.
Ross Young held his own alright in the few games he has played this year, pretty well balanced just like his old man.
There were a few more drafted that didn't quite make it past under 19's or seconds...Shaun Slater, "Butch" Donnellan, Travis Ruyg, Sam Gross, Ben Herald, Simon Wood, "Geeky" Jeffries to name a few.
Back in the day the players "visited the city for a game or two" only to return home to the farm or what ever. Guys like Jim Brennan. But this league is littered with those guys that maybe would have made it but the farm or the family business came first and some just couldn't be bothered with the city crap.
The ones that I can think of that spring to mind are Heath Campbell, Garry Young and Tommy Molan.
Sorry about getting of track...
I am tainted by my 'yellow and black' and think Jim Jess is the best. I know he is from Avoca but I am sure he was at St Arnaud when the Tigers got him becasue Avoca was in the Ballarat zone so he would have been St Kilda but I could be wrong (I am not quite old enough for that)

Re: North Central Football League

First my tips for this weekend:

Wedderburn to get over Birchip in a very hard fought out match. Redbacks to win by 3 goals, Stenhouse kicking 6, Ryan 4.

Another close game predicted with Charlton narrowly getting over the line against Boort. Charltons midfield being the difference. Finlay kicking 4.

Wyche to comforably account for a struggling Donald. Hawkins to kick 5, Wyche by 7 goals.

And for my predictions of the teams making the finals; I have listed my prediction for the final ladder placings.

Weddderburn
Charlton
Birchip
Boort
St.Arnaud
Wyche
Donald

Cheers.

Peter Shepherd is now in Darwin and is married with a young boy. He has been playing fairly handy football in Adelaide. I ran into him just before the start of the season and he said he was playing in Darwin, but was in Melbourne visiting Sal.

Sal is playing somewhere in melbourne im not quite sure where, but he is as fit as ever, and his arms are huge! He has a job as a personal trainer and is off the drink and everything, a real fitness freak. Is on a huge amount of coin where he is. I think Donald tried to get him this year but couldnt even get close to the offer he got down town. but that may not be true.

Donalds Top ten is a very tough one and i am sure i will get canned for missing someone and i havent been around all that long either. But here goes.

In no particular order,

Gary Young
Glenn Westerland
Tony Cashin
Marc Adams
Rahni Bucchanan
Glenn Wilkins
Paul Brooks
Paul Sheehan
David Clark
Salim Hassan
Nathan Sachse
Gene Brooks
Travis Ruyg
Geoff Berry
Tony Goldsmith
Nigel Allan
Peter Shepard
Mark Griffiths

Get Royal Dougy on the case, im sure with the blokes he works with they could come up with a great top ten. I cant really remember past 96, and some of those names i am just goin by reputation. If anyone thinks of anyone that i have missed post it on here!

Re: North Central Football League

Tips:

Donald to get up over the Demons by a point. Dion Hawkes to miss a goal after the siren.

The Wedderburn machine to roll on Cliffy to kick 2. Stenhouse 9

Charlton by 2 goals with Boort leading by 4 at 3 quarter time.

Tony Goldsmith - Oh please Bend it, give me a spell. You might as well thrown in Crazy Adams too.

Bend it you forgot Donalds favourite son, Simon Donellon. They even named a cup after him!

Good to see Trav Ruyg named in your top 10, his sister would make the top 10 chicks to come out of Donald.

Re: North Central Football League

roccy is mr lourey proving to be a very good coach at wyche
disd he get a lot of previously uncommitted players back there b4 the season started becoz over summer it was all doom and gloom

print media had wyche almost on the verge of folding with numbers well down

obviously a lot has changed since the warm weather passed into the memory

Re: North Central Football League

Go those mighty Saints (of the St.Arnaud variety) Hi all up there in St.Arnaud.....from an ex StArnaudite....cheers

Re: North Central Football League

Hey MOR I see big Phil Bramley is heading to charlton? Can you confirm this, as a few boys might be very interested in heading to St.Arnaud this weekend to setup the old stubby club that Phil loved so so much!:D As for SOS owhenthesaints, he would be right up there in St.Arnauds top ten bar fly drinkers, with the likes of P.Coomes & L.Archibald. ( Loved the piss when playing at St.Arnaud ):thumbsu:
