Appreciate the support "Blinded" but its the St.Marys Kookaburras, hence we are the BURRA!! Not the saints. Good win by our senior boys on saturday outclassed morang by a mile finally their hard work has been rewarded and their improvement has been shown by the last 4 weeks results getting closer to the top sides each week.

Will be interesting to see how Morang reply in the last round of the year. 1 all with the saints so far with another match up to come.

As I mentioned elsewhere, I'm back from solitary confinement and during my absence had a look at how the latter might shake out at season's end. Reservoir should finish on top, however the other positions aren't so clear cut. Although Panton Hill have the harder run home, they can finish with 48 points and grab the double chance from Hurstbridge assuming that home games against the other finalists are given as wins. The wildcard is that Hurstbridge play one less game than the other two and depending on how the results go then this could work in their favour to grad the double chance.

Reservoir (40 - 140.18) HWest (H), SMary (A), PHill (H), Bye. 52
Hurstbridge (36 - 181.35) PHill (A), Park (H), Bye, HWest (A). 44
Panton Hill (36 -159.77) Hurst (H), HWest (A), Resv (A), Park (H). 48
Parkside (32 - 162.70) SMor (H), Hurst (A), SMary (H), PHill (A). 40

And yes, my crystal ball gazing can easily be matched by others, so, .................

Looking forward to a massive match between PH & Hursty Saturday. Expect rezza & parkside to win the other matches.

Don't often post on Div 3 Forum but that is probably the most intelligent post I have seen in weeks.

For to long Clubs have used demographics as a excuse for juniors. YES you may not get as many but other Clubs close have got them and maintained them.

Its all up to how much work you put into them as to how many you get.

spot on here,

the problem isn't with not having enough kids, it's the process clubs have in place or should I say the process clubs do not have in place to transition from junior football to senior football

clubs are seduced by only looking after the seniors and too often neglect the kids, most clubs that don't have juniors or a large number of juniors is more to do with the lack of vision, planning and the lack of a long term plan.

The start of some season defining games ove rthe next couple of weeks:
Panton Hill vs Hurstbridge
Parkside vs South Morang
Reservoir vs Heidelberg West

Well, this part of the forum appears to have gone quiet after a few got stuck into Morang Lion and his predictions for last week and I see the rumour about Dallas King at the Devils may be true as he's out of tomorrow's side. So, for tomorrow:

Panton Hill vs Hurstbridge. The Redbacks have been in good form recently and the inclusions of some division 1 has certainly helped and they should be too good for the Bridges.
Parkside vs South Morang. A good opportunity for the Devils to ramp-up their percentage with a big, big win over a dispirited Lions outfit.
Reservoir vs West Heidelberg. The Mustangs delivered on the coaches promise last week and will certainly have no problems with the Hawks tomorrow.

Round 15 Review:

Panton Hill: |8|7|55|
def by
Hurstbridge |8|16|64|
Was at this game and saw a great contest. Hurstbridge who are a great running side definetly weren't used to the muddy conditions of Panton Hill. Panton Hill's attack on the footy in the first half was great and on the other hand Hurstbridge's forwardline looked disfunctional. This continued into the start of the 3rd quarter and led to Panton Hill leading by nearly 5 goals. But after a while Hurstbridge slowly got back into it and for the rest of the game were more determined then Panton Hill and eventually snuck home with a very important 4 points.
Next Opponent:
Panton Hill vs Heidelberg West @ Heidelberg West
Hurstbridge vs Parkside @ Parkside

Parkside: |31|10|196|
def
South Morang |7|8|50|
South Morang who are obviously struggling headed out to Alphington to face an inform Parkside team. Morang obviously struggled. The same cant be said about the Devils who got a very handy percentage boost ahead of what should be a very close call for top 4 positions. Interesting to see in the Northerner Record the Lions coach not happy with players after the St.Marys game.
Next Opponent:
Parkside vs Hurstbridge @ Home
South Morang have a bye

Reservoir |20|8|128|
def
Heidelberg West |17|4|106|
Can't say I saw the match but from the results it looks as if Heidelberg West gave a great showing against the Mustangs. If the boys from West take this kind of performance into next weeks game, and the rest of the season for that matter, then there is no doubting they will grab a win in 1 of their 3 games. For Reservoir its another win and another week on top of the ladder and another week they look like finishing on top at the end of the year. With just 2 games to go for the Mustangs, 1 of them is against St.Marys (no disrespect to the Burra) and the other 1 at home, you would have to think Reservoir will finish on top. Still anything is possible!
Next Opponent:
Reservoir vs St.Marys @ St.Marys
Heidelberg West vs Panton Hill @ Home

St Marys had a bye.
The Burra will return at home to face top of the table Mustangs and willl be desperate to knock them off. Reservoir should not take the Burra lightly as they are coming of a win and as we saw in the Parkside game, St.Marys can stick right with the good teams.

