2 out of 4, not the best start, plus 1 down on Sportstalk07 already..... Here are my tips for this week:

Fingal Valley vs Evandale Fingal by a big margin, 120 points. Good couple of percentage boosting games for the start of the year for Fingal!

Old Launcestonians vs Perth Perth surprised me last week, thought they would be undermanned but proved me wrong, will tip them to win by 50+.

Old Scotch vs Tamar Cats Cats to beat an undermanned Scotch by 20 points.

University-Mowbray vs St Pats Uni must have played well last week and would be firm favourites this week. I expect them to win by around 20 points also.

I'm virtually in agreeance with you there Voice of Sport and..
Fingal v Evandale: Fingal by 110, Evandale will be slightly better than OL's were (note the word slightly)
OL's v Perth: Perth by 130, Even if OL's put up a fight Perth will roll through.
Old Scotch v Tamar Cats: Cats by 25, The Bronc and The big Q will be the difference.
Uni-Mowbray v St Pats: Uni by 8, Jerome Illingworth returns and will give St Pats some oomph in the forward line but Uni did play well last round. A loss for St Pats makes life difficult at 0-2.

Div 1 Round 3: Bracknell v Deloraine, Rocherlea v Sharks, George Town v Bridgenorth, Longford v Scottsdale.
Game of the day is certainly at Longford, where two old rivals square off. Scottsdale are 2-0 after 2 and while Longford did lose last start they are certainly more than a handful at home.
The midfield/ruck duels will be crucial to deciding this and if Scottsdale start well, it will be a long day for the Tiger side.
Bracknell host Deloraine and the Roos will be desperate for a win. There were positive signs amongst the loss against Scottsdale and they'll travel to Bracknell with some confidence, especially as they have a good record there.
Bracknell are coming off a last start win against the Sharks and will start favourites though.
In the two other games, George Town host Bridgenorth at Blue Gum Park and the "Sharks" visit Rocherlea. Both home sides are favoured to win.
Tips: Bracknell by 23, Rocherlea by 140, George Town by 35, Scottsdale by 6

Div 2 Round 3: Fingal v Tamar Cats, Perth v Evandale, St Pats v Old Scotch, OL's v Uni-Mowbray
At the Valley will be the two combatents from the Grand Final of 08. And this will certainly be Fingal's first big test of 2009 against a Cats side that were lucky not to be beaten by more than 2 goals against Old Scotch. Last season the Cats left Fingal with a very big win but if the Cats play like they did against Old Scotch, they won't be close.
St Pats, who started 0-2 face a must win game against Old Scotch. A loss there will make life testing at 0-3.
Perth should account for Evandale and Uni-Mowbray will be 3-0 after their game against OL's at Invermay Park.
Tips: Fingal by 46, Perth by 90, Old Scotch by 22, Uni-Mowbray by 180.

I am going to go with a couple of upsets for a bit of fun. I think Tamar will travel down to Fingal and upset them by about 20 points and I think St Pats can turn it around up at their home ground where they have a good history over Scotch up there, I think they will just get up, 9 points. Perth and Uni to have easy wins.

NTFA Div 1: Deloraine v Rocherlea, Scottsdale v Bracknell, Sharks v George Town, Bridgenorth v Longford

NTFA Div 2: Tamar Cats v Perth, OL's v St Pats, Uni-Mowbray v Evandale, Old Scotch v Fingal.

The Division One game of the day is certainly at Bridgenorth and it throws up an interesting game between Bridgenorth and Longford.
Bridgenorth despite sitting at 1-2 for the season got themselves into positive form narrowly losing to George Town at Blue Gum Park, which is no disgrace.
Longford had to rely on a 15 minute surge in the final quarter to overwhelm Scottsdale and if they do that against the Parrots things could get tough.

Scottsdale host Bracknell in what is a must win for the Magpies, especially after their loss last game. Certainly a three and a half quarter effort would not have pleased coach Anthony Taylor and he will be looking for four quarters to overrun Bracknell, who were excellent against Deloraine for the first half but faded in the second. Scottsdale do play their home ground reasonably well but I think they are ripe for picking here and Bracknell might be able to do it this week.

In the Other two matches, Deloraine could well be in for a torrid time against Rocherlea especially if power forward David Wickham gets into the groove. And the Sharks will also find the going very tough against the reigning premier and ladder leader George Town at Shark Park.

In Division 2, Fingal after three home games have to make the trek to the NTCA ground to play Old Scotch. Fingal got the job done well against the Cats last week in what was shaped as their first test of the season. Old Scotch lacked firepower for three quarters against St Pats but managed to outlast the Saints to win by 3 goals.
Home ground advantage swings me into Old Scotch's favour, but not by much. If Fingal can win this one it puts them in very good stead for the season.

Another game of interest is Tamar Cats hosting Perth and the Cats will have to bounce back quickly as they have lost the last 2 games. There wasn't a lot of signs to say that they are going to do much damage last week against Fingal and against Perth who are firing at 3-0 they could well be in bother here as Perth had to withstand a gritty Evandale before winning by 10 goals.
Perth to win.

