Yeah big cigar I think he has been wonderful player for churchill, especially in pressure games but obviously he was injured as he could hardly move. Can do some freakish things and I would think his goals tally against higher placed sides would be remarkably better than weaker sides, which in itself says alot about the player himself.

I think in minor league football non playing coaches are nearly done obviously there are exceptions, for instance when the club believes it does not need a high profile player to win a flag. But in order to attract high profile players generally you need to offer them a senior coaching role.

Disappointed that it shows the league that the player is going to, rather than the club, ie shows Mid Gippsland Football League, rather than Boolarra FC or Yarragon FC.

Interesting clearnces to date.

Jake Milham to Sale City
A handful to Gormandale, Cowwarr and Boisdale
Mayoorgra and Graham to Traralgon (presume) both good young players.
Downdes cleared to Gormandale
Davidson boys to Stratford
Ryan Wissmer (denied) and David Tripp to Rosedale
Mark Engley to Glengarry
Kaine Bulmer back to Lindenow

Sale City are playing Sale in a Friday night practice match pretty keen to see how new recriut big Matthew Lutze goes for City, as Sale probably won't have an established ruckmen (yet) playing.

Always love these games even if they are a blow out as they attract plenty of attention and the night atmosphere is good, probably the first game played between the two sides in five years and in my opinion both clubs should endeavour for it to become a common occurence.

Josh Tollner and Justin Mclay to City. Two quality midfielders.

Andrew Flanagan to Rosedale. Full Forward from Wy Yung.

Season is looking close again between the top five, six or seven.

Gee that game will be worth a look.
What Friday night are they playing and at which ground?

Just trying to get some information on Mitchell Hendeson who i think player for Rosedale a year or 2 ago? i know it might of only been under/18's but any info would be great. Height, position, skill? Just moved to our area in south west vic

hey just wanting to no a few things. i moved to gippsland late last footy season and watched a few of Heyfields games in the north gippsland footy league. Think they are a quality side, heard some rumours about the club in the off season and just wondering if anyone had any info?
1. Is Corey Mckernan going to play again this year?
2. Is Stuart anderson coaching again?
3.And heard that ex-heyfield player david ivey is coming back to the club
4.And young kodie woodland out of the thirds, is going to replace brett 'sarbo' (forgive my spelling) position at full-forward.
5.And finally heard a couple of young blokes going into u/16s have been training really well and might get a run in the 2nds or even seniors throughout the season?

Dave Ivey is coaching Nilma Darnum in the EDFL.

Brett Szabo is one of my top 10 players ever played with. I would think that Master Woodland might need a few seasons under his belt (like, maybe 15) in senior footy to be able to come lose to being able to replace Brett. Even then.....

Pumpter, Lee Stockdale?? Who is he??

Alot of players leaving Stratford which is not good, I notice on the clearance website they have rejected a few to. The rules have changed from previous year's and now read that a player can only be rejected if it owes the club any money or is in contract.

Looking forward to a cracker year really hard to pick the top five, especially if Churchill don't lose as many as expected. I think only three to four teams that we can definately rule out as not making it, the rest will be a toss up.

Leigh Stockdale is a midfielder from Traralgon. Played mostly 2's last year, but pretty sure he's played some Seniors as well. Been around the Gormy FC since he was in nappies, where his old man played a couple of hundred games, including a couple of Grand Finals. Will be very handy for Gormy. Brother of Micheal, who plays in the 1's for Casey Scorpions.

Leigh is also a gun cricketer, who plays 1's for Fitzroy-Doncaster.

Churchills's 3rds are back in action this year, a fair majority of the kids are still eligible to play 16s but are going up anyway. Stack of talent among the boys and expect them to win the odd game or two this year and have a big crack at finals next year.

Chris Williams, Alex Tatterson, Jack Wyhoon and Ben Kearns the boys to keep an eye on.

Scott Kelly (Lucknow), Lee Kelly(Lucknow), Ryan Sutherland(Morwell East), Jason Sutherland(Retired), Greig Williams(Retired), Daniel Hawking(Traralgon) all from last years GF side all going, several others will join them in moving on or having a break that may or may not include coming back later in the season.

Leigh McDonald possibly staying but not 100% confirmed at this point.

Does anybody no whats happening at Stratty? Have they got the numbers?

Actually that's what i was hoping on getting some info on!

Just moved back out here, was looking on joining up with the club, was worried it might be too late with all the preseason already done? Also, do they have a 2nds or 3rds team? Been a few years since I last played (leg injuries), was hoping on easing my way back in. When do they train? Wandered down to the oval but didn't see anything letting me know there.

Nathan Mcdonald??

Looking forward to the start of the NGFNL, the final five will be hard to pick and will come out of any of Rosedale, Heyfield, Churchill, Gormandale, Glengarry and Sale City.

Both Boisdale-Briagolong, Woodside and Cowwar will push and beat sides but not too sure if they will have the continual depth to beat the top sides.

Unfortunately it looks likely that TTU and Stratford may be at the bottom of the ladder, but in there defence both have lost there best players over the last few years, I know that both clubs have put a heavy emphasis on rebuilding from the juniors up. It would be great if we could see these changes come to provision in the next couple of years.

So here goes the predictions on the eve.

Top Five (home and away)

Rosedale
Heyfield
Gormandale
Sale City
Churchill
---------
Glengarry
Woodside
Boisdale-Briagolong
Cowwar
TTU
Stratford

Premier - Heyfield

League best and fairest - Justin Emery/Leigh Mcdonald

Young player of year - Shaun Humphreys

Leading goalkicker - Andrew Flanagan/Josh King

Can't wait!!!!

The sad thing about most bush footy leagues, including NGFL, is the lack of surprises. I'd be shocked if the final 5 wasn't (in no particular order) Churchill, Heyfield, Gormy, Glen, Rosey. Boisdale and Woodside will almost certainly drop out. Can't see any other sides making it. Cowwarr may improve, but not as much as Glen or Rosey has. TTU and Stratty can already plan their end of season trip for September.

Why so high on Rosedale, Nugget?

Went to watch the GF rematch today, somewhere along the line Heyfield and Churchill lost 20 players! Must admit it was a bit funny with both camps trying to work out who was or wasnt playing before the game, Cougars won but will take only the 4 points from the game and nothing else.

Great to see the Cougar cubs back on the ground this year and having a win first up. Did anyone manage to catch the mad talents of Alex Tatterson for Churchill? Impressive to say the least.

On the other results, big losses to Stratty and Boisdale probably doesnt bode well for them this year, hopefully each team has a few to come back in.

Good to have the country footy back!

I was just looking at there clearance list and have picked up some quality players to fill the voids that are needed. I don't think they were that far off last year, but after yesterdays results I may have misread glengarry!!!

Yeah Churchill v Heyfield would have been funny not knowing some players, the heyfield boys will be better for the run and i think the last six years they have lost there five of the six first games. Plenty will come back for the second round, and as like last year I don't think we can draw too many conclusions from the first round.

Pumpter why is Zac Callow playing two's???
