Re: Official GVFL thread

tatura should be dropped from the gvfl, they are a dissapointement to everyone, 190 points is a disgrace. back to the kdl for them, charlsy is not going to get them a win.
You are a peanut.

Every club has had periods where they couldn't match it with the other teams in the past. Tatura has had more than it's fair share lately but that doesn't mean they should be playing in the KDFL. At the moment Tatura is finding it hard to recruit quality players because of their recent lack of success. The football nomads who choose to follow the coin over staying loyal to their club also choose to go to clubs who offer a chance of success.

If you were choosing between two clubs you had no loyalty to (who offer similar coin/employment opportunities) would you choose to go to a premiership chance or the likely wooden spooner? This wont last forever, the tide will turn over the next season or two and when it does you can bet Tat will be just as attractive as any other when it comes to enticing the mercenaries.

Also they are a small town club. They don't have the depth of other clubs to get by when times are tough.

Someone has to come last and for the last few years it has been Tat. Equally, only one team a year can win the flag, and Tat has had more than it fair share of those over the last 15 years.

Re: Official GVFL thread

Maybe Tat should stop playing Lawn Bowls and have a crack at playing Football.

I quite enjoy playing the odd game of lawn bowls when I am not playing footy or cricket...not as frustrating as golf...and lawn bowls is a very dangerous sport. More Aussies die each year playing lawn bowls than any other sport!:p

Gee he'll be fighting fit and healthy after being overseas.
Good luck to him!

Absolutely no doubt about it. Carts is one of the fittest and most dedicated blokes you will see. He'll be able to slot straight back in and won't miss a beat.

All those clichés have worn me out.

Re: Official GVFL thread

Snuck down and had a look at the Rochy-Seymour game last Saturday. The ressies look pretty handy still. They were missing quite a few, but have added some veterans, so hopefully they can go one further.

The seniors was a pretty good game. Rochy kicked the first two and were looking good, then Seymour just went bang.

Rochy fought back in the second and third quarters, but Seymour took control in the final term.

Rochy did well considering Tank got injured early in the game, leaving a very small and young forward line. It would have been interesting if Bowen played. Deushcer played well on Saad, and O'Brien and the ruckman Givney played well.

Given that performance, they should be in finals contention. Bowen, Whitsed, Loughman, a fit McPhee, Nat O'Brien and Chris McCarty should strengthen the team.

Good luck to anyone playing Seymour. They are still the one to catch.

Euroa will beat them tomorrow!

Rochy over Shepp - 30 points
Seymour over Euroa - 12 points
Swans over Ky - 36 points
Moor over Tat - 100 + points.

Re: Official GVFL thread

Euroa won't go close. Seymour last week were still without Anderson and O'Keefe, with a couple of others I think. They are a slick unit. Saad will kick 10

Anderson is out for majority of the season due to his knee from what I hear. They are a slick unit and I believe they will win, but to say Euroa wont go close is an exaggeration. Euroa werent supposed to get near them last year, but pumped them by about 90pts at Kings Park. During my time at Euora, the majority of games have always been close and Saad has never really dominated Euroa. I think his highest bag against them is 5. Im tipping a close game but with the home team to just sneak home.

Re: Official GVFL thread

Can anyone tell me how Marcus Dean, Russ Lee and Craig Whelan have been going in the first couple of games for Mooroopna?

Pretty sure they've been going well, Mooroopna had some new players do quite well on the weekend. Think Lee's been in the best a couple ot times and Dean and Whelan have kicked a couple of goals.

Re: Official GVFL thread

Echuca over United - 50 points
Mansfield over Benalla - 65 points
Rochy over Shepp - 70 points
Seymour over Euroa - 32 points
Ky over Swans - 13 points
Moor over Tat - 150 + points.

Mansfield over Benalla - 24 points
Rochy over Shepp - 40 points
Seymour over Euroa - 70 points
Swans over Ky - 30 points
Mooroopna over Tat - by a margin that's not good for football

Any word on whether Tank, Steve Ras and Bowen to play this week? From all reports Steve Ras was going really well before being injured last week.

My word out of Rochy is that Tank will miss a month,
If true that'd be the longest stint on the sidelines in his near 400 game career.
The blessing in disguise though would be that he could then play his 400th on home soil.
