My only problem with it is Rocky, Boak and Gray nearing the end leaves a hole in the clearances and big body department that we seem to stacked in right now.

We won’t let him go unless we get something pretty spectacular in return.
As you’ve said, Boak, Gray and Rockliff are near the end. Whilst I’m not sure we should play Rocky, Boak and Wines is the same side given the age profile we can’t let Wines go for that reason.
We’ve got a great group outside of those guys to build around SPP, Houston, Duursma, Rozee, Butters and who knows how Mead and Burgman develop.
Whilst that is a promising group, Wines is proven and any club that wants us to trade him will have to give us a good enough deal to let him go.
If Wines wants out, he’ll have to play well enough this year to justify a club giving up that what they will need to for him.

What an absolute disaster on every possible level that decision was.
I still hold hope that he stays long term and becomes the player we all saw glimpses of in that final against geelong.
I'm past caring having seen stuff all from him for getting on 2yrs. Shopping himself around last year whilst co-captain was the last straw. What an insult.
Not to defend Wines here, but if you don't think every player's manager doesn't shop then around every year, you're naive. We hear about Wines due to his circumstances and profile.

That’s garbage sorry, establishing what an un-contracted (or soon to be) player may be worth to other clubs to assist in your negotiations with the current club is a completely different to actively shopping around a player who is only 12 months into a new 4 year deal.
You only do that when your client tells you they want out. Question is why did Wines decide he wanted out ?
Whilst he is still wearing our guernsey and running out to represent our team i'll still treat him as one of our players. Some of the anger towards him is way over the top. I really hope he has a great season and changes his mind (that he apparently already made during the off season).

Player managers don't need the player's permission to find value in their client on the open market. They are doing their job, even they have KPI's. If a rival club asks the question, the manager has the conversation.
It doesn't automatically mean Wines asked to be traded. This is all a little too "post hoc" but we all feel invested emotionally.
Until there is reasonable evidence presented that Wines personally asked to be traded, it's just conjecture.

He was 5 games in to captaining the club and half a year into a new 4 year deal. C4 told us mid-year that he was shopping himself to Vic clubs.
Anybody think it's possible that Wines' manager, Nick Geishen, was spit balling a possible trade for Ollie to get him out of contractual arrangements with his former player manager group TLA when he jumped ship to Connors Sport Management? Does anybody think that might be possible?

The hyperbolic hatred thrust his way on this board is massive. He's a very good player with some issues with his disposal. He ****ed up getting himself injured in the off season 18 months ago. He was given the co captaincy which wouldn't have been his decision and there's been rumours his agent shopped him around. Almost everybody to a man loved him the 5 years leading up to this, now everyone is acting like a jilted lover. It's OTT in my humble opinion.
I have no hate for Ollie whatsoever.

I had him ranked 18th last year and 10th in 2018. A fair drop off compared to 2016/17 when I had him 4th in both those years.
Is wanting a player to show some substance after signing a big contract a form of hate? I think it's more frustration at the fact we are not getting anything.
