PORKCHOPWAYNE
Debutant
Interesting stuff about Sale City....96/97 is that same season Richard averaged a very healthy 47.23 batting at number 3 for the mighty Longford?

AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Huge game for the roos this week.
Will definitely determine if they are flag favourites or not.
Agree ?
if the roos cant get up with an (afl) makeshift team, there will be a lot of questions asked.
corey will kick 14 taking andrew lambie's spot on the full back line!
The only possible change I could see would be Glengarry replacing Gormandale
Could not see Glengarry winning 3 more games than Gormandale for the rest of the year. That is what they need to do to make it. No matter how well they play from now 3 extra wins is alot.
My side was given a lesson on how to play footy and on how to rebuild a club. I think it comes down to one thing when you are down for a long period of time and that is money to quality players. Woodside have spent some bucks but they all deliver. The swans players were taught on preperation, game time and after game activities. It is a pleasure playing against Woodside as they are a truly country football club with PLENTY of support.
I would imagine there are players at, Woodside, Heyfield, Boisdale and other clubs who want to play for the club because the setup is good, you can't buy that!
As the coach arn't you responsible for preperation, gametime and to an extent after game activities? Maybe people don't want to be part of it?Take some responsibility mate because you were also taught a lesson.
Open your eyes and ears.
Very interesting to see Peter Miles and Shane Piper have put clearances in to boisdale from sale city. Must be to do with the fight. Have to say i like the way City have handled the punishments and if people want to fight there is no place for them in any football club, finally city are showing some resolve and trying to build a better culture which at times could have been regarded as selfish.
If adults dont own up to there actions and choose to run, then they run the risk of not learning from there mistakes....Good luck at boisdale
What option did he have other than putting in a clearance? He has been banned from playing for the club for 5 years. He is not running, he is choosing to continue to play football. If Sale City don't let him play, would you think he should sit out of the game for 5 years and then return to Sale City in 5 years time?

Long time browser, first time poster and jumping in to add a little bit of Churchill to the board. Hopefully our mid season slump is behind us now and the last 3 quarters against the combine indicated this, Most people dont give us enough credit this year for how we are going (fair enough with a couple of below par performances) but the side on the weekend had 9 different players from grand final day last year and is taking time to come together. With several big names still just getting back on the training track (D.Jenkins,G.Williams,S.Kelly and Chris Burke)we are still a good chance to go back to back, as long as Power make finals and Dowse is tied up and cant do a Cox! Best teams we have played this year are in order Heyfield, Woodside, Sale City (Dont know what's happened there) Stratford have a stack of upside if they can keep their youngsters and top up with some guns but that's the tough bit aint it? Anyway I enjoy the banter and hope I can add a bit to it.
If anyone would like to elaborate on this john or luke...how many of the current stratford players will be around in 2 years time??? If you leave hendo, will they not play??? I know you need the youngsters yes (which is what your pushing to become the next generation), but mature players are critical in anyones premiership aspirations...and if stratford cant retain these players will it be hard to maintain or become a success.
Thoughts???
you would hope they are all still there. It is the club responsibility to ensure they all stay. All are young and all have come with the intention of staying.
If i get stood down will they follow me?
My theory on that is simple..... If they all leave because i am not coaching then the club should keep me as it proves the playing group respects what i am doing and where we are going. If those players don't want me then i should be replaced with a gun playing coach.
I do want to coach this club and make them better but if the players don't want to continue to play for me then i should go. That goes for any club and any coach. The worst thing in football is a coaching trying to convince the club he is the right person. I love coaching Stratty but if they don't want me i will go. Simple.
The following list are the players we have recruited and there age showing that they all came with a long term intention
Noel Jansz - 23
Nick Farley - 24
Chris Camm - 28
Brad Rogers - 28
Brett Hudson - 23
Jon Taylor - 25
Anthony Goodes - 27
Ben Hurley - 23
Chris Hudson - 25
Luke Klasen - 19
Dylan Bolton - 20
I would hope 80% of that list is still playing in 2 years time regardless of who is coaching and hopefully are playing with 2 HIGH quality players. Throw that in with the kids coming through and the already there players like Light and Nicholls and i do believe there is hope. Again the club needs and relizes we need to pay to get two high quality players.
Hope that answers the question Nuggett.
By the way Nugget if i bowl medium pace you shouldn't have kept up to the stumps in your GCL game. You might have been able to grasp a couple. hahaha
Sale City have speed granted but it is more the ability of their bigger onballers to be able to go forward and kick goals, Schuey and Downes, who have pace and are good in the air were a tough match up on the day. Look for Churchill to a bit more negating on the likes of Neille, Conway and Dowse next time we play Heyfield, stop their mifileders scoring and I think it can drastically lower their scoring power. Someone will know but I cant recall Churchill getting torched by big forwards to often recently, mostly smaller or medium forwads. Jenkins 3 weeks away, Williams ready to go (will be a great foil for big Browny, who has gone great guns in his first year at the club and is behind only Ronaldson and Stevens as the best big bloke in the comp) Kelly 3-4 weeks and probably more hopefull than anything on Burke. Look for the coach to spend a lot more time forward in the last 2 months of the season, as with the guys mentioned at the top almost impossible to match up on, just ask Boisdale!
kodie woodland has had his statistics done regularly this season quite often reaching 50 disposals around the midfield and halfback line, wen the 3rds play a team they can actually kick goals against he plays more of a role up 4ward and has shown he can kick plenty of goals (kicked 8 against woodside round 2). daniel dowd has size and ability but needs 2 work more on his goal kicking as he missed easy oppotunities last week.
with the the 3rds game of heyfield vs stratty being a forced bye this weekend we may see woodland hav a run in the ressies which may bring some attention 2 him from stu the roo. as 4 dowd, he doesnt train, just shows up and strutts his stuff on game day so i dont think we will b seeing him in action this week.
