Hopefully it’s a blessing in disguise. The first team regulars might pull their finger out because there’s no reason for complacency now. The ones coming in should have something to prove.

I wouldn’t put it quite so bluntly, but it would make things interesting if Mathieson, Lester, Fort and Fullerton all had blinders. Naturally we are all hoping they do. I actually think we are going to murder Essendon now. There were always going to be lots of inclusions anyway because of injury. I am delighted to see in form reserves players getting a game. Matho will be ferocious and Lester is pure class. Fort should have been playing weeks ago and Madden will be keen impress. His inclusion adds to our speed around the ground. Putting selection pressure on regular players is not a bad thing.

Naturally Prior, Ah Chee and Berry are big outs, but when you think about it, Prior and Ah Chee couldn’t even make the starting team a few weeks ago. Berry is in great form, but Mathieson can play his role.

Lions by lots. We will thrash Essendon!

Not sure why Lester is the only one named on the field! I reckon we might see Answerth on a wing and Lester down back to cover him.
Carter Michael down back purely for some ball use, Madden as the 7th defender because we desperately need his pace, would love to see Cocky get a game. He could be a real difference maker later in the year

I’d say Matho comes in for Berry at the midfield rotations. Also think this is not the week to debut a player!

Not doubting his heart or dedication or ferocity at all. I'm doubting his aerobic capability. Let's see. I hope I am proven wrong if he gets a game.

Only 3 of the outs are Covid cases in Coleman, Ah Chee and McStay, they should all be available the next week away against the Giants... hopefully the quad and hammy injuries to J.Berry and Prior are minor.
