When will Prismall be fit after doing his knee?

Good get for your forwardline and midfield if he can get on the park as part of your rotations.

Will be looking to resume anywhere between rounds 4-12. All depends on how well his knee comes up, I for one would approve the softly softly approach and ensure its 100% before unleashing the Pris.

On a bright note, I cant think of any Essendon player re-doing his knee when he comes back...we must do it right.

I'm not his biggest fan, but pick 39 is a great deal for him, and I hope he proves me wrong and becomes a fantastic player.

He sounds like a really good guy, and let's hope he's there for premiership number 17. (And that pick 39 turns out to be an absolute crab)

Dont forget that EFC has finished 11th or best for the last few years. In other words we have been cellar dwellars.

Clubs were reluctant to trade ( 6 trades ) because it is considered a strong draft.

True, but they were reluctant to trade picks in the top 25. 3rd and 4th Round Picks were more freely given away.

It may be a strong draft, but that doesn't mean there's any greater than a small possibility of finding gold beyond the second round.

What I think we've got in Prismall is a long term player with more ability than the guys we'd be picking from at Pick 39. Whether it's an 18 year old or a 22 year old isn't that significant to me.

EFC has potentially drafted well in the last 3 years and IMO need to have another 2 strong drafts in 2008 and 2009.

Ideally, I would have liked to have an extra 1 or 2 draft picks in 2009, as EFC have drafted well with late selections in recent times.

We may have found a few late in the draft in recent years, but the odds of doing that again is unlikely.

Furthermore, doesn't Prismall add to our group of kids?

Just watching a video on Superfooty and Neil Balme was saying they weren't that happy with pick number 39. That's good because it indicates that they rate him higher than that. Good young midfielder in his early twenties - just what the doc ordered I reckon. We don't want just all kids in three years time!!!

I also hoped Lovett and Knights can make peace and Lovett uses it as initiative to take the next step. His potential is enormous!!!

I'm pleased with the outcome and the bonus is keeping Andy "Special" Lovett.

Hopefully Prismal will have learnt a few tricks from the Geelong midfielders.

I don't experct him to be a superstar but he adds experiance and along with pace and being a good kick adds to the Midfield.

Prismall would be playing more regular senior football at GFC if he is a gun.

Sellwood is a gun after 2 years and he plays every week.

Prismall may become a gun ( although I doubt it ) but should be a good footballer.

I am a bit worried about Stanton, Lovett and Prismall in the same team.

well firstly, he has been injurey plagued with his arm, and now his knee, so he hasnt had a full injury free year to develop like selwood.

also he is going to be a gun, obviously not ablett, bartel or selwood quality right now. but you cant say his not going to be a gun because he was in and out of the best side in the league.

also you wouldnt get selwood for pick 39. all in all its a massive win for your club. as for having stanton and prismall in the one team, i have no idea to what issues that could bring? and lovett? barely a ball winning midfielder..

Very happy with the deal.
Earlier in the thread I said that I'd be willing to have him at Essendon for no more than a third round pick, glad to see that EFC were thinking the same way.

He'll add a bit of skill into our midfield when he's fit enough to step out onto the park, he has some very nice disposal by both hand and foot. Our forwards will get hit on the chest more times than not.
He is an outside midfielder, but he's not afraid to get his hands dirty when he needs too.

Again, I'm very happy to have him at Bomberland for pick 39. Should be a good player for many years to come if all goes well.

No one knows if he is going to be a gun, but Knights sure seemed happy with the outcome. Leadership qualities in a young bloke is always a good thing. The only query for mine is his fitness.

I agree with you guys on Prismall he will be a added bonus to our midfield and great pick up for pick 39. The cats are not happy he has gone and I think we have made a great steal out of this one. We are getting an exciting bunch in the midfield and with early picks to come the timing has been perfect for us.

The trading for Prismall is merely a replacement for Lovett.

...is merely to complement Lovett.

Very good result for us. Hopefully Lovett understands the gravity of this week for him. I believe our game style suits him better than most, especially Sydney.

Who thinks we did a better deal for Prismall than the Saints did for Ray? If his knee stands up I think we trumped them there.

Thats is currently being looked after, and with some luck should add Hurley on draft day to continue its development.

Prismall is a great pickup, as mentioned, he hasnt had a chance to establish himself within the Geelong midfield due to Selwood's rapid rise.

Prismall, assuming when he comes back everything is right with his knee will slot straight into our midfield.

How is our backline being looked after when our best player is 33 in Fletcher

His injury wasn't as bad as others and the only injury was the ACL, not the posterior or medial.

It will depend on if he has any set backs, his rate of healing and probably a hundred other things.

Assuming all goes well and we take a conservative approach probably somewhere around May/June would see him play for Bendigo.

Just because you play in a good team does not automattically make you a gun.

Definitely not, I agree. But Prismall is a better player than Varcoe or Byrnes, without a doubt. It's just unfortunate that Prismall is a midfielder (and unfortunate for Prismall that Selwood came along pretty much stole his spot). Byrnes and Varcoe are more small forwards who can go into the midfield/wing and probably more importantly (for them) have a bit of pace.

I am spewing Prismall has gone. I saw Prismall, Selwood, Hawkins and Gamble as our future. Essendon are my second team though, so if he had to go, I'm glad you guys got him. Would have liked a higher pick, but would much rather have kept Prismall.

Very good trade by the Bombers. I hope his knee doesn't trouble him again and he gets back to were he left off.

Very good trade for the Bombers. He was unlucky as a midfielder he was in the same side as Ablett, Bartell and Selwood. He was probably in Geelongs best 22 to 24 which is no mean feat. With a players best footy between 23 and 19 yo generally anything is possible with Prismall. We should be very pleased.
