Great to see that in The Australian* today, the team lists for all clubs are shown as "Name: Nickname" (eg Carlton Blues) except for one - "North Melbourne". No Kangaroos, nuffin but North Melbourne. The message is getting through loud and clear.

Maybe it is time to change this board's name to North Melbourne and drop the North Melbourne Kangaroos tag too.

One of the most annoying things listening to commentary this year is commentators forcing themselves to say North Melbourne instead of Kangaroos, and in the process destroying the line of commentary. I am sorry. It is excessive. Just let the change happen (back to 'NM')instead of forcing it.

True...it's ridiculous. The only thing that was more frustrating was of course 'Nor...errrr...Kangaroos' for the years previous. In that light 'Kanga...err...North Melbourne' ain't so bad! Just goes to show the IQ of common potato...err commentators.

Seems like the media, yet again, are stuffing this up.

We are the North Melbourne Kangaroos. I like the Kangaroos, the Roos, the Roo-Boys etc. Its our identity. The problem was with removing our heritage by dropping North Melbourne. All we wanted was to be restored to pre- dropping North Melbourne from our name. Call us North, call us North Melbourne or call us the Kangaroos... just don't be mutually exclusive on one (this is aimed at commentators- the scoreboard should always say N.M.).

I think I just realised that the media are just a bunch of brainless maroons

I am proud of us having Australia's national symbol and icon as our mascot and part of our team name, it is a very good marketable icon, I am just glad we are not the pastic whoring kangaroos but the North Melbourne Kangaroos.

In the last couple of years its either been, "THE ROOS ARE GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS AND ARE CLINGING ONTO THEIR LEAD" or "NORTH ARE GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS AND ARE CLINGING ONTO THEIR LEAD." But I get your point.