The other 2 games should see Uni-Mowbray defeat Evandale at the Campus and St Pats get their first win of the season against OL's at Invermay.

Tips Div 1: Rocherlea by 47, Bracknell by 3, George Town by 190, Longford by 9
Tips Div 2: Perth by 33, St Pats by 75, Uni-Mowbray by 29, Fingal by 2

NTFA Division One and Two Squad

THE NTFA DIVISION 1 SQUAD IS: BRACKNELL: Josh Nunn, Robert Gilligan, Chris Walker; BRIDGENORTH: Chris Savage, Kurt McCabe, Josh Murfett, Luke Duncan, Daniel Sellars; DELORAINE: James Baldock, Luke Bloomfield, Troy Murphy, Michael Peters, Brad Crowden; LONGFORD: Zeke Gossage, Ben Chugg, Ricky Tarrant, Clinton Black, Cameron Gard; GEORGE TOWN: Shaun Muller, Zak Noble, Daniel Newton, Kyel King, Mark Jones, Chris Hughes, Tom Allison; ROCHERLEA: David Wickham, Rory Mansell, Shannon Mansell, Andrew Wilmot, Jamie Ryan, Damien Pearce, Jordan Cousens; SCOTTSDALE: Shaun Moore, Michael Rainbow, Robert Bessenvalle, Daniel Roozendaal, Josef Boyce, Troy Milne, Geoff Mohr; SHARKS: Josh Moore, Leigh Brumby, Chris Savage, Brendan Flynn.

THE NTFA DIVISION 2 SQUAD IS: EVANDALE: Nick Hammerstein, Sam Bannister; FINGAL: Ted Davis, Corey Bosworth, Todd Spilsbury, Matthew Lowe, Heath Lowe; OL's: Nathan Leeming, Andrew Brown, Daniel Breadmore; PERTH: Gavin Love, Nathan Bosworth, Shannon Buller, Scott Furley; ST PAT'S: Tim Faul, Doug Headland; OLD SCOTCH: Adrian Smith, Alex McKenzie, Henry Mainwaring, Will Tatchell, Nick D'Emden, George Crisp; TAMAR CATS: Grant Woodgate, Mark Brown, Jason Savage, Luke McLean; UNI-MOWBRAY: Rohan Willis, Gavin Hamilton, Tim Talbot, Dane Colbeck, Nathan Mills, Hector Lenton.

Round 5
George Town v Deloraine, Bridgenorth v Sharks, Rocherlea v Scottsdale, Longford v Bracknell

If there was a bigger game of the season for Longford, then this game against their Prelim Final opponent from 2008 is about as big as it gets. A loss for the Tigers and they will be in unfamiliar territory outside the five by a game and perhaps a fair chuck of percentage. Bracknell were far from impressive last week against Scottsdale but they tend to lift for these games against Longford and certainly they'll be ready for them. I think Longford will hang on to 5th but might drop on percentage to 6th as Bridgenorth should easliy beat the Sharks.

The other game is Rocherlea v Scottsdale and the big question is how will Rocherlea bounce back from their second half fadeout against the Roos. Having 23 scoring shots to 8 up to half time and only a 40 point lead would concern Brett Mansell, however at home they are generally a much better side, some say about a 5 goal better side.
Scottsdale got onto the winners list against Bracknell, but will need to be on their mettle to ensure that Rocherlea suffer a loss here.

The other games and Bridgenorth will beat the Sharks while George Town should be 5 from 5 after they defeat Deloraine at home.

Tips: George Town by 75, Bridgenorth by 130, Rocherlea by 35, Longford by 3

Round 5
Fingal v Perth, Old Scotch v OLFC, Uni-Mowbray v Tamar Cats, St Pats v Evandale (Night Game 6:30 Seniors, 4:30 Reserves)

Match of the day here looms at the Valley and it's not often Fingal are the lower placed side when playing a game but they have to face a Perth side that are full of confidence after their thrilling win against the Cats. For Fingal and Kade Chapple's side they'll be wanting to redeem themselves here and there isn't a much tougher place to play then at the Valley. Fingal likely to win here but if Perth can upset the apple cart again then we'll ask some questions about Fingal's chances for the flag.

The other main game is at the Campus between the top placed Uni-Mowbray and the struggling Tamar Cats who like Longford will be in 6th place if they fail here. For Uni this is their first test for 2009 and none better then a Cats side that is filled with good players, but how will they hold their discipline? If it's a repeat from Old Scotch then you can slice their chances to zero. Uni are up and about and while this will be tight they should be too quick for the Tamar boys.

Night Footy is at The Beach with the traditional St Pats/Evandale clash. The Saints got back into form with a crushing win over OL's and that'll continue against Evandale here. Especially if Troy Powe is found guilty by the tribunal on Friday for misconduct.
Old Scotch after their crushing win over Fingal could massacre OL's here at the NTCA. Hope not but it appears likely.

