Remember the times, not so long ago, when it was widely believed that we couldn't afford to bottom out, and if we ever finished down the bottom it would kill the club. Now fast forward to 2021 - on the eve of 2022 season there is nothing but positive vibes around the club, both on and off the field, despite the first spoon for 50 odd years

Yes I do agree on that but that doesn’t take away the purpose of the comments, it’s a backhanded comment. There are obvious transphobic comments such as “is it going to be a stripper” and “his name is dean”

And I just saw more disgusting comments by 2 lovely posters here on twitter.

Dani who was known as Dean can call themselves whatever they want. To label people as transphobic who have opposing views called opinions on the matter is just as bad i think. That isnt harrassment nor is it discrimination. Its a fact.

As soon as i saw the pictures this morning i knew what the press would be running with, not surprising really, its become more about clickbait and less about the news lately.

You have to understand that any sad old men shouting at clouds about Peter Scanlon are most likely still holding a grudge over the wharfies vs Patrick Stevedores dispute in the 1990s. It has nothing to do with football club governance.

So it is partly about security, but it is also about having the resources in the future. If a rich benefactor gave us $1m that was put into an investment that earned a conservative 8% on average back in 1970 then it would have been worth $50m this year and generating over $4m. Imagine the security and opportunity having that investment would have given us today. We never had that but we have the opportunity of creating something like that for the next generation and the only ways to do it is to either have the money, someone gives you the money, or you get into debt.

I've been banging this drum for a few years and agree 100%. As much as it is great to put more resources into the club, football and development I would love to see a post debt clubs setup where we also put a proportion of income into a "Forever Fund" that provides stability and resiliency irrespective of what happens on or off field.

I don't always agree with Ligma and I appreciate that some of us can tend to be a little trigger happy in labelling others as transphobic or homophobic or racist or misogynist or what have you. However, in this instance, I'm trying to figure out what you are saying. Do you object to the label of transphobia and think that calling someone transphobic is just as bad as actually being transphobic? Because that sh!t is straight out of the Eddie McGuire / Peter van Onselen "I'm the victim here" playbook. It doesn't fly.

If your opinion or your opposing view is that the trans experience is a lie, then by definition, your opinion is transphobic and that makes you a transphobe. Likewise, if you hold the opinion that women are less capable or that any specific race of people is untrustworthy, then your opinions are racist and misogynistic, and guess what? That makes you a racist and a misogynist. Now, that isn't meant as harassment or discrimination but it is a fact.

A close second to the fiscal announcement was seeing the various main figures from different eras presenting together. Laidley's role in staving off execution can mever be understated as James said and kudos to Brad for speaking very well as always.

Seeing Miller and Pagan up there might've been an extra cherry on top but the club hit this one out of the park.

This is a moment of vindication.

I've grown up constantly hearing "Lol povvo Norf", "Kangas should just fold", "Shoulda gone to Gold Coast" etc from Family (mostly Essendon btw), schoolmates and work colleagues. This own site has a base of trolls that delight in our seemingly precarious status.

Throughout all this I've been pretty meek in response tbh, laughing it off or being diplomatic. No more. Make no mistake this is an irrefutable **** you to those that wish ill on this great club. You were proven wrong.

I'm not going to accept cheap potshots at this great club anymore. Those that give the same old rubbish can expect a gutful back.

We've never been in a better position offield during my lifetime and the excitement for the next era is palpable. LFG!
