One of those blokes who has been close a few times but yet to win a premiership. Still a absolute freak who made team of the year again this year for the 10th time I believe.

Interesting to see some Boronia's off seasion signings looks like they're trying to buy a flag like South Belgrave did. Some great recruits. Think D2 will be very interesting next season.
Certainly not trying to 'buy' a premiership as you have attested to. The club has spent minimal funds on recruits in recent years with a strong focus on local players. This was the case when they won the Seniors, Reserves and Under's flags on the same day a few years ago. Each of the individuals are good players and have a 'link' to the club in some form. In order to get back to the top they have 'targeted' certain players. You would be surprised how much this is costing the club and its certainly not even close to the activities of some other clubs who have spent big money in order to be successful.

The most important thing for the club is the return of the under's team in 2023. This will happen and its very important for future success to have a pathway for younger players to progress and become regular senior footballers. Not having this team in 2022 affected the club negatively in many ways.

Wow, from what I saw on the news tonight it looks like the Lilydale football ground got washed away. 59mm in 30 min.
Washing away the Lilydale Oval wouldn't be a bad thing although its condition now is certainly far improved to my days playing on it when it was a mud pit, smelt and had green stagnant water regularly lying on top! We just got out there and got into it - how times have changed! Today's players have it so good even at local level.

You are sure right about that. Nowadays on a really wet day if you go out at 1/4 and 3/4 time, there is no mud on players, all you see are grass clippings on their boots. When I think back, Scoresby (the absolute worst ground I ever played on by a country mile), Boronia, the old Bayswater ground (and the new one in its early days) and a couple of times the old East Burwood ground, the improvements are remarkable.

Yeah found it a bit strange that The Basin right next door to Boronia was able to field 2 U19s teams but Boronia couldn’t field a team. Maybe The Basin just has a really well run junior club.

Some years ago a junior coach at Boronia changed clubs, taking half a dozen players with him. The remaining team then struggled for numbers and eventually couldn't field a team. That team should have been the core of our 2022 Under 19's. We hope to bounce back with the under 19's very soon as the junior program is in good hands and is now seeing good numbers across all age groups.

I'm going to hazard a guess, but I don't think local cricket will be played this week. This year must one of the poorest on record for cricket in October.

Will be very interesting to see what the RDCA senior committee does. Juniors have played three weeks of Saturday morning cricket and turned up for a fourth. Most seniors haven't even got to a ground to assess conditions. A lot of criticism levied at the RDCA on social media for going the early crow and cancelling games when Saturday arvo has been beautiful sunny spring days. Can't imagine the blowback if they pull the pin again only for Saturday arvo to once again be a clear day.

You'd think turf comps will struggle to play.

50% chance of rain for Saturday, I would be surprised if RDCA cancelled again.

I think they will roll the dice and let umpires and captains make the call.

The BHRDCA has had a mixture of both. To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if it is cancelled. Too much rain yesterday and looking at the radar, plenty more on the way for today and showers predicted for Saturday. Turf is cancelled already. Not surprising as there would have been very little pitch preparation possible this week.

The majority of grounds have been unplayable even in the fine conditions.

This weekend is off, even grounds that have been playable last 4 weeks are unplayable now.
