Not sooooo quick people the afl HAVE AGREED to review the decision after freo lodged a formal protest .....

I think the AFL will do the right thing here and award the 4 points to freo :thumbsu:

Very funny. When has the AFL ever done "the right thing"? Wait until Adrain Anderson gets involved and you'll see this farce continue.

There is no way it will be resolved under the overriding law of commonsense. It's not as if play was continuous. The game was restarted BY THE UMPIRES after it should have been finished. End of story.

I also like the point about the game should still be going as no umpire has heard the siren, even now. Given that the umpires have not followed the rules, the game should be awarded to the Dockers. But it won't be.

So when did today's game officially end?

I know there are a thousand and one topics on the freo vs saints game but this one is directed at this specific issue.

When did the siren sound, in the minds of the umpires. We all know that it officially sounded at about the time that the ball up occured, well should have sounded atleast. Since the umps obviously didn't hear this, when did they hear the umpire and deem that the game ended? It seems that the game officially ended after Baker kicked a point but did the siren actually sound then?

Re: Cameron Schwab: "We'll do whatever we have to do to get the four points"

Go for it. At least someone has the balls to take on the AFL/Collingwood dictatorship.

Re: So when did today's game officially end?

Freo should run out now and kick a goal, surely it would be a win to them?
I didn't see an umpire officially end the game either.

Re: Cameron Schwab: "We'll do whatever we have to do to get the four points"

I thought Schwab's attitude was fantastic. Completely rational about the situation, and made it clear he's not going to cop being pushed around. If we don't get the 4 points, I want to at least know that the club could not have done anything more.

Thats what i thought, if the umpire in control didnt end the game officially, then techincally it is still going? Longest qtr in history.

Re: Cameron Schwab: "We'll do whatever we have to do to get the four points"

What can be done here? One of the Laws of the game states that a game isn't over until the umpires hear the siren. It doesn't matter when people in the coaching box hears it, or when the players hear it, if the umpires don't hear it the game is still on. I can't see Freo getting anywhere because common sense isn't exactly the AFL's strong point. All the AFL will do is review a better way for the umpires to hear the siren.

he also added that there is no real relationship between the TAB and AFL, wouldn't read anything into it, and the result is far from confirmed.

He also said that when the siren sounds the game ends.

In other words he doesn't know the rules!!!

When Ch9 had the camera on the scoreboard the time clock was still going. Doesnt this usually stop when the siren sounds?

I thought he sounded like a giggling fool who didn't know the rules.
