Keep all the flashy blokes who couldn't get a hard ball in a final if they tried. Might pay for them to go out and get a couple of tough hard onballers. Similar to Harvey from Heidelberg. Thats the type of players they need to win finals.
How do people think Bundy will go. I have my doubts about them in finals to.

12 teams makes for a 22 round season... It is a squeeze now with cricket... my mail has been 11 teams div 1 with 1 bye making 18 round season... North may come down with the two grand finalist to advance... I think there is a lot of water to go under bridges yet though... There was even a rumor of combining EDFL 3rd div with NFL 3rd div...??? Lots of new things could be in the mix in the next decade...

11 teams, would mean 20 rounds 18 games and 2 byes each this would ensure all teams get 9 home games. 20 rounds is possible as the Div1 season is already 20 weeks in length, Queens birthday and split round included. Going back to two div's would require discussion, I remember at the time there was lots of club negativity around Div 3, has that subsided? I would have thought the best for the NFL is to get a team in 3rd Div to make that an 8 side comp rather than going back to 2 divisions.
 
11 teams would mean 22 rounds, with 20 games 2 byes
10 home and 10 away
With the two byes the split round and Queens birthday rounds would not be needed.

That aside, why change? This year has been the best most competitive season in living memory. I don't think it's broken.

As long as there as at least 24 teams, 3 division will be retained. If their is less than 24 then 3rd division is not viable then there would have to changes.

There are rumours that North Heidelberg will merge/fold. That still leaves 24 clubs. Are there any other clubs that are on the brink of disbanding?

Fact ; North are not folding... Have retained 95% of their players and starting to plan now...

Matthew Amad has resigned as senior coach at Northcote Park. He became a father this year and combined with his developing business reckons that he does not have time. A legend of the Club, Matthew will always be highly regarded at the Cougars.

If the NFL want to lose sides, then that is the way to go, al lthe D3 sides will be totally uncompetitive in D2 and smashings will happen each week...
 
hey guys
just wondering if any of the teams from the nfl would consider a move to the edfl with division 3 forming next year. for those of you who dont know how it will work. the start of the season all the teams in division 2 and teams that have just joined will play in b grade. then once all the teams have played each other once the bottom group of teams will break away and for division 3.
 
Unless the Northern FL lose a club or two, they should stick with 3 divisions.

Probably not.

I remember someone suggesting that the NFL & EDFL division 3 sides should play each other which was an interesting idea and not without merit. Whether it would work, who knows.

It won't happen but i suppose another option would be merge EDFL & NFL & have 5 divisions??

well what a waste of week this has been reading about this crap. lets get onto the real deal. finals footy.the tiges against the all conquering bulls.its what everyone has been waiting for all year.can the tiges overcome all odds to win.its going to be close. the winner straight into the grand final.cant see us winning but will we have done better than my preseason forecast.www.heidelbergfc.com.au for all your tiger info.the rumour is that we lost a few players thru mosquito bites last week.still chuckling over the green knuckle heads.

JUST QUICKLY... Even though I'm not in the inner-sanctum loop at NFL HQ anymore, I can't imagine Divvy 3 being abandoned under any circumstances. So I'm pretty sure we've all been wasting our time about a non-issue when we could have been talking about the most exciting finals series the league has seen in forever!

Now to the real action...

Bundoora, despite missing the best full back in the business, to just get over the line against the Berg. Reckon the Michael Mitchell vs Mark Favrin duel COULD just about decide the contest.

West Preston to be too strong and too experienced against my old mob on Sunday. Can't help but wonder what might have been for the mighty Boro if Conlan "Keg on Legs" Gunn hadn't booked his overseas trip so early in the year - the little man is perfect for finals footy.

Intriguing insight into Boro's game plan last week JC - perhaps you are closer to the inner sanctum than you let on. Consult the tea leaves and enlighten us as to Jack's strategy for the Roosters this week - maybe an RPG or two for Rocca :)
