If he didn't have a Goldstein jumper on I'd say it was *edited*

The only time it is acceptable to touch a player is if it's a friendly pat on the back to a player on your team, or a high five.

That was simply crossing the line. You never hit an AFL player like that, and as a cheer squad member it makes it all the more serious for North Melbourne. The cheer squad might be fined for that.

Was stupidity but banned for life? Give me a break.

The reason he was pissed off was cause motlop kicked the ball straight at the cheer squad when he could have just tapped it in or kicked it up rather than flat and try and take someone's head off

Would like to see it again, but to me it looked like it was a reasonably gentle kick, certainly not a Gehrig/Lockett-style bullet.

The scene for those who didn't see it, was Motlop running into an open goal, Firrito chasing. Motlop goals, Firrito finally catches him and grabs his jumper about a metre past the line. They tangle momentarily, nothing malicious and Motlop then had his back to the crowd. While Firrito is still holding him, the North supporter (late teens-early 20s I'd say...looks very weedy), gives him what I'd describe as a gentle clenched fist shove to about the top of the number on Motlop's jumper. Motlop spins around and the North supporter is abusing him. Motlop thinks better of it and gestures to security.

Re: Dog Act North Supporter

Needs to be made an example of and be fined the 5K like people who go on the ground. And yes, lifetime ban.

Re: Dog Act North Supporter

I'd be ashamed if I barracked for this side, lowest ever crowd at Etihad to witness?

Not sure of the exact crow figure, but from watching on television, I've seen Etihad look much emptier on a number of occassions. Maybe they're doing the smart thing and filling things up from the front row and opposite to camera first :p Could just be the position/volume of the crowd mics, but they're making a decent amount of noise too.

Level 3 isn't open, so all the fans are squashed into the lower levels.

Warning for all in this thread.

If the name "Norf" is mentioned again it is an Infraction as enough is enough and club trolling nick names are not allowed and against the BF Main Board rules. If any North Melbourne posters on BF are referred to as being the suspect in question again it is also an Infraction.

Reminder that this is not Bay 13 and those types of posts will not be tolerated and keep it civil and on topic without attacking supported teams.

I haven't seen it, but it sounds like it wasn't that hard and a brain snap so a life ban is probably a little too far especially if he is a few screws lose, probably a ban from the cheer squad is a fair punishment?

I'd like to point out that a fine by anyone except the police/magistrate isn't enforceable - and that can't happen unless Motlop decides to lay charges.

I suspect that North will come out and publicly decry the incident and revoke membership/cheer squad membership if the offender has these.

I don't think that the stadiums/AFL will ban him from games, but I find that one hard to guess.

IMO it's only acceptable if initiated by the player ie the Hird Hug, it should never be initiated by the fans

Imagine him punching Barry Hall. Very lucky Motlop handled it well.

The guy wouldn't be awake right now if he'd hit Hall or someone with similar anger issues.

Well there you go. Why don't they do this more often there? I've watched games on television from there in the past with low crowd numbers, and there seems to be about 3 people sitting on the lower deck, and you'll think "geez, shit crowd", but then they'll pan out showing the whole ground, and you'll see everone stuffed in up on level three. I've never been to Etihad, but for those that have, is it actually a better view of the ground upstairs (I know close to the edge of the balcony on the Northern Stand at AAMI Stadium probably gives the best views at that ground), or do people not usually get a choice (lower levels closed/unavailable for low-attendance games)?

Come on lets not take things too seriously, footy is a phyisical game... I'm sure Motlop is not too concerned, four goals now and Port a fighting chance...

The guy is an idiot, but the incident was very amusing for mine...

Nothing amusing about a supporter touching players. That's why they have a fence, to keep them apart.

Haven't sat on the lower levels, but I'm of the opinion that the supporters who pay their money should sit wherever the hell they feel like, not sit where they're forced to, to make it look better for those of us parked on the couch.

I thought the same thing when I read the title. The ranga just grabbed Motlop's arm with minimal force.

From the footage i saw live the person in question out stretched his arm and with a clenched fist more pushed Motlop behind his right shoulder with it and it was not a proper punch if you know what i mean. But at the end of the day he made contact with Motlop with a clenched fist which will be labeled as a punch.

I did not see him grab Motlop at all from the footage i saw.
