With so many decent backs to choose from Bartlett had to squeeze a Richmond dud in.

If Hall gets the CHF then the blokes that played on him can get a gig at CHB....that opens up some decent backs instead of statistical sponges needing 2 mates to break even.

Onya KB :thumbsu: luv the jobs for the boys.

Do you realize how the All Australian Team is selected?

Do you recall that KB gave his top votes to a Collingwood player in the NAB Rising Star Award this Year?

Do you know that KB has ostracized himself from the Richmond Football Club for the last 12 or so years?

Do you look at the other posts in this thread and actually read the fact that Joel Bowden has played CHB all year, on all the competitions CHFs?

Do you think by carrying on about Bowden it defelcts the bizarre selections of O'Keefe and Bolton?

Do you have nothing better to do than act like a idiot?

Do you know that KB has ostracized himself from the Richmond Football Club for the last 12 or so years? Y...EVERYONE DOES NIMROD...DID YOU JUST HEAR ABOUT IT ?
Do you look at the other posts in this thread and actually read the fact that Joel Bowden has played CHB all year, on all the competitions CHFs? Y...DID YOU NEED TO READ THEM TO DISCOVER AN OPINION ? SEEMS YOU NEED TO TELL PEOPLE WHERE HE PLAYED...WHY ?....WE JUST ASSUMED HE MUSTA PLAYED CHB
Do you think by carrying on about Bowden it defelcts the bizarre selections of O'Keefe and Bolton? NOT MUCH HAPPENS BETWEEN YOUR EARS DOES IT....ACTUALLY I'M DEFLECTING OPINIONS AWAY FROM THE HALL AND GOODES' SELECTION AS WELL ********.
Do you have nothing better to do than act like a idiot?
MY ENTIRE WORLD REVOLVES AROUND CRITICISING BOWDEN....IT IS TRULY THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN MY LIFE ********.

Fact

CHB is a one on one posting....the great CHB's would be laughing at Bowdens selection...it'd be like a gift from heaven for them.

Do you realise the reason tv terry needs to triple team those blokes every game is coz noone at Richmond can stand toe to toe with them ?

The selection of Barry Hall at CHF means that anyone that played on Hall during the course of the season is eligible for CHB...surely they musta played CHB if Hall was a CHF.

I know plenty that gave Hall troubles during the season...Bowden aint one of them... Richmond ALWAYS at least double team blokes like Brown Hall Riewoldt Tredrea Pavlich ....he is one on one snackfood for all the big CHF's going around....others can stand toe to toe with them but didnt get a gig.

They took a damn good AA team and put a marshmallow in the most important spot on the ground.

The softest CHB appointment in AA history....absolutely ruins the team.

Bruce easily in the side along with chapman replacing Didak and O'Keef.

Cousins has played well but 4th fav for brownlow is cr@p. Junior way ahead of him for AA rover.

I may be iased but Cox is clearly the best ruckman in the game...but its kinda bull to leave guys like simo or white who played full years.

Finally....when are the selection panel gonna start choosing players in their position? Id doubt riewoldt played fwd pocket all year and yet the likes of farmer and davey who dominated that role miss out? If hes that good a cntre half foward pick him there but Riewoldt was NOT the best fwd pkt in the league and should not be there!

Perhaps they, like myself, don't think he should be playing CHF (of course, their and my opinion doesn't change the validity of your point).

Riewoldt plays all over the place in the foward line , i think he capable of playing foward pocket
Barry Hall was selected at CHF but doesn't play there. Hall plays a position that doesn't exist in the AA side , SO SHOULD WE NOT SELECT HIM. Barry Hall plays between CHF and full foward.
Positions don't really exist in todyay's , example the wingman , how many can u name that play there 95% of the time ,

Two defenders in the whole side. Joke.

How Clement cannot get a spot (as a ****ing defender) in place of a bloke like Gilbee baffles me. It absolutely baffles me.

And Lucas was robbed blind.

Not too much wrong IMO. The contentious issues seem to be:
Bowden: does CHB even exist as a position anymore? Even though he does rack up plenty of cheap stats, he probably played the actual position better than anyone else in 2006.
Hall: Might be a victim of his own high standards. Unlike Judd 2005 who suffered this, BBB was still selected despite not reaching the heights of last year but still the best CHF of 2006:thumbsu:
Clement: easily the stiffest to miss out but he is not a CHB. I wouldve had him in just ahead of Gilbee.
Chapman: Very unlucky. But, as much as I dislike the little maggot, Didaks year was just as impressive & he did have a lot more impact in a team that was near the higher end of the ladder for most of the year.
Bruce: Bronze medal for unlucky but where would you select him? Granted I saw bugger all Melbourne matches this year but it seems to me that he is more a running back flank/wingman these days. McLeod provides more run & the centreline picks itself.
Burgoyne: lifted his game to a new level in the midfield this year but would anyone seriously have him before West Judd Cousins Goodwin & Goodes? I think not - position on the bench justified!
My 2 bobs worth
Wilbur

McLeod and Cox are the two selections that I can't believe. How anyone can rate their seasons above Clement and Simmonds is absolutely beyond me.
Jeff Farmer was real unlucky.

Clement should be in without a doubt, is the premier defender in the AFL and Joel Bowden at CHB was  what do people think of Brad Johnson being captain?

Johnson is a good choice. Stand out player for his team, led them up forward.

Judd even if he led his team well this year still has many years ahead of him to snare the AA captaincy.

i also thought johncock was very very stiff of missing selection, he was extremely good in defence, was extremely good at keeping his composure during tight situations and set up a lot of adelaide's goals through the back line

johncock should be in for gilbee

It baffles me that Bowden's selection has caused so much vitriol. He was a virtual guaranteed inclusion in every newspaper article, and discussed on On the Couch as a lock. If the positions were reversed, and Bolton's Name was put in the CHB position, it would still be Bowden copping the barrage fom the 15 year olds on this board who seem to know more about football than anyone else. Read the HS article from last Friday, every one of the six journos had him locked in - one of few to have that recogition.

The next cry is that is must be Victorian bias, or KB s picking the team...for those who live outside of Victoria, we get news on the whole AFL, not the WA version of the news, or the SA vrsion of the news, which only seem to cover the home teams. KB is one of six (or seven) selectors. His vote is equal to the others, not greater. Feel free to play 400 games, call TV games and host a radio show daily for 10-odd years, and then maybe you can criticise him.

Regardless of what the kids here think, Bowden has had a standout season. He will most likely win his 3rd Best and Fairest in a row. His only real challengers are Troy Simmonds (regarded as unlucky to miss AA selection by many here) and Andrew Raines. He plays a role asked of him by his coach, and only really lowered his colours twice this year.

To kn0bheads like Bollox who seem to think one position in modern football is unchangeable, shut the **** up! If we are picking on traditional positions, Hall would not gain selection as his position is neither FF or CHF, but somewhere in between.

Bowden plays the same CHB role as Chad Cornes for Port, yet Cornes is recognised and Bowden isn't. It is the new role of a backman to be a driving force - and extension of the midfield. It started as the flankers, and is now spread to the centre of the ground. Deal with it, because it's the future of the game...
