Belief is strong in this group. Will take us a long way. We need to polish things up in time for finals but resilience and belief are everything.

I thought we were good as gone when they retook the lead in Q4.

Unbelievable!

No way”, indeed…

Hi Guys,

Oddly, my cockatiel goes for port Adelaide.. I put on the last qtr of the game and plonked his cage infront of the TV. He went bizerk bobbing his head and singing when Houston kicked that goal.

Don’t ask me why his a port fan, but for whatever reason he sings a lot and gets excited when port Adelaide plays.

I am here to post this on his behalf since he doesn’t have an account.

And Burton.

And wines. And narkle.

Too much left to a few tonight.

Butters, Houston, rozee, drew, Williams, aliir all very good.

A lot of players below par but those guys carried us.

Wonder if it's harder for the old blokes to get back into it after the week off? Lycett couldn't even get up, Dixon is hobbling (but that's always), Boak invisible, wines struggled bigtime.

Dan Houston Father my children.

I was listening to it in my way to the airport. I was driving. The goal happened already in the airport’s parking.

Just told my mom and my brother: “wait! Port may win with the last kick.”

5aa with Ginever and Tredrea. No one believed it. “It’s going for review.”

I switched to the video and saw us celebrating.

Relief! 😂

I was listening to it, and we were ten points ahead in Q4, but the conversation in the car took over.

I just overheard that Essendon was back in front. I couldn’t believe it.

I had accepted defeat while parking. Then the 5aa went crazy with Houston’s mark. The rest is history.

That’s the worst game I have seen Boak play. He looked 45.

Bonner is honestly just terrible. Soft as butter. Doesn’t go when it’s his turn.

Rozee, Williams, Allir, Farrell, houston great.

I thought Butters was just ok. pretty down on his usual form.

Hard to judge on a game like that but Dante V honestly nowhere near it. Jeez.

Houston what a ****ing kick though. I was confident as soon as he marked it. Amazing.

Rozee just said Dante was going to play but lycett put his hand up and said he would be right to go, Dante packed up and went up to the box.

Then it obviously changed after the warm up..

So they knew lycett was very shaky to play coming into the game.

In hindsight it was clearly considered a very likely scenario. Hinkley as always just couldn't help himself and made multiple references in his presser to there being uncertainty over the team lineup. Visentini into the emergencies and then actually travelling as an emergency was in hindsight ominous. They probably wanted to give Lycett every chance but knew it was going to be hard.

I like how Dante's mum said he was going to debut against Gold Coast.

His parents were fine television.

Bonner’s lack of intensity should not surprise anyone but it still somehow does. Long white sleeves befitted his style of game tonight.

I actually didn't think he was our worst tonight but gee it's going to be bloody refreshing to have Duursma back with his hard running and full bodied commitment to the contest.

Butters was damn good when the whips were cracking tonight. Yeh it wasn’t quite working for him the whole game but his dare and will to win were crucial.
Agree. He had an important last quarter when others around him just couldn’t lift.

We’re leaving a huge amount to Butters and Rozee in the midfield.

Boak and Wines haven’t been anywhere near their best nor consistent enough all year.

Drew is playing his role but we still need third and fourth mids to get going.

JHF is still very much a bits and pieces midfielder. You’d expect this in his second year in the AFL and first year with us. At this stage, he either creates the miraculous clearance by fending off opponents or more often gets caught. With Bonner, and previously Sinn on the wings, we’ve got little ball winning support.

For us to challenge Collingwood when the whips are cracking, Butters and Rozee need serious help. Wines, Boak, Duursma are the keys. JHF could be a bonus but he may not have a big September in him just yet. He will of course in the future.