Love Your Work, WorkHorse ! Next weeks Hurstbridge vs Parkside will decide where the Bridges finish on the ladder. A win by them would secure the double chance via points and PCWon.

Thanks Chet appreciate it. :)

Your right it will be a very good game, I saw the round 4 clash between these guys and it was an absolute cracker.

If you look at the ladder now:

|1.|Reservoir | 11 | 2 | 138.28 | 44 |
|2.|Hurstbridge| 10 | 3 | 177.37 | 40 |
|3.|Parkside | 9 | 4 | 175.71 | 36 |
|4.|Panton Hill | 9 | 4 | 154.79 | 36 |

With Reservoir to play St.Marys Away and Panton Hill @ home and a bye, I can't see them losing top spot ,even with Panton Hill and Parkside playing 3 games, as you said the ladder goes by %won.

If Hurstbridge win this week, your right, it will pretty much guarantee them a double chance but on the other hand if Parkside win this week it will make their clash with Panton Hill in round 18 very interesting. Even more interesting if Panton Hill can get up over Reservoir.

In my eyes this is a very exciting, and even, competition! :thumbsu:

I completely agree with you workhorse about the Div 3 comp..its the best thing the NFL has done and it should have been implemented years ago!!!
We have lost so many teams through being absolutely smashed week after week in Div 2 i.e Fawkner Park, Kinglake and Wallan. At least teams are competitive between one another and not being on the end of 20 and 30 goal hidings week after week.

I play for St Marys and we are going really well at the moment, it takes time to be able to start a team from scratch but we are becoming a very competitive team. We have only played one under 19's player this year for only one game, as we have a policy of playing them in the 19's this year. However we will have 15 under 19's that will be playing seniors next year, therefore I would see us improving out of sight next year.

We will also be heading back to Whatmough park next year and hopefully to the best new clubrooms in the competition.

Great effort by the West boys on the weekend!

Stuck with Rezza all day and the result really could have went either way. If we can keep this up for the next few weeks then we may come close to winning a couple of games.

Keep it up boys!

is it true Docherty named in seconds for reservoir saturday , last two times he has played st Marys he has 30 kicks and 35 kicks both with 17 marks .... I know he has been away but bloody hell .....

Not on T/S or even in the country from my reports for the 2nd time they played, so must have been Jesus 2 to do all that?

3 Big games this weekend with some results perhaps showing where some teams will finish this season.

St.Marys (7th, W1, L11)
vs
Reservoir (1st, W11, L2)
@ Kelynack Reserve
Although on paper this is the most one sided contest, judging by form I think it will be a lot closer then a blow out. The ever improving Burra will host the all conquering Mustangs and will be looking to knock off the top team. A Mustangs win will almost guarantee a top spot finish. A win to St.Marys means that they have a chance of moving off the bottom of the ladder at the end of the year. Interesting to see Docherty not named in the Seniors side for Reservoir, having said that I still believe Reservoir will be too strong. Though, if they're not on their game, the Mustangs might get a shock as the Burra showed they can compete with the top teams against Parkside. Reservoir to run away with it.

Winner: Reservoir by 67 points

Heidelberg West (5th, W3, L10)
vs
Panton Hill (4th, W9, L4)
@ Heidelberg Park
Last time these 2 met the conditions were terrible but Panton Hill were still able to get up by 40 odd points. The Hawks, who are coming off a very impressive performance against Reservoir, will be looking to knock off the Redbacks. Panton Hill, on the other hand, need to win to keep their chances of a double chance alive. Panton Hill, who have been improving with the inclusion of some good Division 1 players throughout the year, will have a tough time against the boys from West, who have had their best season for some time. My tip is Panton Hill will be too strong across the board and win comfortably.

Winner: Panton Hill by 58 points

Hurstbridge (2nd, W10, L3)
vs
Parkside (3rd, W9, L4)
@ Ben Frilay Oval
In what should be the game of the round, Hurstbridge, who are returning from a gutsy win up at Panton Hill host an inform Parkside team coming off a big win against Morang. I watched these 2 play last time they met at this ground and it was an absolute classic. Lets hope we'll see another game like that! The Bridges will be pleased to be back on their firm surface at Ben Frilay Oval as they are a very good running team while the Devils will look to continue their good form and stop the Bridges train. This should be one hell of a game and I'm going for somewhat of an upset with Parkside to snatch victory in a tight contest.

Winner: Parkside by 4 points.

Heidelberg West vs Panton Hill. The Redbacks will be breathing a sigh of relief as they travel down from the hilltop and look to keep their double chances alive.
Hurstbridge vs Parkside. A true eight-pointer game. The Bridges have been playing good football of late while parkside are now getting into finals mode, so this should be a ripper of a game. The home advantage tips the scales the Bridges way which would then secure them the double change.
St Marys vs Reservoir. The Saints probably wished that they played last week to keep the momentum going so it will be interesting to see how they perform after the break. The Mustangs have all but secured the top spot so should take the points here.
