Re: Official GVFL thread

how did brendan liddell and tim looby go?

liddell is my physio.. he is a legend!! and is it true david putermorsi will be coaching euroa? played under him when i was with tungamah.. best coach to play under!

Brendan Liddell is no legend.
At best he could only claim to be the second-best physio-the-rapist to pull on the red, blue and gold guernsey in the past 10 years.

Re: Official GVFL thread

The big ruckman from the Diamond Valley FL wouldn't be Daniel Moore from North Heidelburg would it? Has Djaran Whyman been talking with Echuca FC, because from the way Rumbalara FC are talking, he has already put pen to paper as a playing Assistant Coach, which could be rubbish.
Is Xavier Campbell staying on !?

Re: Official GVFL thread

I doubt anyone will follow him from Rochy though. Last player to leave Rochy for another GV team was Scott Hanson in the early 00s, and I don't think there would've been too many that have done that before then.

Who did Scott Hanson go to after playing at Rochy? I thought he just went to Rushworth and can't think of where else he went in the GV.

Re: Official GVFL thread

Regardless of when the coach of the year is named, the award is voted by the coaches themselves. Obviously the opposing coaches within the league rate Peter White very highly. Lets face it, only two teams are there in the last day in September, so you have to give him credit for at least giving the Swans a chance to play off for a flag. Of the times that I have witnessed Choppa coaching, I must say he is one of the best I have seen at the capper. And when speaking too many whom have played underneath him, he is definitely up their with the best they have come across.

Well, you're wrong. They don't

Re: Official GVFL thread

He got some pretty handy recruits from Melbourne over the years, especially in the early to mid 90s. I can't remember the last one he got, maybe it was Brad Sparks in 99 (although he first played in 93). Recruiting was mainly focused around Bendigo.

However, Ky might have a big of $ to spend, so he could potentially grab a few players. I doubt anyone will follow him from Rochy though. Last player to leave Rochy for another GV team was Scott Hanson in the early 00s, and I don't think there would've been too many that have done that before then.

Think you are right there brad. Surely the player that would leave Rochy would hope they pull up sore on the Thurs before playing Rochy. I doubt they would leave the ground in one piece. That is something Dirty installed into the footy club, if there is a target they are in for it. Just like the position Ben Welch has put himself in after hitting Watson from behind early in the year.

I believe he's right

They vote for the GMCA award, but that don't vote for the coach of the GVFL Team of the Year - and that is what I thought you were talking about. Sorry about the confusion. I thought most people were debating whether, at the time, he should have been coach of the team of the year.

Tiger changes stripes

Two-time Rochester premiership coach David Williams will join rival Goulburn Valley Football League club Kyabram as coach next season.
The man who led the Tigers to 12 finals series in his 16 seasons at the helm was the perfect candidate for the role, Bombers president Peter Croxford said yesterday.
Williams and Rochester parted ways in September when the club informed him it would advertise the position.
The former Melbourne player chose not to reapply and has been a leading candidate for at least three major roles in the region for the past month.
"The more we talked to him the better I liked him and thought he was the best man for the job," Croxford said.
"The club sees his appointment as a major step forward and the ideas and experience he brings to the role is what we need.
"We're obviously still courting players and we have a couple of irons in the fire and hopefully we'll be in the position to announce some recruits in the near future."
Williams - who has accepted a two-year contract - began his coaching career with Rochester in 1992 and took the club to seven grand finals, winning in 1992 and 1999.
The Bombers were coached by Paul Burnett, Paul Newman and Josh Finn in a three-way structure this season, but Newman and Finn indicated to the club they would step aside if it could find another coach.
Burnett - a former captain - was among the other candidates for the position, but was overlooked for Williams.
"Paul Burnett did a fantastic job and was keen to take on the position outright and it was tough to overlook him," Croxford said.
"It goes without saying that hopefully he'll stay on board and we'll do everything we can to keep him involved."
Richmond footballer Patrick Bowden was also believed to have been interested in the job, but the club was not prepared to wait on the club's delistings.
Former AFL players Luke Livingston, Digby Morrell and Dylan McLaren have also been linked to the club as prospective recruits.
Williams refused to speak to The News about his role when contacted by phone yesterday.

I love that last line. Gee, I wonder why?

Ky must have been saving their cash over the last few years, cos it sounds like the cheque book is open!

Not sure how many he missed or how many votes Cam won by.

I wasn't around this season, but there were a few people questioning the voting system after he finished ahead of Matt Storer and Trent Hotton.

The kid is still a jet though!

Rumour has it that Finn, Burdett and maybe Newman may be on the move. Finn appears likely to join a club nearby. Nothing to do with the appointment of Williams but that of another coaching position in the club

Re: Official GVFL thread

whos the other coach? Have they appointed reserves or thirds yet?
surely these blokes wont leave, the club finally gets a fantastic coach and they wanna jump ship.
If Burnett was keen to stay on as coach will be be appointed assistant or has Dirty got plans of his own. If Burners isnt on the coaching panel will he seek coaching position somewhere else, maybe KDL, Lanky or Merrigum? Interesting

Gee, you blokes at Rochy dont carry out what is asked of you real well then. Ben Wlech seemed fine to me after the Rochy game (last game of the year). He may have had a head ache from dirty and the bench yelling at him all day, but the Rochy players didnt roughen him at all. Maybe it isnt just a new coach you need!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
