Re: Official Swans Board Trade Period Thread

Yep Armstrong might fire and Johnston might never kick on at the Crows, but it's a bit rich if our club thinks he's overrated seeing as we used pick 11 or whatever it was on him.

It's time we stop wasting first round picks.

Confused ?

Over the last two days you have been the #1 critic of the LJ trade because it undervalued LJ, our future star FF.

Now you are criticizing the coaches for wasting a first round pick on LJ.

Do you hold the two contrary opinions simultaneously or are you just into speed mind changing ?:D

Are you stupid? You must be.

I am a huge critic of the Johnston trade, for the very reason that it is now a wasted trade. If we got a chance to see more of LJ then it would make more sense.

So to sum it up for you, the trade isn't ideal because we didn't get to see Johnston's full potential and he was a wasted pick because we didn't get to see his full potential.

Catching on?

Re: Official Swans Board Trade Period Thread

Walsh sounds to me like the next Mumford - a rookie pick that we see great talent in, and offer him high opportunities. Similar results should abound. It might take a year considering he hasn't exactly grown up with a ball in hand, but I think he looks the goods.

EDIT: Correct me if I'm wrong, but there was the same amount of BAAAAAAWWWWWW about the Vesz trade. He's barely played a game for the Bullflogs since. Shouldn't that make some people a little happier about trading our guys that never got a game?

Re: Official Swans Board Trade Period Thread

on the crows board they are regular bringing up Roosy's comments about the lack of passion and fullfilling the requirements of an AFL player from some of the yng swans players and they are hoping that it was only LJ was homesick...some seemed quite concewrned why the swans whould do this, they are almost paranoid in some instances we ahve shafted them.....as we have a habit of getting it right trade time

If I remember correctly most of us here were quite meh about that trade from the start, and we've all seen why that was the case.

Re: Official Swans Board Trade Period Thread

yeah i wasn't too worried about the Vez , Barlow trade. esp Barlow never liked his work ethic...though i think we gave up too much for everitt...
I dunno DA what do you think we will need to give up for Walsh

Johnston is actually a trojan horse sent to the Crows to destroy them from within.

Re: Official Swans Board Trade Period Thread

did the bullies pik him up in the psd...i thought he was part of the everitt deal...

Does anybody suspect that maybe GWS showed interest in Armstrong, and Adelaide said "trade with us or we'll give GWS permission to take him in the PSD". It would explain why we didn't simply let him go to the PSD, and why Adelaide didn't budge on the compensation (as they would have received a compensation pick had GWS taken him).

Anyone tell me what is happening with Sumner?

Would have thought he could have been in the mix for a trade to either crows or port. Thanks

What of S.Black, after a two year deal. Loins looking at one only. Best mate with B2 when they played at the Loins and has mentioned before about how much A.Ireland helped him when he first lobbed the Loins way. I don't give a rats how old he is, Black is this seasons Black. Get him in and get it done FFS!

I think if we can't trade for Walsh, which I would rather, we should do a Mummy and put a contract and money on his head and off to the PSD we go.

I was reading in the Irish paper that he is asking to come to the Swans but the Saints are blocking him and Pelcan refuses to trade I really hope we have the cash for your suggestion and we secure him and stick it up em and they get nothing.
Im warming to the sound of him but is he really worth it and will other clubs compete with our offer if it happens?

Off topic, anyone hear (if true) who the Swans player is that got injured in Thailand?

I've googled this story and can't find anything about it, henceforth I dont believe it is true. There was a rumour but no name mentioned. Surely if someone was to release that story, they would have a name.

What about Macaffer? The kid can play, the pies just retracted their contract offer.

Talk on the Collingwood page, straight swap for pick 35 or Currie.

I would trade him for both.

where does mccaffer play? id think pick 35 for a KF would work better for swans. haha and really currie? how does collingwood even know anything about currie?

In my opinion swans dont need all these players who will eat up cap, we have plenty of key resignings still to be made, id be devastated to lose josh kennedy or sam reid cos we didnt have enough cap.

Getting Tom Walsh i reckon is higher in priority. i really hope we can get him. any news on that?

Why give 35 if you only have to give away Currie? Seaby's not going anywhere now so that leaves Currie delistable (if that's even a word). Better off getting something for him and Macaffer would fit just nicely.

Macaffer plays on the HFF, not quite tall enough to be a KPF but he is a big unit, with a good overhead mark and he knows how to kick goals.

I rate this bloke, Collingwood don't wan to lose him but it doesn't really look like they have a choice (because of cap issues). He would be an absolute steal.

Collingwood has named Currie on a number of occasions over the years, so I am pretty sure they are fully aware of who he is.

And I would probably take that deal for Currie given it is likely Seaby will stay now. May allow us to use the other pick for Walsh perhaps.

If Sumner is having trouble committing to us, I'd rather delist him. I don't think he has much trade value and I don't think we can make a trade for him. I don't want players like Sumner, who doesn't want to commit to the club. Prefer to have guys like Armstrong and Walsh, who WANT to be at the Swans. :thumbsu:

Gotta wonder with Seaby not passing the medical though... Surely it's not some short term issue, otherwise wouldn't port take that into account?
