It is mental to me that our future 1st seemingly doesn't have great currency. Maybe it's a good sign for 2025.
Not just Norths Future 1st its all future picks that dont have alot of value for a few reason
Main reason is Richmond having 1/3rd of the 1st round picks and 9 free list spots to fill
Richmond - 8 picks
Melbourne - 2
St Kilda -2
GWS - 3
sydney - 2

17 selections from 24 owned by 5 teams in a strong draft where clubs have cleaned house and want to take picks
Very bad year to trade your future 1st out as teams will be reluctant to trade out anything before 16/17

I would have thought your premise suggested the opposite.

A small number of clubs holding unusually large number of picks, in a draft where levels of talent makes it hard to distinguish between players, means it’s more likely that a club takes a very calculated risk.

Pick 11 in this draft won’t be at a similar level to pick 4 next year imo.

It’s like ludowyke vs berry/travaglia

Not when your list managers know that the demand for your picks #18 , #20 , #23 , #24 will all attract future 1st round picks by 7 clubs all wanting back in this year.

Richmond will trade 2 of the later picks for Future 1st rounders but no reason to trade #10 . #11 unless it allows another pick to be gained in this draft along with a future.

GWS is reported to have already knocked back the Eagles #3 for their 15 + 16
St Kilda & Melbourne certainly wouldn't consider a straight out pick for pick swap

Going to be Hard to get a decent pick for a Future 1st and smart clubs would just keep their futures

Unlike yourself I won’t tell you what’s a good deal for your club.

But I can tell you what our clubs are trying to do. Ours has some interest in trading up to 2. Yours has some interest in trading down from 2. And offloading your future first for a trade into this draft.

We don’t know the dire need for any clubs to do these deals.

We also know that Richmond value pick 6 highly as is their right and for a trade for 2 if it occurs this will unlikely be included.

We don’t know Richmond’s appetite to trade out of this draft and into next years.

We also know north tried to get a pick in the low teens for their future first and had no luck in offloading it.

We also know that pick three this year has been valued at 12 and 14. This is well off the mooted 6 and 11 that you think is an excellent deal for Richmond.

The next few days we will obtain more information, and I’m sure more opinion from drafting ‘experts’ in this thread.
I don't reckon we/you know the bolded. Who has said that? Would be insane for North to do that on it's own. I get that it might be included in a multi pick deal, but our F1 for a teens picks I still don't believe, sorry.
Not wanting to get in a blue with ya mate, that wasn't my intention. There's enough "absolute fact" quoters on here.
I wasn't accusing you of that. Just feels like all the "awesome deals" for North are heavily weighted in Richmond's favour. Granted you have the collateral, but you'd hope the 2 clubs were dealing with each other better than some of the Tigers supporters approach on here.

North didn’t offer Gold Coast their future first for pick 13 in trade week?

I think it's only us, after 5 years of absolute sh!t from our club, that can't see us climbing out of bottom 2-3-4......I hope everyone else is right though, but it's a big ask for us to win 11 games, which is what Demons finished with at 14th.
We are giving up a top 4 pick for pick 18 is some of the suggestions. Crazy if we do that.

Was is just F1 for 13? Were there any other contingencies attached to it? Nothing coming back to North in that deal?
Was it attached to the Houston deal? This is all stuff we don't really know, but get's filed a way and re-quoted as fact.

no if you read the article

Nth actually added more capital to F1 to get pick 13.

And Gold coast still said no

This is why I hope we don't. North's will 100% be a top 4 pick, at best.

They ended up flicking Rory Atkins, and his $, off the books to Port didn't they?...in the Luko deal, with 13.
This is what I am saying.....people take 1 bit out of deal and that's now the watermark.
You think our bloke was just panicking to get 13 without any other ramifications involved? We were trying to land Houston then.
What I do know will happen, is in 12 months time, you're a fair chance to be holding some pretty highly round 1 picks that you wouldn't have paid much for. Just hoping it ain't ours.

It says you offered AT LEAST your future first for 13. Not sure what else you added to that but it obviously wasn’t enough.

History has shown that picks on draft night are even more highly valued than before the night when it comes to clubs trading up or in for them.

completely agree, on the F1s that we will have

I fully expect over the 24/25 drafts we will end up with 13 1st and 2nd round picks, we currently have 10.
Expect our 2024 picks to end up multiplying on draft night

As far as Nth goes though, F1<Pick 13, just say Pick 16

So Nth draft capital is Pick2, + Pick 16

All comes back to what is Pick 2 worth, and around and around we go lol

I have never seen anything like this since i have been following the draft the last and since future pick trading came into the system.

Future picks seem to hold very little value this year and just about every team that doesnt have academy or father son selections are wanting to move future picks into the 2024 season. The future 2nd rounders have very little value if any to the teams.
We have seen teams this year move alot of players on that are AFL quality player and make list spots available by delisting them to bring back onto the rookie list and we may see 70+ selections taken in this years draft
Essendon , St Kilda , North , Gold Coast , GWS , Geelong , Bulldogs , Eagles have all mentioned they want to get more picks this year of said words to that effect and Melbourne have already moved their F1 in the Essendon trade ( which looks a great deal now).

Looking at the list of draft picks its hard to see how these clubs move future picks into 2024 specially before GWS pick #16 but most likely Richmond's pick #18 that looks to be the earliest that will get moved.

Richmond could really hit the Jackpot in this draft taking 5 1st round selections and moving 3 into Future 1st rounders and possibly some later picks in this years draft

This is a year where unless you really must you should be looking to keep Future 1st round picks as they are extremely under valued and its almost like a fire sale as some noth supporters have mentioned their pick could be a top 4 pick and St Kilda and Essendon top 6 pick but could all be traded for picks 18-25.

