Will be a challenge for the selectors.

We've taken our battery of tall quicks who are successful in Australia to England for the last four tours and have lost every time.

Will we go with a horses for courses attack in 2019?
If James Anderson and Vernon Philander have taught us anything, And it appears they haven't, it's that a solid pace with movement troubles even the best batsman.

Would that end realistic hopes of playing at the highest level?
It's a niche role he plays. Suited to into the wind bowling, Duke ball, Eng or NZ conditions. Possibly pink ball tests. Adds variety to an attack.

I hope we don't close the door on that type of bowler.

But yes there's a danger he gets overlooked simply because he's just over average height and not quick.

I remember Bob Simpson saying that he thought a left armer who could swing the ball back in would impact test cricket in a similar way Warne did. He cited Alan Davidson as an example. He thought Bruce Reid was going to be that bowler but injuries ruined him.

Post shoulder yes, Alderman was quite swift in his youth from all reports
Yes, he was significantly quicker prior to the shoulder injury, but adjusted to cause batsman most grief post injury with the swinging ball.

SA chasing 330 to win are 1-49 at stumps

Knocked Tassie over for 164 in 50 overs. Mennie, Winter and Richardson 2 each and Worral 4/17 off 12
I can see another Redbacks tease coming up...
