Re: North Central Football League

Yeah, their is a good argument there for the premiership coach not to get the coach of the year job. But if you coach a side to a premiership its still a great effort no matter what side you put on the park each week. In my opinion the coach of the team that wins the flag is coach of the year. Because they got the prize everyone wanted. Dean may not have been the best of coach in the comp, but he still coached the burners to the flag!

With the above comment, Lockhart shouldn't have been named Coach of the Year.

Re: North Central Football League

Where's MOR gone? I was wondering if he could shed any light on the brawl involving 20+ people in St.Arnaud last Friday night. Did it have anything to do with the league dinner? Did it have anything to do with the 40 jobs that were made redundant at the meatworks? Is Needsy's job one of those that has been made redundant?

Re: North Central Football League

redragger, QAF as a company, not just the St Arnaud piggerys, will be shut down. It was on the local news last week, they interviewed some Kay guy from the Gre Gre piggery.. Understandably they wouldn't be happy.

Rumour has that Daniel Needs has accepted a playing contract at Ballarat, which involves good coin, and a good job.

Also Solyom has been approached by Ararat to coach, i know this because they told me when they asked me to come play

Re: North Central Football League

I'll believe the Needsy move when I see it. I'd like to know more about this brawl, it was on the radio so it must be relatively serious. The league dinner was in Headsville on Friday night so there's a possibility it involved some North Central clubs. Any info anyone??

Sources say that the Comittee at the St Arnaud Football Club have placed a gag order upon The "Roc" and that he wont be able to appear any time soon.

Perhaps Ohwhenthesaints could verify this

Re: North Central Football League

Looking at this team of the year, the LT look after those from the LV area, in Boort, and Wedderburn. Perryman shouldn't be in, theres a case to have Noonan in before Nelson, and How the hell Sutherland got in has got me stumbled.

You dont pick a team of the year on reputation, you pick it on form

Didnt involve any player from around the NC area. It was a group of locals against a bus load of blokes from geelong, im pretty sure a lot of the boys from geelong went back with sore heads

Re: North Central Football League

I was flicking through the TV earlier, during our Morning tea break, saw a piece on the ABC of the St Arnaud Banana. Is that a Football Club horse? i saw a few familiar faces, that young red headed guy that is always pissed, but never seems to be playing, and the reserves coach, cant think of his name.

Re: North Central Football League

I didn't expect Ross to get it, but i dont think that he doesn't deserve it. Has played for vic country the last two years and fully supports inter league football.

Yea fair enough. i dont think that he didnt completely, not deserve the position, i just beleive that there are players whithin the league who should have got it before ross (andrews, Lee, Scambler, Brearley). it was good to see though that he did support interleague. Players who get picked for interleague an cannot be bothered playing should not be eligible for the "team of year", side. As for Lockart i dont beleive he is the best coach in the competition, but he did get the rockspiders to a flag.

Ohwhenthesaints should be able to fill you in on that one I'd say..

I'd could give you an open cheque book and you'd win the flag too as coach.

First senior flag for the town for 37 years - a great achievement for the coach and the players in my book.

It is a great acheivement, but they spent a fair what of coin to get there. How much would it cost to put the Red Backs on the park each week?? and compare that to how much it cost some one like Wyche or Donald to get a side on the park. but could be all turned around next year if the likes of Wyche and Donald spend up big.

Not as much as some think, probably more than any other NCFL club, but not as much as is believed

The Burn have been throwing the coin around the last 10 years. They eventually got what they have been paying for. Just a pity it was at a time when the league is relatively weak in comparison to previous years