Tips: Fingal by 5, Old Scotch by 210, Uni-Mowbray by 15, St Pats by 70

They may be able to get over Evendale in the 1's if it's their day. But the 2's might as well not show up. I think the fact that they have a percentage of 6.25 after 5 rounds (1008 againt, 63 for) shows that they won't even come close. Shows a lot of heart that they can still give it their all every week when they know the scoreboard is gonna be over 200 difference...

Could be 300 against Fingal next Saturday???

Could be 300 against Fingal next Saturday???

I don't know about next weekend at Invermay Park, should keep Fingal to a 200 point victory... round 15 when they travel back to Fingal is a different story on the other hand though, 300 is definately realistic!

and which one exactly would that be? there's a few who can play down there, just not many of them...

cant confirm it just someone said breadmore has left and he would be the best when i watched them play

ols football club have picked up more players during the week.
Wont be the easy beats as some people are saying.
So far they have picked up Daniel Breadmore. Vic Marshell Sam lincon
Ricky Smart Nathen leeming has come back to the club from UNi. Have sighed 2 Old Scocth players. Randell and Jason Dawkins. currently have 3 players training and about to sigh with them from Both hillwood and ringarooma and Mathew Adams returning to the club. We will wait n see if they get beat by 200 points again

We have waited, and we have seen...

i dare say your sources are deadly accurate, apparently victor himself is not even sure of his own future at the club... dont know the bloke but he appears to be a very proud person and i find it hard to believe... anyone else heard stories along those lines?

i had heard that but then i was told he said (at training) he was committed to the club and also for next year and wants to see it start winning

When club football resumes, NTFA Division One will see the main action at Longford when both Rocherlea and Longford clash in the first "indigenous match" to conclude indigenous week. Second v fifth on the table should be a mouthwatering game, especially if Rocherlea's power forward David Wickham can get into the action. Longford are struggling for some form despite their win against Bracknell and at Rocherlea where the home side are strongest, they should win with ease. The other game of interest is the Sharks and Deloraine playing at Prospect Park for the first Seniors match. From reports the ground is a small one and whoever makes the contest out of the middle and gets it to their forwards stands a better chance of victory. Deloraine despite being flogged by George town will win against the Sharks here. The other two matches should see George Town and Scottsdale defeat their opponents.

Division 2 and the two games that look like standouts are Old Scotch and Uni-Mowbray and St Pats v Perth. At the NTCA Scotch will be keen to redeem themselves against Uni-Mowbray for their only loss of the season to date and they do have a good chance without Eagles midfield dynamo Hector Lenton who is away overseas for 4 weeks. A big blow especially with the Eagles next 4 games against Perth, Fingal and St Pats. Old Scotch at home are at their best now and with that in mind I'm saying the Scotchies to win. St Pats host Perth in an important game for both sides, with the loser out of the 5. St Pats after being given a big scare by Evandale will not want a repeat of that and even after Perth were belted by Fingal I say the Saints will be winners at home. the other matches should see Fingal and Tamar Cats record big wins

And in NTFL round 7, game of the day is at Girdlestone Park between the Swans and Latrobe. Easts have stalled slightly but still are about in the top half while Latrobe have disappointed some pundits with their form this season. Although their losses have been close the Demons are in 4th spot and would not want to lose here. At home the Swans for me especially with a couple of key players returning. Smithton and Ulverstone to record wins in the other 2 games.

NTFA Div 1 tips: Deloraine by 55, Scottsdale by 37, George Town by 13, Rocherlea by 26

NTFA Div 2 Tips: Tamar Cats by 60, Fingal by 250, Old Scotch by 3, St Pats by 33

NTFL Tips: Smithton by 60, Easts by 16, Ulverstone by 45

NTFA Division One Round 7
Fixture: Deloraine v Bridgenorth, Longford v Sharks, Bracknell v Rocherlea, Scottsdale v George Town (5pm)

The main game here is between two sides in the top 3, being Scottsdale and George Town under lights at 5pm. This promises to be a top contest especially if both sides carry over their form from last week. George Town with the Tuthill and Muller combination up forward against a Scottsdale side needing to keep touch with the top 3. For me I'll say George Town, simply because they are too in form to drop this one, although they won't win easliy. Other games should result in Bridgenorth, Longford and Rocherlea recording the points over their opponents.

Tips: Bridgenorth by 26, Longford by 100, Rocherlea by 37, George Town by 11

NTFA Division Two Round 7
Fixture: Fingal v St Pats, Tamar Cats v OL's, Perth v Uni-Mowbray, Evandale v Old Scotch (at Rocherlea)

No real standouts in this round other than perhaps Perth and Uni-Mowbray at Perth. Perth would start favourites especially with Uni-Mowbray being undermanned and underperforming last week like they did against the Scotchies. Other winners should be Fingal, Tamar Cats and Old Scotch

Tips: Fingal by 110, Tamar Cats by 200, Perth by 60, Old Scotch by 140.

Why are Evandale playing Old Scotch at Rocherlea? Is there soccer on at NTCA?

Delayed construction on their new clubrooms, they've been playing away for most of the season so far, guess things are a bit slower than expected
