If he had of gone to the Blosers, it would of been another Richmond and GC, he would be running around in the 2's, while they keep giving games to spuds like E Curnow and Silvani.

He started off very questionable, but wow, between him, IQ and Noble, it allows Nick to go into the midfield.

Can we change the name of this thread to "The Peoples Moustache"??
 
Def one of my favourite players now. Massive respect to him and Fly for bringing out his true potential. Dude is an excitement machine, we have such a likeable team right now.

Looks like a cartoon villain, and I suppose that's what he is to opposition teams.

Yes, the post-game press conference with Fly would make one conclude he has consolidated his status in the 22 which is a tribute to efforts Oleg has invested to improve with each passing match and find ways to make meaningful contributions.

It is also important to remember that he and Fly had a relationship when both were at Richmond and were involved with their 2019 VFL Premiership club. Fly already knew that Oleg clocked out as the fastest player in the league, at the time and, knowing his "need for speed," as well as Markov still being available, after passing up on him once earlier this season, fate would have it for both that they would reunite for something possibly bigger than either could have imagined at the time Oleg finally joined the club.

There is no questioning Oleg's cult status and it is amazing as it is unlikely. It is that word "fate" attached to him which conjures my interest even more right now and what it might reveal itself as the further we travel on this exciting 2023 journey.

So happy to see him do well. I've been a big supporter and was so glad Fly asked him to try out during the pre season. And he's getting better every week.

I reckon he and WHE " assuming all players fit " were playing for the same spot, both similar build and experience and a multi positional. WHE injury now almost guarantees Markov stays in the side
 
I have to own up to being one of the "why did we get him brigade" who now has to eat humble pie. His pace I recognized, but his disposal I thought to be poor. After his first couple of games, he has shown that it is pretty good. I expected nothing in the way of overhead work but he has been good there too.

Congratulations to club, coach, recruiters and most of all Markov for achieving what they have.

The Suns targeted Ben Long, paid him good coin to come up, and showed this bloke the door to facilitate it. Horrible stuff
 
Yep, I’ve been dragged kicking and screaming, but I’m finally on board with Oleg. How could I not be? To use the tired old phrase - he’s the ‘surprise package’ of season 2023. And he’s overcome so many setbacks and hurdles:

The moustache is ridiculous.

He spent a day at Carlton.

The Suns rejected him.

He looks like he belongs in our 1892 side.

But he is beloved by Fly and that’s just about enough at Collingwood these days.

That’s why he started off slow, had to get the Carlton out of him.
