Must admit, haven't heard of a lot of those England players.....

I’ve heard of them but not in any capacity in most cases beyond ‘this is the latest guy who we’ve just invented a backstory to, about how they’re a ‘white ball specialist’ or ‘particularly good in the death overs’ or ‘an exceptional 360 degree hitter’ despite them being none of those things in most cases.

And while I promise Sam Curran it is nothing personal I was absolutely delighted to see him get clobbered for three of the most alarmingly sweetly-timed sixes (based on the sound) you could ever hear, to see the game come to an end.

I think the batsmen of the world are onto you mate.

Honestly he has to learn to become a batsman. It’s all he’s got.
The list of tricks he would have to suddenly add to his arsenal as a bowler - he just can’t do it. At least someone like Dernbach you could see from his build and his speed that they persisted out of hope that his natural assets might lead somewhere.
Curran bowls natural swing, only one way, from the hand, at slow speed, doesn’t move it off the pitch, has no real change of pace and when he does it’s obvious, he’s slow, and can’t bounce anyone. I just can’t see for the life of me once batsmen got a feel for him what they possibly thought would happen.

He would genuinely be better off becoming a dart bowler like Jadeja

England ODI side is a bit of a mess atm, but still some solid players on paper, great result for the Windies, contributions from a lot players.

Aaaaaand Curran takes 3-33 just to put me in my place.

Even allowing for the tremendous drag factor of England’s terrible form it would be a big effort for us to win from here.

Another good effort from Hope with the bat, nice to see runs from Rutherford in his second ODI too.

Are guys like Carty and Carriah actually best XI or just second stringers that are being given a go?

Carty shouldn’t be there. Cariah has a very good List A record, he’s earned his shot.
We recovered wonderfully today from a disastrous start at 4-20-odd, got to 4-160 then fell apart again.
Should have made 250 from where we got back to.
Joseph needs to develop his batting, he has said openly he has designs on being a bowling all rounder - neither attribute has come on as we would like but his batting especially in ODI’s where he could be a real nuisance given his power, has stalled. He’s got ability.

Agree with the sentiment of Hope being given another crack at test level. Feel like their test side really need an experienced rock in the middle order like him. His record isn’t great but he definitely has matured a lot and knows his game. In a perfect world it would great to have him and Bravo at 3 and 4 with Braithwaite and Chanderpaul opening. Leaves someone like Blackwood to play the Trav Head counterattacking role at 5 and maybe protect the next young batting talent in there at 6.

If nothing else this line up: Brathwaite, Chanderpaul, Bravo, Hope, Blackwood, Athanaze, Da Silva, Holder - that’s talented. In fact I’d bat Holder at 7. It might fold for 150 more often than most line ups but it will periodically click and make 400. The one I’m really miffed about is Kyle Mayers because the talent that guy has, is mind boggling.

Could Hope double as the keeper & bat at 6 in the test team? Think I saw him keeping in some county cricket matches last season.

Mayers was another inconstant player before the IPL earlier this year when he got the chance to open whilst QdK was playing for rsa in April.

100% a very strong batting lineup that would do well here in Australia. Holder at 7 or 8 is an absolute bonus too.

This is terrible. What an iconic image that is, the Windies celebrating after that throw to tie the scores :(
After the Tied Test the scoresheets were transcribed and then burned as per normal QCA procedure, not a single person thought they might be worth saving.
