North.. On the wrong track?

Beaten well by a Collingwood seconds.

As a die hard, it's obvious the fundamental mistakes.

What's wrong with this team they can't deliver in a big game.

For me it's a long way back.

Players like Lindsay Thomas, sniping dog, cheap goal hero that will only ever add stats to a goal tally. Not even close to a player that will deliver when it matters.

Lachlan Hansen. Dumb. Painful to watch.

Should have played Daw instead of Hansen. Should have delisted Lindsay Thomas the fraud.

Gibson, Anthony? Duds.

Big rebuild needed. But not sure will happen when it needs to start with bunny assistants that have been around too long.

Brett Allison, Shane Watson. Time to go

You're a bit hard on them...IMHO.
1st game of the season and they lose byb 16 points. No real damage there and they proved that they weren't pushovers. OK, basic fundamental mistakes made, but which team doesn't make mistakes.
North will do a lot better than some of the teams going around right now......believe you me.

Cheers mate and I hope you are right. But that was one disappointing loss yesterday.

He defended Thomas who Buckley tried to character assassinate for a head clash, I thought he was well within his rights to tell Buckley to back off.
I was actually referring to the sponsor board thing just as much. Did not need to do that and you have it admit it was not his best moment.

Thomas will go for that and Buckley is absolutely right. If you instigate a bump then the onus is upon you to avoid the head clash. Scott had no right to spit the dummy about Buckleys comments.
According to the North FB page Thomas has no case to answer.

The MRP has said the contact to (Reid's) head was caused by 'circumstances outside control of player, which couldn't be reasonably foreseen.'

Buckley went against the code so shouldn't have said too much.

Scott was probably partly annoyed that bucks rested 2 of his better players just before the game, and still strolled to victory with half a team.

Not good signs for North and will struggle to improve on last year, even with the boring mid season flutter.

Pushovers? Without Harvey they are ordinary, this side just isn't made for finals. Is as simple as that. A much less talented version of Carlton with Petrie and culture.

Hey Spork. No one cares.

Good though to find some balanced and reasoned posts from Collingwood and Richmond supporters.
Our kicking as pathetic yesterday and cost us the win. Swan Pendlebury Cloke and Sidebottom took this side to a flag and they may do that again. Class.

I'm loath to judge North too early because we play them in two weeks, and they could definitely beat both Geelong and Sydney but they're a team that needs to be at 95% to win most games. When they drop off it's usually quite dramatic.

I think the bigger thing is how much a lot of people are underrating Collingwood. They won a flag in 2010 and made the grand final in 2011, with largely the same team they have today. Their depth is the best in the league and there's still no shame in going down by 2-3 goals to a side that should easily be top 4 this season.

Win or lose, the next two games will tell us a lot about the Kangaroos. They generally struggle against hard opponents and Geelong and Sydney are as hard as they come, so if they lose both games comfortably then it'll be fair to make the call that they haven't improved. I think they'll seriously push both teams and might pull off a win.
Good post. Cant disagree with much here.

Basically it came down to delivery in forward 50. Not looking at stats I would have thought the inside 50s, clearances etc looked roughly even the big difference was the our last kick to the forwards were regularly spoiled or dropped. The pies hit targets a lot better, although i think the forwards had a part in this (a lot of dropped marks, again the pies were taking marks in similar situations) if that continues to happen we need somebody to ensure that the ball is locked in because no matter how hard to try to track back you are going to leave yourself vulnerable to the rebound.

So Brad Scott thinks they killed us from rebound but wants 3 tall forwards and 1 mediocre small forward on the list. The Hansen/Tarrant dream will fail, both aren't good enough yet and equal 1 decent player at best. Daw offers something different so hopefully Hansen can learn CHB. Black should be introduced ASAP to start building for next year. Without Harvey and using a poor mans Eddie Betts as an avenue to goal, won't win the big games. Needed to recruit a decent small forward but missed that boat. Very bad loss to half a team. And some of those 12 point plays were the difference. The non mark to Thomas as the umpires are onto him, the 50 to lynch... Dumb football.
North are predictable, structures and personnel wrong.
Out Hansen, Thomas in some element of consistency and growth.

I was going to come in here and bag out OP for over reacting to Round 1 but I can see there's already 7 pages of that. ;)

Not worried. Odd choice of gameplan from Scott but since when has North performed well in Round 1 anyway?

Yea not since Thomas and Hansen came to the club

Thomas who kicked 4 goals to prevent a flogging?
Cheap goals that instill a reliance that's just nowhere to be found.. Last half. West coast last year etc.
Teams prefer this clown having shots than a Petrie or Tarrant.

Thomas is fools gold. Will cost more games than he's worth.

It's only round 1, but the bottom line is this - north went into this game missing Brent Harvey from their best 22, collingwood went in missing Thomas ball shaw beams young fasolo and possibly didak and krakouer who are fringe best 22 this year with the development of Sinclair and Elliott. They then lost Johnson by half time and Reid half way through the 3rd quarter , yet even with a man down on the bench and all that quality missing they were putting north to the sword until the inevitable tired legs kicked in midway thru the last quarter. Bottom line , in the circumstances north should have won this game in a canter. A horrendous result for them
Agreed, we got the Pies at the right time, should have capitalised. In the end, their youngsters stood up, Cloke & Pendlebury showed leadership.

Too many of our players didn't do enough, too many turned the ball over under pressure, or even when not under pressure.

So... Drop Thomas?

Without Harvey they are ordinary
Obviously you're a fake-North supporter troll.

Collingwood deserved to win, we made some terrible errors - both skills and decisions. To be within a few kicks shows that we're not as terrible as some trolls make us out to be. The Pies had some best 22 players out but so did we. Pendlebury killed us, I hope he doesn't turn into another Buddha Hocking against us. Good luck to the Pies this year, they'll be there abouts again.

Have to laugh at Bucks though, a "pretty average" act "off the ball" and the MRP say no case to answer.
