that call on Marcus was fairly late in the last quarter wasn't it?The umps aren't making that call that late in the game regardless of who is playing.

a lot of things are not heard on the football oval, that doesn't change the fact that certain players from certain teams get warnings before frees like this and for the other players they get pinged instantly.Common sense rules apply. The Collingwood player believed it wasn't 15 and wouldn't have heard the whistle due to the crowd noise. Play on.
Nick Daicos should have been done for holding the ball though.
That is the rule though.
It’s not play on until the umpire calls play on.
Should have been 50.
It’s funny how protected they are. The umpire in the Freo game actually had the balls to try to put a halt to their delaying tactics. The media then has a big cry about poor Collingwood instead of doing the right thing and bring up how often they use these tactics. Blight on our game.Call it sour grapes or whatever but those umpires were genuinely scared of a crowd.
Sure you get stuff wrong but at least have the pride in yourself that you're not a coward. Nup not those umpires. Good job guys
That's true. Richmond would 100% get pinged for that and so would many other clubs/players.a lot of things are not heard on the football oval, that doesn't change the fact that certain players from certain teams get warnings before frees like this and for the other players they get pinged instantly.
Pigs arse, they'd blow the whistle in a heartbeat if the roles were reversedThe umps aren't making that call that late in the game regardless of who is playing.
No the umpire decided momentum took him past the mark. He's then decided the defenders were in there right to think he may have played on. He then chose to reset the mark.Should've been play on, when it wasn't it should've been 50. Umpire chickened out on 2 calls.
Collingwood taken to the cleaners once again by the umps. Disgraceful trend.Don't forget Jiath placing a hand on Xerri's back as the ball went over the boundary line. Free paid for something that happens 30 times a game. Xerri kicks it.

The umpires are able to use common sense in this situation and reset the mark.
The umps wouldn't have had to, Nick Daicos would have already awarded Collingwood the 50.Pigs arse, they'd blow the whistle in a heartbeat if the roles were reversed
I'm happy to accept the umpire made the right call.Think we just take it and accept we got a good one.
Had a few cheaps frees that led to goals that even led to being in striking distance champ.
Probably no more than 6 or 7 goals worth though. Almost half of the come back occurred organically, if a team can't kick an extra 2 goals a quarter to get around our umpires then they can't win, simple as that.
What horsehit! Common sense when they feel like it. FMD no wonder the game is as poorly umpired as everNo the umpire decided momentum took him past the mark. He's then decided the defenders were in there right to think he may have played on. He then chose to reset the mark.

Thank god there is the occasional umpire out there willing to make the correct decision regardless of time on the clockthat call on Marcus was fairly late in the last quarter wasn't it?
It is rare the umps asks a player to go back over the mark in the field of play unless they are going for a shot on goal. I think the umps need to but that would take time off the game. It's also a rule that the player needs to kick over their mark in line with the goals. Because of the way he marked it, he was 5 steps in towards the centre and in fact, our players weren't even close to the original mark.
Hudson said it was 50 and yet Healey (who ****en hates us!) said he looks like he was playing on (and he was definitely at least thinking about it).
Ultimately, I think forcing him back over the mark was a fair compromise.
