It didn’t take an Einstein to realise that Friday night football would work in Australia too. North were the first to play Friday nights football mainly because they were desperate enough to risk alienating their supporters most of who would not turn up on Saturday anyway. OP obviously on something to mention Freo in the opening rant. Have had roughly 1 Friday night game in our entire existence.
So much so I had to google if it was an actual regular part of the season to play footy on a Friday night - not just a once in a generation novelty.
Turns out they do it almost every week!!

How dense can you be? That's literally the reason why our ground is being expanded, again. Before our home game average is brought down by the lower capacity we sat alone at the top as recent as this year. Objective and irrefutable proof - more people in Melbourne want to watch Geelong than they do their Melbourne franchises.

The Draw Card. The Big Show. Under 75k and we don't head up the highway, AFL and Vic Govt know this, they pay us for the privilege.
