Re: Official GVFL thread

Had a look at United vs Benalla at the weekend and yeah Porter was good, but lets be honest, United don't have a ruckman so it's not as if there was any competition.

Still should be in the interleague squad, but would expect, as a lot of the ex-AFL boys do, made himself unavailable.

Can't see Hotton playing either .. he's been selected every year for the past five and is yet to pull on the Violet Crumble strip.
funny that ive watched hotton play for the league on more than one ocassion

Re: Official GVFL thread

Brad Cambell clearly the best player in the comp and has been for a long time!!! 6 B+F wins speak for it self

BnF's can be a misleading way to judge players (even tatura is going to have a best and fairest this year), but you won't find too many people disputing the fact that Campbell is a GVFL champ.
And it's not just the last decade. Remember he carved Seymour up in the first quarter of the 91 granny when he was just 15.

Re: Official GVFL thread

Lions Roar I think I played a game with Hot Dog in 2004. I also thought he played a game in 2003.... What do you do for a job again??

Lions Roar I think I played a game with Hot Dog in 2004. I also thought he played a game in 2003.... What do you do for a job again??

He definitely didn't play in 2003 ... that was the game at the G'.

I missed the 2004 carnival, because I was up at ski season opening.

What do I do for a job?

Pump up useless blokes like you who are too soft to get out on the park!!

If you stopped shagging so much, you might be back before round 15!

Best player in the competition...
Has been for over 10 years.
Dont even dispute it!

Brad c for sure , Porter doesn't even come close after one year , Hotton and Clayton are worthy players though , the three should be placed together as the best trio inthe Gv for the last decade

My G.V best (top 5) over past decade:

C.Sholl (Ech)
T.Hotton (Mans)
S. Eishold (Ech)
S.Ash (Shep)
B.Campbell (Mor)

unlucky: S.Clayton, B.Cooper, A.Byrne, S.McCarty, G.Stevens and probably plenty of others.

Also no way Newman is over rated kicked 14 against Echuca a couple of years back, a side Balraj has never really dominated. When going he is almost impossible to stop, would be even better in a good side.

a bit harsh on singhy... he kicked alot of bags no left foot.. he kicked something like 32 goals against shepp united in 4 games

Re: Official GVFL thread

Is Daniel "LENNY" Schmidt the best looking bloke in the GVFL ? He would be hard to beat back in Bendigo.

Re: Official GVFL thread

Simon McCarty was way better than that soft receiver Eishold.

That is almost the worst call i have ever heard.

Don't get me wrong, McCarty was a very good country footballer and his record speaks for itself.

But Eisholds record far out shines, including playing a number of AFL games and winning a morrison medal and evolving into one of the best coaches country footbal has seen, to name just a few.

Eishold coaching Echuca back in 96 or 97 Quote at half time, packed change rooms, Echuca were getting slaughtered "there is only one c#nt out there having a go.....and it is fu#king me". Proceeded to give them an absolute spray and they went out an won by 2 goals.

That quote really does not mean sh#t, i just love it.

McCarty, although a great player, not in the same league as one S. Eishold.

Lenny does rate himself pretty highly in the looks stakes, takes more time preparing the hair and getting oiled up than focusing on the game at hand.

Don't know whether you're the first bloke to come on here and ask people to rate the looks of a footballer .. but you very well might be ...

Unless of couse that's you Lenny .... seems like something he'd do.

I disagree, McCarty was a better player in GV footy in my opinion.

Going back a few more years, I'd rate Robbie Miller from Rochy the best player I've seen play GV. He could play as a lairising CHB, or a blanketing full back. Was runner-up in the Morrison in '91 after missing 12 games.

I reckon it's a line ball between McCarthy and Eishold if you were going to name a GV side of the modern era I would find them both a spot.
McCarthy was all class while Eishold was more a workhorse but equally effective.

I would think it would take sometime now that he s in the older years took ages as an 18 year old little up start. A few new tips in hair noted by the bendigo girls.

Laughable.

You haven't said why he is better at all. McCarty's skill, versatility, decision making and ability to do something special far outweighs Eishold, who is a one-paced, one-trick pony.

Re: Official GVFL thread

Scores anyone????

Seymour PUMPED Shepp. swans by 5-6 goals, sorry guys but i do not rate Shepp. swans at this point of proceedings. Too many of them go missing when it gets a bit tough and Tim Looby......geez a few of you blokes on here pumped him up a bit but i'll tell ya he has to be a bit better, especially after that little fracar with Jeff Anderson for those that were there  .
