Hey slim, any idea why our senior match was moved from the showgrounds to the Friendlies this weekend?
catering was the consideration cant cater at one ground and play at another it doesn't work cant get enough volunteers got it from the chairman at the vote count

Kv put that theory to rest last week mate.......Plus there's a junior league at our ground on Sat I think so hopefully it's not too wet this week........The showgrounds has the Benalla Saints V Rochester there on Sat too so that may be chopped up a bit....
I'm not saying it'll automatically give you guys the win, but I think every team in the comp would prefer to play a final on their own turf. We are pretty lucky that finals are held at Tarra every year so there's always a chance we might play there.

Hopefully the weather gods are kind this finals series, I reckon any of the top 7 can win it (sorry Greta) so I'm looking forward to some cracking matches.

BK, much of it also has to do with the fact Tarra has the amenities & facilities to cope with finals with plenty of shelter from the weather if it's a lousy day. We catered @ Tarra for the Saturday Milawa-Bright Prelim two years ago when we had all that rain & games were cancelled the day after. While there wasn't a huge crowd all were dry. It must help when your President is a builder though!!!
So if other clubs were able to improve there amenities to the level of Tarra, I imagine they too could push for a finals game.
PS: no need to apologise for Greta, form suggests we're making up the numbers & but we'll soon see I suppose.

Haha, yeah Todd has done an excellent job out there. I remember that day, I have never seen conditions like that at our ground before. We were sitting up in the box combating the foggy windows all day. Hopefully we don't see a repeat of that this year.

Bunyip, one of the reasons I keep hearing for finals not being played at certain grounds is due to parking issues.....With exception of a couple, most clubs have reasonable amenities and even some with shit playing surfaces still get finals...

I watched that game from inside the scoreboard and remember praying it wouldn't blow over every time the wind picked up:eek:

Maybe we should get Todd to build a media only box at the ground. Or we could just fix the scoreboard, it has seen better days.

BK, has anyone ever toppled out of the scoreboard trying to hang numbers on the bottom row...Nonch we're trying to get plans together for above ground coaches boxes/ time keepers box etc so they're be a media room there for you....probably best you buy and read a copy of war and peace in the mean time, it could take a while...

Rumour mill running that Benalla saints wont be in the GVFL next season. Where would they go if thats whats happening?

Whorouly
Moyhu
Archibald

Dunno about Moyhu CC....Perhaps the dream team unfortunately in their place....Unless we beat either Whor or NW after we beat Tarra ;)....As for Arch..well if he plays up forward just cut off the supply and if he plays on ball, stop him running forward...Has anyone had a real decent crack at him this year..??

Probably easier said than done slim. You guys had a plan for Williams last week - didn't stop him getting another BOG and snatching the medal from Webby's grasp:p

They need to be on the improve CJ otherwise Greta will have nowhere to poach players from..:D:p:oops:

Gone fishing there Slim, so I expect a fast pre concocted response. These are the players that I could come up with that have played for Blacks this year and have also played for the Saints in the past; Brendan Smith, Mick Wright, Todd Rogers, Steve Pickering, Rich Martiniello, Tony Evans, Joel Hearn, Richard Bull, Brendan Derbyshire and Damien Hernan. There's a few others but I'm sure you help me out. Which song do they sing after the game? :)

Bet you can't name three ex saints players that have played for Greta this year.

That's a bit harsh Slim. After 2010 no less than 7 Benalla players left the club. Most were great for the club but one in particular who was on our "payroll" was selected to play in the first final held at Benalla Showgrounds in 2010 but was a late withdrawal. Despite living in Benalla he didn't even show up to support his teammates!!! So some we were sad to see go, some we couldn't see the back of quick enough!
