Congrats to Dan Lewis on getting his ton as well ( even if he does play for Milawa ) it's a great achievement....Nonch I thought you would have been all over this one with half a bar.....

So guys I estimate that Brush is about 6 gls in front with one round to play. We have Tarra, Milawa have Tatong I think.....Who do you reckon will take out the leading goal kicker.......:footy::footy::footy:

Also the battle for 4th possie should be decided this week...

Lewis to kick at least 15 this week, Tarra will have a decent defender play on brush I would say.

Slim the battle for 4th has to be decided this week it is the final round!

I think Lewy could take it fairly easy this week - no need to go overboard with finals coming up.

Having said that I know he would like to finish ahead of Brush in the final tally.

Still, I'll back Brush to kick 4-5 this week and Lewy maybe 8-9.

So yeah, Brush to win it, just.

I dont think it will matter who gets 4th spot at the end of the day because 1st round of the finals milawa will smash who ever they play ( but I hope they do get beaten).. Can Sessho get the tonne this week also ??? Would be a great achievement especially playing up at the valley.:

We'll have Milawa first up in the finals KIA. How many goals is Sessho on I haven't had a look....

Dunno where we play them yet KIA but you would hope that neither Milawa or Tarra ( if they get into the 4 ) would be allowed a home ground advantage.

On Sesho it would be good to see him get a ton as well. There wouldn't be many leagues aroung able to boast 3 players posting 100 big ones in the H&A part of the same season...:thumbsu:

The big fella has done well this year. A lot of people were quick to write him off once he signed with KV.

Is having three blokes kick 100 (or thereabouts) a good thing, or a reflection on some of the sub standard sides in the comp? Would be interested to know what percentage of the goals these three have kicked were against the bottom ranked sides. If I get bored tomorrow I might try to figure it out. Of course, I'm not taking away anything from these goal kickers - they are all excellent players :thumbsu:

Just checked KIA the journo formally known as 12 gls only needs 23gls to get his ton.....My memory may be a bit rusty but I think the Mooreyyhu Goal Machine kicked 23 against us the first time we played them in 05 I think... Could 12 gls perhaps become the new Moyhu Machine this week......:D:D:D

Slim, I think kicking 100 goals in a season is a great achievement. I probably haven't kicked 100 goals in my career. But you have to look at the damning statistics:

Haebich:
17 goals vs Swanpool
14 goals vs Swanpool
11 goals vs King Valley
9 goals vs Bright
8 goals vs Glenrowan
8 goals vs Goorambat

Lewis:
16 goals vs Swanpool
12 goals vs Bonnie Doon
11 goals vs Tatong
8 goals vs Bonnie Doon
7 goals vs Bright
7 goals vs Glenrowan
7 goals vs Goorambat
7 goals vs Bright
6 goals vs Tarrawingee
6 goals vs Benalla

Sessions:
12 goals vs Goorambat
10 goals vs Tatong
9 goals vs North Wangaratta
7 goals vs North Wangaratta
7 goals vs Bright
7 goals vs Swanpool
7 goals vs Bright

To get to 100 goals in 18 matches, you need to average 5.55 goals per match. Lewis is the only person to kick six goals against teams in the top 6 of the competition (twice).

I don't know if a league would really want to boast three players kicking 100 goals in the home-and-away season as it just highlights the SEVERE gap from the top six teams to the rest of the competition.

Don't want to be a party pooper, but just highlighting the facts...

Here's what I have come up with:

I have split the teams up into three groups based on ladder positions: Top (Moyhu, Milawa, Benalla, Tarra, Whorouly), Mid (Greta, King Valley, Bonnie Doon, Nth Wang), and Bottom (Tatong, Bright, Goorambat, Glenrowan, Swanpool).

Overall, Haebich, Lewis and Sesho have booted a combined total of 294 goals. 160 of these have been against the Bottom sides (54%), 83 against the Mid group (28%) and 51 against the Top teams (17%). Two of these goalkickers come from the Top sides so that is a factor why the goals kicked against the top sides is lower.

Haebich has slotted through 57% of his goals against the Bottom sides (60), 26% against the Mid group (28) and 17% against the Top (18). Interesting note: 31, or 29% of his goals have come against Swanpool.

For Lewis, 55% have been against the Bottom teams (55), 29% against the Mids (29) and 16% against the Top group (16).

Finally, Sesho has kicked 51% against the Bottom sides (45), 30% against the Mids (26) and 19% against the Top teams (17).

The variance of percentages for each of these players against these groups of teams is fairly small. Goals against the Bottom teams vary from 51%-57%, Mids is 26%-30%, and goals against the Top teams vary from 16%-19%.

Now I am no statistician and I'm sure that these figures could be interpreted another way, but that's all the analysis I could think of. I have the data saved in a spreadsheet so if anyone has any other ideas, let me know and I'll see what I can come up with.

good work BK, I'd like to see if their respective teams scoring follows a similar pattern against the different groups...

Ok, so Benalla's stats (corresponding goal kicker stats in brackets):
  • Bottom 49% (57%)
  • Mid 26% (26%)
  • Top 25% (17%)

Milawa:
  • Bottom 49% (55%)
  • Mid 29% (29%)
  • Top 22% (16%)

King Valley:
  • Bottom 44% (51%)
  • Mid 30% (30%)
  • Top 26% (19%)

BK I think that before we draw any conclusions from the above stats we probably need to know what % of each clubs games were played against the respective groupings due to the lopsided draw etc...

Haha, even though I am tempted to figure that out purely for your amusement, I'm done with stats for the day!

you blokes must be bored outta your mind, can you perhaps devise a scietific equation where swanpool and glenrowan could win a few games and climb of the bottom of the ladder next year?

Swanpool + Tatong = Hmm, not sure. But they probably wouldn't finish on the bottom if they merged.

As for Glenrowan, well they have been struggling for a while now. Maybe need to change the board?

I'm putting it out there now that we will be seeing a all blacks milawa grandfinal, the only other side that is a decent enough threat is moyhu and when the blacks have there full side in they will roll moyhu quite easily..

Swanpool might be able to beat bright this weekend and glenrowan have a chance to beat king valley.
