I heard their coach interviewed yesterday. She acknowledged North have been the clear standout team this season and appear to have every base covered positionally.

When asked if she’d reviewed the game at Western Oval from earlier in the year, for pointers leading up to next weekend, she said “absolutely, thoroughly”.

She reminded the interviewer that we smashed them and scored heavily in the first half, but especially the first quarter, and then the rain came and they changed up their matchups and made a real game of it.

She said the matchups this week will mirror the second half of that game, not the start, and she knows it’s a mountain they’ll need to climb if they’re to win.
Way to give up the game plan. Hopefully Crocks has seen this and planned accordingly. I know it was probably the weather but the second half of that game was not great.

The "real game of it" that they made was a slogfest in which they kicked a single goal. Bit of revisionism there.

My immediate thought as well. I presume it was her round about way of saying they found a way to be competitive rather than the early witches hats impression they began with.

And the match was done n dusted

Plus we were in the middle of 4-5 games in 20 days

We looked spent.

It was hard to se how we looked through the driving rain in the second half. Of course Loz will talk it up but that was not a form line.

I’m sure we are planning for the side that turned Hawthorn inside out in that last quarter they played. It was ridiculous.

Let's not forget Port were also in the middle of a 5-game run in three weeks, they did get an extra night's rest, but they also had to travel to Melbourne for two games in four days.

Who the **** are they?
Nice article.

It’s interesting with Sarah, I think she reads the play as well as anyone on our team. At the ground you really notice how she positions herself a kick ahead of play and is a massive part of the defensive structure.

Watching the replays I find there can be times where she is in the position to shepherd a team mate and just lets the opponent breeze past her, or misses the opportunity to physically influence a contest. Throw in the odd disposal blunder (which happens to many of the players) and I think that’s where some of the criticism comes in.

She seems one of the most athletic and strongly built players on our list. I hope she sticks around a bit longer.

In the event we do win the flag I wouldn’t be surprised if a couple of players hung up the boots. I hope it’s not the case.

My 21yo daughter will be rapt with this news
Just another mediocre mid tempo pop rock Triple J act is how I would sum them up
I haven't listened to Triple J since about 2007. They had two dickheads from Frenzel Rhomb hosting the Breakfast show and one of the losers came out with the statement "no song worth listening too has the Saxophone in it" or something to that effect, and I thought WOW! music has passed me by and flicked over to ABC News Radio and have been waking up to it ever since.

We rocked up at the Bangalow Bowling club in about 1994 with a bag of mushrooms and Frenzel Rhomb were playing. We gave them a bunch and they were never the same.

I also gave up on it a long time ago (although I find Double J really good, much better playlist/presenters), but having 21 & 19yo daughters keeps it on my radar and it's nigh on unlistenable to me these days. I find it interesting they have jumped on a band like Amyl and The Sniffers (who I love) really late in the piece. The time when they would break a band like this is long gone

If I was to do a podcast, it would be about all the great songs with saxophone. But I'm well outside the Triple J target audience.

Start with Roxy Music's Remake/Remodel and Ladytron and go on from there. :)

Reading about how she has been juggling work and footy, it’s quite extraordinary what so many of these women achieve and how committed they are. And they couldn’t do it without very supportive partners and families.

That's still giving them too much credit though, I think. If your team can't shut down the play in that kind of weather you've got massive problems. She could just talk about how much they've improved since then which they clearly have.
