Tough watch today, hopefully no injuries, take the 4 pt's and move on. Bresnehan sorely missed, Gatt is developing nicely
Yeah in addition to great positioning and holding her width according to instructions, Taylah Gatt is now making those tackles stick. If she commits to her gym training and development of her body, she's going to start really hurting opponents in a year or two.

Jas Ferguson has been getting all the plaudits and repeat selections in AFLW team of the week but I thought Sarah Wright was the standout defender today. They are both complimenting one another very well and when one gets recognition, it is at least in part off the back of hard and underappreciated work from the other. Hopefully Wrighty gets her dues this week.

Yeah the aspect of Arden St Oval is basically NW to SE. A sou'wester as you observed means straight across the ground.
When H2H mentioned earlier about the boundary throw in that went almost nowhere, I think that may have been straight into it (a SW) - from the scoreboard pocket.

Various winds at play today.

Sure but the wind maps will say that it swirled between west and south, and never from north or east.

One thing I noticed today was O'Loughlin is a real terrier. She's unlucky with her snaps on goal, but hard body, crunching tackle, heaps of forward 50 defensive pressure. I was a skeptic until I saw her efforts in real time.
She’s got the old tunnel vision when she’s around goal - even tried to banana one from 45 when she was caught on her left foot
Really like full bore at every contest

To be fair, she had the ball in the pocket last week late in the game and could have taken a snap at goal to win the game but she centred it and a Brisbane player intercepted. It's a real damned if you do and damned if you don't position at times.

Watched the Hawks/Lions game yesterday and Ashmore got caught holding the ball twice in the third, both leading to Lions' goals, the only goals for the term.
Gave the Lions all the momentum and not something you want from one of your experienced leaders and (I assume) one of their better-paid players.

I’m still curious to know what her beef was with north

Her brother commented at the time on her insta leaving post that we didn’t do right by her

Making it up to her old old team for doing the same thing in a grand final.

The hall monitor has spoken. Spoken complete crap, but that's to be expected.

North Melbourne didn't decide to move Ashmore on. She was traded, per her request, after underperforming and subsequently turning her nose up at the contract offered by the club.

Ok boss. If you are who you claim to be, then I get the joke and we'll leave it at that.

Eliza Shannon deserves some credit as well, she has worked in seamlessly with the rest of our defensive unit and is still only 11 games into her career. In fact, I think the entire defensive unit should get the plaudits, 5 games into the season and they are conceding 16 points per game, and only 11 goals in total with at least two of those goals being gifts given by the umpires.

Also, the coach's votes are out, Riddell gets the perfect 10 this week, but Garner stays on top.

Surprised that Izzy Huntington never got a vote, the way the commentators were just banging on about her and Parker from go to whoa

One thing that struck me was how much of a protected species Jas Garner is not, she is 31st for free kicks with only 8, which should be at least double if the umpires were paying attention during centre bounces or other stoppages. The number of times she is held onto by her opponents is double digits every game but the umpires either don't see it or just ignore it.

Yes good call, Eliza Shannon has been a really good addition to the backline.