I dont believe the draft next year is all bad and will have some great players in the 1-10 range even after the academy/Father son kids.

The old stock market theory in this case is the right call sell high and buy low
North should be keeping their future 1st rounder and should just take their F1 & F2 off the table and if they get a reasonable deal for #2 fine but if not just take it to the draft and take selections #2 + #62 and what ever later picks they get on speculative talls

Dude I can't explain it any more ....that was involved in the Houston deal....BEFORE we'd traded for Daniel and Parker etc.
Others have pointed this out too, but it just gets ignored in the relentless noise from Tiger supporters. We get it, you've got a great hand. Maybe things will pan out the way you want, but plenty of Tiger supporters will say it did regardless.
I know you think our F1 is worthless, until next year when you've got picks 1 AND 2 and it's "Hur hur how dumb are North!"
Maybe we are stupid, but by god you'd hope my club wasn't that friggin' moronic. Would you be happy with Richmond handing over a F1 for pick 18??? You'd be livid at your recruiting department.

No way i would be happy with trading #1 for any pick in this year as there is a clear standout next year unlike this year
Sharp is looking like he would have gone at pick #1 this year as a 17 year old so wouldnt sacrifice that selection but Richmond are not in North's position.

Out of curiosity what pick in this years draft are north supporters expecting for that F1 and what do you believe will be the trade as it looks like North are set on trading it out.

Mate I’m not sure what your rant was about.

I was just showing you it was reported that your club offered at least your future first for pick 13 in the trade period. It shows that clubs don’t want your future first for anything more than pick 14 onwards. GWS may be a show. Sydney too. But I can’t think of too many others that want to trade out of the teens. Might be wrong though.

You seem to be getting quite wired up on what others think on this forum.

Personally im taking it as it comes.

We have no control on the goings on at our clubs but can speculate based on what we believe their intentions are and what they have said and tried to do over the past few weeks.

Nah not getting wired up.....read through the different threads mate, we are outnumbered 30 to 1, I reckon....so the narrative is getting rammed down our throats. It's all fun. None of us know jack sh!t.
My "rant" was about the GCS deal....it was us trying to get Houston, that doesn't now set the watermark for F1's, was all I was saying. You can keep saying it,but I don't believe it....one of us might be right, but tipping we are both wrong.

It's an insane world where a club that has finished bottom 2 the last 4 years, could be five, I'm jaded, has it's F1 valued at pick 14 FFS.....That is purely because Richmond has a 3rd of the first 20 picks this year.
Look, it's good business, but it's absolutely raping the competition......this is provided it's true.
I don't believe we would even entertain it. Has to be a pick in the top 10 for our F1, or gezuz I wouldn't be do that deal.....career suicide for our recruiter doing that and he's not exactly popular at North anyway. I think our F1 is in a combo with 2.....but I bloody hope it's not 6+11 for 2 and our F1....which "apparently", let's be clear, not confirmed, was rejected by Richmond. That's an insane deal for Richmond.

Who knows.....I reckon we dangled it, tried to get it involved with the pick 2 deal, and we aren't getting what we want.
HAS to be a pick under 10, which I will now get responses from the algorithm that there's NO WAY!!
That's ok, I hope we keep it........Sharp looks stupid good huh. Have you watched the latest Draper vid around....bloody hell imagine him AND Sharp in the same side, ridiculous.
Surprised Draper not rated 1 this year actually, I've fully slept on him and always had him at 3-4. Now I want him at 2.

Edit...just to add to this......Tigers could literally have pick 1 and 2 for 2 years in a row. No club has ever had that have they? Taking the 4 best kids in the country over a 2 year period.......faaaarrrrkkkkk!! Scary.
I'd be doing that deal over getting Josh Smillie if I was Richmond, but what do I know.

Anyway, what will be will be.

Pretty sure Sharp is well and truly in our thoughts during this years trade period and taken into account on the types of mids we take which probably reflects our position on trading for pick #2 this year and the value it has for Richmond.

Laking Lalor #1 and possibly Smillie / Langford / Jagga at pick #6 then bring Dyson next year with #1 then FOS no longer becomes a priority and its a nice to have.

I honestly cant see any team in the top 14 that would be looking to trade out of this years draft for a future selection and the only team that may consider it would be Richmond with #10 or #11 but that wouldnt be the straight swap which is not ideal for North.

I just think the best think for North would be #2 for #6 + #18 and hold onto the future 1st rounder

Re-quoting as I feel you might be the first Richmond supporter to suggest 6 be part of any deal. Congrats!!
I have been astonished at the lack of pick 6 in anyone's posting from a tigers side.....I would be dumbfounded if we traded 2 without 6 being involved. I do hope it's not 18 as the "steak knives" though, as we are taking a risk on Tauru, if it is indeed Tauru, not being there at 6. The Dees recruiter, Taylor, is pretty friggin shrewd, so we could very well lose the 18 in a forced hand/trade type vibe.
I am still of the opinion that 6+11 is fair trading, but I get why Richmond don't.

6+10+11 for 2 and F1 is where I think things could be......but that will set this joint off in minutes.

Again though, Tigers with the first 2 picks 2 years in a row would be nuts...even worse case pick 1 and 3 in year 2 is silly good. We ain't climbing to 15th or 14th next year....but the year after, look out!!

Thats in a normal year but i would highly doubt that would happen this year where Futures are not rated
