$67 at Sportsbet still, pretty decent value considering he is within 3 votes of the leader on the AFL sites predictor and phantombrownlow. Thought it would be interesting to analyse here and see if he actually has a shot. At the moment most predictors have Danger on 24-28, with about 5 or 6 mids closing in.

Round 1: 30 touches 3 JK 2 Priddis 1 NN almost locked, could pinch 1 as NN polls weirdly, but highly unlikely.

2: Loss to Hawks, Nope

3: Derby win, had 31 touches (10 contested, 7 clearances) and a goal, I thought he was BOG, but Priddis won the medal with 31 touches (18 contested, 10 clearances). Other competition Gaff with 32, Darling dominated early but faded and NN for destroying Barlow or whoever they had in the Ruck.
Inclined to think they'll go Priddis 3 Shuey 2

4: Massacred Richmond. Again, watching it Shuey/Yeo were the two BOG, but not impressive stats wise. Shuey had 22 touches (8 clearances) and 2 goals Yeo having 25 (7) and 2 goals. Competition is Gaff with 33, NN for pounding Vickery I think while Darling/Lycett/Gov were dominant aerially. Think it goes Yeo/Gaff/Shuey
5: Nope

6: Pies FTB.LeCras with 27 and 3 should get the 3. Shuey had 25 and no mids really dominated. JK kicked 3.6 and the ruckman had good days. Think he gets 2.
7: Nope

8: 31 touches and multiple goal assists in smashing of saints. LeCras flat tracked 6, JK had 5 in the 1st but none after that, Gaff had 36 but was a bit off, Priddis had 22 contested possessions. Going for 3 here, but could easily not poll.

9: Port. JK 3, Priddis 2, Gray 1
10: GC win. pretty nothing game. Shuey leading ballwinner with 26, again looked our best player, hard to find any standouts. JK kicked 5. Think he gets the 3, may get 2 behind JK.
11/12: Nope

13: Brisbane win. Looked our best player again as we played rubbish. 25 touches and a goal. Gaff had 28 but turned it over a bit. JK kicked 5 but didn't play particularly well, Darling got a few late. Think he gets 3 again but not clear.

15: Essendon win. 27 touches and 11 clearances, looked great. McGinnity 4, Gaff 35 and 2, Masten 33 all competition. Think he gets 2 behind Gaff.

16: North win. Looked dominant, hard to see him not getting 3.

17: Carlton win. I didn't see this game, stats wise he looks unlikely

18: Melbourne win. Didn't see this either, from all reports we sucked. Would think 3 goes to Melbourne mid, but given we won some votes will go to us. Doesn't seem a standout stats wise, is he a sneaky chance?

19: Nope
20: Derby. JK 3, Priddis 2. Outside chance of a 1, but most likely Masten

21: GWS. 3 Locked and loaded.

Have him sitting on 22, most likely touching distance of Danger and co, needs a big last couple of weeks.
Does anyone see it differently? He's not a massive ballwinner so it feels like it could go either way.

Top five finish would be good. Hopefully he can build on his form and if West Coast improve on team performance he might find another gear on top of any personal improvements which might have been negated by the teams lack of contributors.

Might be value for top 5

Want to drop by and pay my respects to Shuey. If he played for a Victorian club he would be recognised as one of the games best player. He's a lock for AA in my opinion. With Natiunui back in the fold and putting the ball down Shuey's throat. It's game on for you guys going into finals. He could reach Dangerfield levels of dominance now.

Wow, didn't know the Shue love was felt this hard around the league

We did have very high hopes for him when he was drafted in 08.

Good analysis mate. Think he's a chance. They will be a few games that Selwood robs Dangerfield of votes and a few where Thomo, Crouch, Betts steal them from Sloane who started the season slowly.

Should be a shoe in for top 5.

Is under rated and unsure if he is a proven vote getter. Umpires love their proven vote getters so much that even Priddis' average form this year might see him pinch a few 1's or 2's of Shuey.

5 out of Parker, Sloane, danger, ward/coniglio, bont, gawn?, Merrett, Dusty, (treloar or pendles), shuey... going to be close. Surely you would think Danger wins.

I havent seentoo much of essendon but i have seen peiple say that merrett isnt damaging. Shuey doesnt rack it up but a value for possession type like bont and sloane.

I just think with his stats this yr he will poll a lot of 1s and 2s in most games which could tally up quite quickly. I think he would have been the most noticeable. From memory I don't think people though priddis was all that damaging in his brownlow yr.

Agreed with quality over quantity! Boots will definitely be up there!

We finished 9th the year priddis won, essendon will win the wooden spoon. There will be a bloke that will get 20 touches in the oposition that will have more impact than merret. Merrett is a gun but he wont poll that great.

Just had a quick count, he has been named in their Best players on 17 times from a possible 20 games... could be smokie for top 5

Priddis polled well that year because he won a shitload of CP's/Clearances, Merrett is more of an accumulator, very different styles. They've been belted most weeks as well, Priddis got a couple of them but you need to be exceptionally good in big losses to poll.

I put in a few weeks ago for place and a win. Worth a few bucks! He's had a good year but Priddis being more of an accumulator and fav of the umps might too our votes again. Hoping his great play overrides pure stats. Seriously super year by Dangerfield though, would be a riot if Shuey wins!

Have had Merrett in my SuperCoach. Would be a dark horse if Essendon won 8-10 games. Hes a very good player 3rd season, every year has improved. Intrigued to see how he goes with Essendons full squad. 8 votes seems about right, maybe 5 '1 voters' even in losses.

Hes a chance for sure, gets contested ball and breaks away, really noticeable. He could just break 3-4 tackles a game get 20 touches probs still get some votes. When hes in break a tackle/s mode he stands so far out in our midfield.
