News North offer for Maynard

Twomey reckons it'll only need a 800-850k offer to wedge him out.

As I said earlier in the thread people were losing their shit over Jay ****ing Clark and his sensationalist, clickbait bullshit.

Always look at the source before losing your shit

The idea of recruiting Pendles is one I can get around & very smart thinking by Brady & co

Best way to ensure Boomer keeps the games record

I don't really care either way. It's a team sport.

I just wouldn't go after Pendles as our midfield is one area of the ground that seems to be ok.

Something like a 196cm+ 22 year old CHF would do if we are going to persist with Chom back. They can have our 2026R1. I DGAF.

I would happily give him 4 at $850k

He'll be what, 32 in year 4?

Same people falling for the clickbait in here. Like clockwork.

Would be elite for training standards with the young blokes if nothing else. Listening to his work on the Howie games pod was fascinating
Yep we are targeting the right people

And putting an emphasis on people who have won premierships and know what the ultimate success looks like

Every day of the week. Almost an archetypal Clarko player, sets the standards re: attack on footy and contest (and sometimes the man) that many of us on here crave. If a large amount of BF posters get their wish for McDonald to be done then he's a plug and play - imagine him and Jacko terrorising fwd/hfwd lines

The desire on the weekend was fantastic but we'd still be naive to expect that every week for an entire season, using a sample size of every team over the past 15 years. Maynard is a player that can set a standard midgame as to what's expected if we're flat or don't rock up, particularly once guys like Parker and Darling are done on the short-term horizon

RIVALS EXPECT MAYNARD TO STAY A PIE

Clubs expect heart-and-soul Magpie Brayden Maynard to remain at Collingwood despite reports of a lucrative bid from North Melbourne.

Chief Herald Sun reporter Jay Clark first reported over the weekend the Kangaroos could table Maynard a head-turning five or six-year deal worth as much as $1 million per season.

However rival list managers spoken to by foxfooty.com.au would be surprised if Maynard left Collingwood.

The 28-year old said last month he was expecting to sign a new deal with the Pies instead of entering unrestricted free agency, but more recently suggested he’s keeping his options open.

It comes as Dan Houston and Harry Perryman arrived at Collingwood last off-season on $900,000 deals, while Maynard’s current contract is estimated to be worth up to $700,000 ahead of intriguing talks between the premiership backman and the club.

While a big-money Roos offer could blow the Pies out of the water, list bosses highlighted it’s rare for a player to leave a club purely for money, if they’re happy at the club they’re at.

Of course, things could change throughout the season.

Maynard’s departure could net the Pies a first-round pick — which they don’t currently have — as free agency compensation.

But Collingwood wouldn’t want to lose Maynard with several veterans in the twilight of their careers including fellow back six stalwart Jeremy Howe, plus Scott Pendlebury and Steele Sidebottom.

The Pies are also linked to father-son gun Tom McGuane, who’s expected to go in the first round of a compromised draft with academy prospects, though the club could always use a combination of later picks as points to match a McGuane bid.

Collingwood CEO Craig Kelly earlier this month said the club was taking a realistic approach to contract dealings with Maynard.

“He’s one of the most loved and important players for our club,” Kelly said on SEN radio.

“We do our very best and whatever we can do to get in front of (his manager) Tommy Petroro and ‘Bruzzy’ too, to show him our love and what we can do financially while managing our TPP (total player payments).

“But if someone desperately wants him and wants to pay him a heap more for a longer period of time, everyone should be going, ‘Good luck mate, if that opportunity is there, even though we’d love you to be here, we want you to be here’.”

Pies may not have a choice in the end regarding letting Maynard go if the want Tom McGuane . However we dont want them to get a 1st round pick so offering a contract that would let them have it should be looked at very carefully. l wouldn't mind $850k over 4 years so long as it only gets them band 2 but l'm not sure if it would..

Pendlebury can come in a off field role only I think in the AFL we live in
1:Can handle Lockett kicking the most goals
And
2:Harvey game record should never be passed

Secret Sauce...

The AFL will do whatever it wants regarding free agency compensation.

I don't understand.

Perhaps have another crack in English or German or Spanish. I can speak the last 2 better than you can write English, so you'll be right. I back you in. Start with a point and work your way back, typically aim for the reader/listener to be able to respond. It's called communication.

Spin-doctor Kelly knows he's going and just pushing the price up to get Band 1 through the media.

They'll have one eye on that upcoming rebuild and will need draft capital.
