North releases Harvey, Dal Santo, Petrie and Firrito

We won't bottom out, we are a club that traditionally finishes lower mid table when we rebuild, because we use trades to keep us competitive.

We will play finals next year. Easily.

One game?

Nobody is questioning North's decision to start getting younger but you can't delist half your team in one season. Boomer is still performing better than many of those other older players (& younger for that matter). He should have been given the choice of one more season.
For how long? Ever

I can't stand Harvey but hell if a player is playing to the standard he is, age should not be a factor. I would suggest that he should be given a year contract and then if injures or form become a factor you would de-list him. Hopefully another team picks him up for a year and may actually get a few years out of him if his longevity continues.

Please explain why it is deplorable

Really?

You've just conceded your season is over.

Don't get me wrong, we all know North weren't getting far in September (and that's ok), but you're acting like a club that are not playing finals.

I can tell you that one of the media managers at another club is absolutely astonished at how bad this move is.

Ah you gotta love the stealth troll.

There is a CHANCE that this is the last melbourne game. It would be deplorable for these blokes to go out in front of a souless sydney crowd.

Even if these blokes wanted to keep playing the decision was made that their time at north was up. 3 of the 4 are cooked and the last one is 38.

We keep them all and we will be dropping 8 senior players next year in 1 big move.

According to the AFL Player Statistics, Boomer has been the 25th most productive player in the league over the past two seasons. He is the second highest ranked North player behind Goldstein.

It begs the question: when was the last time a player this good has been delisted let alone retired? Also when was the last time a club delisted one of their top three players?
How is Bartel tracking? He maybe the next to go.

Brent Harvey decision is perfectly reasonable and so is the Petrie decision because they are to old and not good enough. I think that terminating the contact of Dal santo is a bit harsh because he is still a good player. Maybe they just delisted Dal santo to bring there age average to 40... Lol.

Lol - you have been trying to retire him for 5 years.

By media manger do you mean Rines or Fog Dog?

I'm sure those stats overrate Harvey's game.

I'd only have him slightly ahead of Stevie J last year, certainly hard to think of anyone better.

In terms of playing your role in big games that matter I think Brian Lake wasn't that far off.

Ok then. Tell me, how are we treating them like shit?

We are giving them all a chance to say goodbye to their melbourne fans. Would they rather say their goodbyes in a souless sydney crowd?

They are all free to play elsewhere.

What if Harvey isnt retiring and will play elsewhere?

Your just jumping on the Hate Norf bandwagon.

I don't hate North. I'm from Perth so I don't really buy into the Essendon/North rivalry.

With Boomer, you could've let him call his own press conference. Tap him on the shoulder and say it's time, please retire.
The likely hood of Boomer being picked up by another team is slim to none.

The all time games record holder going out as delisted just seems a bit poor.

Not letting Harvey go out on his own terms is poor form from North, especially when he's playing so well. Even just the announcement is an amateur move, especially on the eve of finals, but it's not really a surprise either from an amateur club.

Much better to honour your 400 gamers by letting them retire in disgrace after a doping ban.
