The Richmond supporter my old workplace who spoke about how much he loved the club and what a huge fan he was, and then in next breath asked "did we win on the weekend"
This but with Collingwood fans. I have most of my workplace footy banter with Essendon and Carlton fans. They at least know what's happening.

The Collingwood fans I deal with are talking about that 4 in a row, Dane Swan, and the 2010 premiership years later.

The Essendon drugs saga was a glorious time to be a total campaigner to anyone from that fanbase.

Many Essendon fans I knew at work had gone full 'Stand by Hird' cult mode and were babbling about all the crazy conspiracy theories that the great man himself was largely responsible for circulating, so I heard many nutty things as I attempted to push them completely over the edge.

Sounds like you're the nuffy coworker. Daicos has Macedonian descent.
Yes of course, the Macedonian Marvel.

My oversight there.

Might also need to stop using the word 'nuffy.' in Australian vernacular it generally refers to the intellectually disables. not sure how it's become interchangeable for idiot/obsessive.

I'm mates with a lot of Carlton and Essendon supporters so my Hawk mates are like Stephen Hawking in comparison.

Intelligence wise. Not cripples who cant speak wise
The things with Hawks supporters at that time did not go to matches, just read match reports (instead of just looking at the pictures) in the newspapers.

Nah, you're alright, I'll keep using it thanks. It's pretty clear which in context I was using the word, given we're on a football forum.

If you want some advice yourself - I wouldn't continue to use the term 'intellectually disables'.

Arguments with Carton, Collingwood and Essendon supporters were great fun! Passionate and heated. Fun Fun Fun!

Fitzroy, Footscray, North Melbourne and South Melbourne were non existant in my school (think there was only one of each).

Geelong there were but can’t remember them. Mostly harmless.

Melbourne didn’t go to games, did not discuss because they were proud that they were the oldest team in the universe.

St.kilda fans would just thump you.

But Hawks were worst, they talked like lawyers!

Used to work with a guy who was a Port Adelaide supporter (or claimed to be)

He used to get into me about 'Port his, Port that' etc etc.. I didn't mind that as supporter banter but this guy had absolutely NFI about 1) Port Adelaide FC and 2) AFL football in general.

What made me realise that he knew absolutely nothing about football was in 2016 when he was telling me all the things Port did in their first couple of years that Adelaide supposedly didn't do (he had just joined the company I worked for)

Such as 'Port were the first interstate team to beat the West Coast Eagles'. By 'interstate' he meant Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney.

I questioned him and said that did he realise that the WCE came into the comp in 1987? Are you sure that Port were the first interstate team to beat WCE? Are you telling me that none of Brisbane, Sydney nor Adelaide beat them in that 10 years prior to Port coming into the comp in 1997?

I knew he was wrong but he wouldn't accept anything else. I bought up the fact that Adelaide beat WCE in round 2 of 1993 and had it on my computer screen (AFL tables). Again - no dice. Would not look at my computer and would not resile from saying that Port were still the first interstate side to beat WCE.

As an aside, to get what a knob this guy was, at the time we used to fly interstate every month as part of our roles - a lot of these times we were on the same flight. I was a Gold QFF back then and used to go into the Qantas club before the flights. He got wind of this and new that I could take in a guest. From then on, when we had a flight coming up, he would come up to me and say 'get me into the Qantas club will you'. Didn't ask nicely, just 'get me into the Qantas club'

I never did.....and he never asked why I wouldn't. Guess he may have got the message by then....

I left the company in 2018 and I've never wanted to punch a work colleague in the head as much as that guy.

Seems appropriate to bring it up, but I am admitted (though I've never practised)...

Do you go to games?

And yes, avidly. Being an MCC toff as well as a Hawks member helps (and I am self-aware enough to know I am only perpetuating your image of us now) 😆
