I've found the complete opposite. Footy protocols strict - soccer protocols are non existent

I'm coaching a junior footy side and club has introduced a policy if the ball goes out of bounds and a parent throws the ball to the boundayy ump or a kid, the game stops and the ball has to be wiped with sanitizer wipes. Crazy stuff

not tedious at all!

also, I think AFL Vic doc currently states only people allowed at the venue are those required to complete the game?

Well that news another 6 weeks lock down in Melbourne is not the news we needed and the end of 2020 footy season for our juniors I presume.Makes you wonder about the future of the 2020/21 cricket season. That has buggered up Bob Beecroft's coaching career perhaps.

Unfortunately, that is now a distinct possibility for junior footy and cricket next season.

We are in a sh*t load off trouble gmac. A lot Worse than last time it started . We are in the unknown now .......

If this virus is still around start of 2021 footy season we can not continue to close down our community in Australia because of the low stats in death rates especially within the under 60,s.A lock down for all over 60's and a lock down for under 60's in visiting us guys is the only way I can see how we get out of this mess.Basically "us over 60 guys" have to be locked down, the rest of you guys with covid around can get around this one,a bit like a bad case of the flue. With those comments not sure how that stacks up against other countries.

well if the rest of the world (presuming all of the world population catches it) follows the US’s mortality rate (based on their “concluded cases”) we’ll end up with 800 million deaths worldwide including 220,000 in Australia
not sure that’ll fly

Those stats make sense ,bring on 2021/20 cricket season and lets write off cricket and footy season 2021 and we isolate our self from sport till 2022 until avaccine is found..

Can’t see there not being footy next year. Frustrating as not playing this year is it does buy time to see what can happen in the future.

Junior footy training stopped immediately & games extremely doubtful as you are all aware.

Sons soccer training still going ahead for tonight & no call on the start of the season as yet. Due to start this Saturday......

From the football (soccer) Victoria page, it's all over Red Rover at least for the six weeks initially. https://www.footballvictoria.com.au/news/update-following-stage-3-lockdown-across-parts-victoria

"The restrictions will come into force at 11:59pm on Wednesday 8 July and will last for six weeks.

FV understands that this means all football activity must be halted - inclusive of matches, training, clinics and group practice - for the length of the lockdown period in the affected areas. "

As much as it pains me to say it, but I can see community sport as one of the last things that gets going now.
While it’s obviously beneficial for everyone involved imo the first step needs to be getting businesses up and running so people can continue to afford to put dinner on their plates.
Granted there are some in community sport who are in that boat but I’d imagine the total number pales in comparison to those who own gyms, hotels, cafes etc

Soccer, both senior and junior gone for now.

It seems also gone AFL football in Melbourne in 2020 and there goes the grand final and Dan's public holiday as well.Really worried we will play local cricket in October now and making it really difficult to plan for season 2020/2021.On a brighter note Cliff which I am sure will cheer you up with the new cricket nets going up at Mitcham in August even you will be calling Walker Park the MCG of the East.Feel for Blackburn with their rooms and slow progress being made.Supposed to start Feb 2019 and finish Feb 2020.So many issues have delayed the works there and finishing date seems a long way away at the moment.

Seems to be a lot of works around the place. There’ll be a lot clubs coming back in 2021 to VERY impressive venues.

Mate has been sending me updates on this, $15m project apparently

Lets hope we can add Morton Park the home of the Blackburn F C to that list, surely it will be finished for the start of the 2021 footy season. The big worry with all that has happened with the covid virus all future works might be put on hold for a while but I am sure at the moment No.1 is a covid free 2021 and we get footy back on the grounds again.Mitcham was only 3.5M and I think Blackburn about 5M but that Lang Lang works looks real impressive.

Yeah it’s a huge project. Was a paddock previously. Two grounds, possibly two more down the track, bowling greens, soccer pitches, netball and tennis courts, multiple buildings etc.

wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a few venues similar to Casey Fields our that way in a few years time with their population growth.
Only one I can think of near us is Kilsyth with the basketball stadium next to the ground, and a few grounds with tennis courts next to them

EFNL, if only we could turn back the clock and councils had of kept vacant land next to grounds then.Casey Fields and Lang Lang are 2 good examples of planning wisely looking to the future. At Mitcham,Vermont is the same 1 ground for so many senior and junior teams has not worked out now and both clubs have junior grounds a few k,s away from the senior/junior head quarters. If Whitehorse council continues to overdevelop our area which means more people and more people wanting to play a sport we do not have the vacant land to build new ovals etc.

There are also badminton and table tennis venues as well. There is a $12M upgrade being planned for there.
I wouldn't overlook East Burwood either, with 2 footy grounds, Basketball Stadium, Athletics track, Velodrome and the tennis courts.
GMac will be on here soon about the footy ground, Gymnastics Stadium, tennis courts and the pigeon club at Mitcham, but I'm not having it until he comes through with his promise to get Netball Courts installed.
